You missed the best city in Michigan, Traverse City. Located in northwest Michigan on Grand Traverse Bay off of Lake Michigan. Beautiful water, entertainment, boating, good beaches on the bay, great shopping on main street downtown to just walk around, nearby is world class Interlochen Arts Acedemy for classical music that students come from all over the world to study music and the arts, located on Green Lake.
Absolutely love living in Downtown Detroit now, been here 12 years, so much to do , whether it’s pro sports, theater, museums , numerous entertainments, fabulous biking and walking and biking trails, Belle Isle, Beautiful riverfront, (nominated as number one in the nation the past two years by USA today, ) and wonderful neighbors of all types. We have a beautiful condo high up in the air overlooking the city, the night view with all the lights on is spectacular and everyone visiting just marvels at it. Great you highlight all the worst in Michigan. There is a lot more to Michigan than the Detroit area. Guess crowding and crime are high on your list of things you love.
Which of those places have high crime? Each one mentioned is below national average. I think you don't actually know the area well. There are 4.4 million people in metro Detroit and you can live in pretty much any kind of community you want to.
Does anyone in here who IS from Michigan, happen to know if FERNDALE would be a nice livable place for average single people (without families)? How is public transportation over there? Is getting around town gonna be OK even like for people who don't own a car? I am on a fixed income, and do not plan on commuting to Detroit much. I just wanna live in a nice safe quiet neighborhood all alone by myself; that is close proximity to basic amenities like grocery shopping, general stores, and public transportation. Absolutely DO NOT plan on raising a family anytime soon. Just lookin' to rent or buy a small home to live ALONE in peace, and possibly even RETIRE there. What is your advice or opinions on this? 🤔
Ann Arbor homes are not the average $250k. This is wrong information. Average is around $450k & up. It's one of the most expensive township of Michigan because of its proximity to the University. Well paid professors & administrators of the University lived in this area. My family lives in Brighton MI. which is close to Ann Arbor.
Going into the woods in the summer is a first class nightmare due to all of the horrible biting bugs and scads of pricker plants and sand burs all over the place.
You must be from Ann arbor. Keep on playing your video games. Leave the outdoors for those who deserve to experience it. You... You just don't deserve it Mikey.
Honestly surprised Munith and Stockbridge aren't on this list. They are very nice towns, and everyone is friendly. No crime ever happens. I should know because I live in Munith. Nothing crime-related ever happens. Just peaceful here. But, of course, these towns don't have much popularity, so why would they be here?
As with any 'best of...' lists, this is subjective. I'm in west Michigan, and basically couldn't recommend any of these places. Everyone's tastes are different.
True, however I think if you are being technical, anywhere in the UP is the “best” place to live here. There’s virtually no crime except for illegal hunting lol, which is the most Michigan thing ever.

Great video, but Novi isn't between Detroit and Ann Arbor, Novi is North West of Detroit and Ann Arbor is South West of Detroit, I live literally 5 min from Novi, in West Bloomfield
I have lived in Beverly Hills, MI for39 years and can guarantee not a single shot in the video is in Bevrly Hills. Most of the commentary is also false.
As a realtor in Ann Arbor, I can say buying a home here for 250k is virtually an impossibility. Vacant lots, if you can find one, go for 40Ok-500k. Ridiculous video.
Um FYI housing is way more then what she’s saying. I’ve lived in Michigan my whole life and I want a nice house for the prices. It sounds like those cities are paying for this BS commercial. Housing is high and so is the crime.
Seems like these folks are addicted to suburbs. Nothing wrong with that, if that's what you're looking for. I don't see much difference between the Detroit suburbs, except maybe the affluence decreasing and crime increasing as you get closer to Detroit. But they could have lumped all those together and added more outstate cities. Traverse City, Petoskey, Cadilac, Alpena, Cheboygan, Marquette.....
What a waste of time, half the city’s are metro Detroit. Detroit is a come-back place, and the “left disaster” has passed it by, but you missed all of the non-metro towns (thank goodness)
You got that right, I worked for a huge chemical company, over the past 20 years they have been cutting and cutting the wages of the working people, filling the offices with uneducated people, calling them safety, planners, crap like that and they are paying them 2 to 3 times a welder's wage, the union stabbed us in the back, I recently quit and went to a nonunion contractor, got a 50% wage hike and a guarantee I would never have to go in that companies fence and weld again, they don't deserve me and people like me.
This video is emblematic of the kind of sloppy, lazy work that seems to be spreading like wildfire on TH-cam. The narration is apparently robotic, full of mispronunciations, both of common words like steady and of cities like Detroit and Novi. Population and unemployment figures are often wildly wrong (Ann Arbor's population is far greater than 16,000). This is just clickbait, done with a kind of cynical disregard for anything resembling real knowledge of the place they're describing.
I live in one of these cities, could not live in a better place, very conservative, but with this epidemic of crime and lawlessness sweeping our country, wide open borders, criminal illegals being invited in by the tens of millions, just a matter of time, it will be here, our governor is actively trying to move Michigan to a nobody goes to jail state and defunding the cops. Some of these are nice, but prices of homes are understated in many of those areas. And some really nice communities not mentioned at all.
they need to add about 25-40%to the stated home prices
More than that, especially in Ann Arbor.
Flint. Real estate is unbelievably affordable. We're talking 3 to 4 bedroom houses for $50,000.

Traverse City has a high cost of living similar to Grand Haven.

The average house price in Ann Arbor is more than $250K. Those houses shown in the video are even more than that.
