Not only is this the best version but I love the quick audience add lib after the "I've been around a time or two" line and the lady in the crowd goes "uh huh!" and the next line follows it up perfectly ("Maybe you've been around too")
That is what makes it my favorite version.
No musician could ever touch him
I like Tim McGraw & Faith Hill's version, but Bruce Springsteen seals it for me. He is true grit. Luv Brucie.

Personally I love the synth sound on the original track. That deep bass keyboard totally makes the song for me. Much like the intro to Human Touch.
It does make it sound very much of it's time though, but that's part of the appeal, and with those two particular tunes especially, I think it fits perfectly.
Still LOVE this performance though, stripped back acoustic renditions of any Bruce songs are awesome.
