This song is for those also who are working in dead end jobs with managers who put their own bonuses and figures first just that benefits them not their workers . For the working class and homeless. For those working endless hours just to pay rent and put food on the table. A song entirely for the worker class and the low incomers. All those out there listening to this much respect

    • @greyeaglem
      @greyeaglem 3 ปีที่แล้ว +10

That's one of the reasons I always liked Springsteen. He writes mostly about the working class. Holds food drives at every concert.

Did this song for A-level - well almost. Put Woody and Steinbeck in the mixer , press play and the most amazing song comes out. Takes me back 30 years to my first night in London under Charing Cross Bridge. Wow came a long way from there to university doctor but never forget my roots. Thanks Bruce, thanks Woody & thanks John Steinbeck for getting me a Star.

Just shows that nothing ever changes much. We already have the resources and technology that nobody on the planet needs to live a life of need and poverty. But we CHOOSE not to do it. We vote for those who perpetuate a system that concentrates wealth and power, celebrates division and inequality, and promotes selfish behavior. And why? Because we're afraid. Afraid of losing what we have, of losing the chance to "get ahead" in the game. Because we treat life like a game that has an end, with winners and losers, instead of the infinite journey that it is.

Trump has all the characteristic signs of a narcissistic psychopath. A psychopath does not have the capability to learn empathy, is egotistical, remorseless, no inhibition, meanness, and impulsive.
Unlike a sociopath, a psychopath does not have the ability to change. He is what he is.
I read this in an article on psychopathy in Wikipedia. It can be double checked elsewhere.

If there is one constant in life that constant is that Music can rescue us from depths of depression or just a shitty day, Bruce is a go to man when I have a bad day, Down here in Australia we have our very own go to artist that has remained relevant since the mid 70's and his name is Paul Kelly, if anyone is interested check him out...... Respect to the great song writers like Bruce and Paul.

Bruce is a musical giant. I wonder if even his most fervent admirers understand how important he is in a time when great artists are disappearing left and right. This masterpiece came after a slight drought in his songwriting (compared to his earlier years), and I always know he has a great song or two left in him. He can never be counted out, and his songbook only deepens as the years go by. He's earned the name Boss, that's for sure.

I’ve always thought just about all of his songs could be used to write a film script ….. 3/4 verses , a middle 8 and a few chorus’s … 3 to 5 minutes tops and you have what could make an entire film …. The man is beyond comparison . Simply put ?…There is nobody like him… a multi millionaire who STILL knows and understands what it’s like to have pretty much next to nothing or less … .

For a REAL winner, Mr. Springsteen sure connects by painting lyrical paintings of folk who many fools on this planet seem strangely happy to call losers.
...and yet, STILL folk become homeless. Maybe some folk need to step off this planet for a few minutes to listen to songs like this..then step back on the planet re-newed with thoughts of NEVER leaving those who struggle to live and breathe and put one foot in front of another, behind...and yet there are good human beings out there who are being human...
I, FOR ONE, SALUTE YOU ALL...and The Boss for taking time to recognise the struggle and highlight that battle in which some folk try to breathe daily on this place we all refer to as EARTH

How many songs can speak to us like "The ghost of Tom Joad"?
A monument of literature (The John Steinbeck's novel, "Grapes of Wrath"), a part of history of the United States while at the great depression, the tragedy the people leaving their farms and homes and running away from the sand storms to try to reach their dream place - California to give hope and future to their children... Eventually “welcomed” as Okies - “people of a lesser importance”.
Once again, about 80 years since that chapter of history, things haven’t changed much in the world. We are in awe watching the tragedy of the people fleeing war zones or places without hope, looking for a place amongst the societies that harvest and take advantage most of Earth richness and wealth to give their children a better future.
Thank you for uploading and thank you Mr Springsteen for making this song!

its a vicious circle of this economy and class society, capitalism will never, unless people overthrown this system of exploitation... both John Steinbeck and Bruce Springsteen try to illustrate that meaning to the working classes of the globe. Peace and stay strong till the last victory of peoples against the capital *

Absolutamente sublime.
