  • Fishing for Paddlefish in Montana, episode 1. In this video, Marcus Hockett, Dale Evans and David Samallow drew keep tags in the draw. Joining them is Marcus' dad and brother who also drew tags. So with 5 keep tags in total, there is plenty of fishing to do. In addition to paddlefish, there are plenty of other species that live in this river that can be caught.
    On only his 5th cast, Marcus snags into a huge paddlefish. But hooking into one is only the beginning, getting a 90 lb fish up onto the bank is a real challenge. Dale snags into one shortly after but it gets off. Keeping after it, he is able to hook back into another giant. They hope to cook up some paddlefish steaks that night along with any other species caught.

      They are very abundant in the Yellowstone and Missouri River systems of Montana and in other parts of the US. Not even close to endangered. And, the harvest of them is very closely monitored by a lottery drawing. Fact checking would be useful before making such accusations of a perfectly legal and regulated activity allowing for selected harvest that fully utilizes the meat and caviar from these fish.

    • @theycallmesnowplow
      @theycallmesnowplow 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Randy Newberg, Hunter “not even close to endangered” is a bit of a stretch. it’s not the fact that it’s legal or monitored, it’s the fact that you’re not gonna starve to death by not eating these prehistoric bottom feeders, you can catch and eat anything else that is 10 times as abundant as these but you’re simply satisfying a different hunger for entertainment and challenge if anything using the whole “putting food on the table” as a cop-out. sure you only caught a few out of many but it’s just the principle of it that you kinda folks simply just can’t understand. Just my biased opinion, After all slaughtering and eating animals is all you guys know and I can barely bring myself to kill a spider.

    It looks like a little 6ft ladder roped to one of those trees and letting it hang on the side of the bank would help a lot here. Great video!

    I fish the lower Yellowstone. I derived from my paddlefishing. Montana actually has 3 paddlefish seasons. I've yet to see a good video of the dredge cuts!

      Seriously. They are listed as vulnerable. I don't have any issue with ppl hunting and fishing but why would you eat something like that?
