Luxury Beachfront Living in Hua Hin Thailand

- Welcome back to another adventure on the channel. Today, we're in beautiful Hua Hin, Thailand, exploring the Centara Beachfront 5 Star Hotel and Villa. Now, let me start by saying, it wasn't all smooth sailing because they didn't let me film inside the rooms, which was a bit of a downer. But hey, no worries, we're all about good vibes here, so let's dive into what we did get to explore!
First off, the grounds of this place are seriously spacious. Like, you've got room to breathe, man! There are not one, but two onsite swimming pools to keep you cool under the Thai sun, and that beachfront view? Totally awesome. It's no wonder this spot is a favorite among expats looking for their coastal paradise.
So, I did a little detective work and found out the daily rate for staying at the Centara. And honestly, folks, I couldn't help but wonder if it's worth the price tag. 🤔 You see, the hotel felt a tad old-school to me, more like a groovy 4-star hangout than a full-on 5-star luxury joint.
But hey, let's not jump to conclusions just yet. I decided to chill out for a bit and grabbed a nice cup of tea in the hotel cafe. And you know what? It was pretty darn nice. So, it's not all bad news, my friends.
As I strolled around, taking in the vibes and scenery, I couldn't help but wonder if the 5-star luxury beachfront experience at Centara is really worth it. But you know what? I'll save my final thoughts for the end of the vlog, so make sure you stick around. Is this place the ultimate beachfront dream or just a laid-back 4-star hangout in disguise? Let's find out together! Peace and love, and stay tuned for the verdict! ✌️🌟

i look forward to your walks. keep up the good work bro. keep showing the world what an aversage day in TH is like
Thank you ! Loads more average days coming 👌
Ah, love that place - could do with a week there now. There is also a 3rd pool in the Garden area. That was ‘The Club’ breakfast area you looked around, you pay more for that or included in a higher level of room - the regular breakfast area was opposite it.
It is expensive but it’s ‘worth’ is relative - we’ll spend that a night & see it as great because we compare it to UK prices .. for example, family trip last week we had to pay £125 a night for horrible budget-brand hotel chain room; dirty, it smelt, cheap everything, no pool, in a retail estate and breakfast was a extra £30 per day for 2 people .. yet the same money in Thailand gets me to Centara 🥳 no problem saving for it 😝👍😎😎 Hilton is next door but I’d take Centara over that any day 😆
I booked you in Simo mate, they expecting you next week. All on me buddy 🤣. I knew you'd like seeing the place again. It's a nice place . Thanks mate.
@Wayne - If he doesn't take it, can I have it??
Only way I could justify flying half way around the world. 🤷♂️
@@stevecarr1992 🤣🤣 If Simo dont want it, it's yours mate 🤣
@WalkAboutWayne -
Excellent mate!
Just let me know by midnight tomorrow, so I can book a good flight. ✈️ 😆
Exactly ...
Actually, some really beautiful shots there with the sun poking through on the cloudy beach.
Yes mate, it still looked good I think.
Live cheap go far! Best motto to love by, njpying your early morning walks!
That's right! Thank you mate 👌
I can appreciate u showing us all how to save money through out Thailand, but that said I prefer to plan for that once in awhile day/night out. I know ahead of time that I’ve allocated for just those times.. (I find that the memory of that, keeps me warm & leaves me full of inspiration to head bck from the frosty long months here in Canucksvile lol Enjoy ur vids! Cheers
That's great Jack! Sounds like you have a good plan. Thanks buddy!
When Joy and I were in Hua Hin a few weeks ago we drove by the impressive entrance of the Centara and thought it looked great through the gate. Looks like a gorgeous place. I agree with you about bill add-ons. What gets me the most is the 10% service charge which I'd bet does not even go to the waitresses and kitchen staff. Take care.
It's a nice place but I would say more 4star. Great beach front though 👌
Would love that place looks stunning
It's a nice place 👌
Loving your Hua Hin series, you should do the pirate ship this weekend.
Thanks! My Hua Hin series is coming to a close soon. Maybe next time.
Thanks mate, value your honest opinion on the hotel.
Cheers Tim, it's nice but not 5 star for me.
Baan Khun Poor Food Market is still missing on your vlogs.
Loud Thai live music, lots of Farangs with their Girlfriends/Wife….and even more local Thais….
I’m sure you will like it (very different compared to Cidada /Tamarind😉)
Seen it mate, I didn't find it until long after I arrived though. Everyone goes there in the evenings. No vlog on it this time.
I stay right next door at the Laksasubha Resort. Great place. Less expensive
Nice ! I think I remember seeing that place 👍
thanks for the tour
Cheers mate 👍
Morning Wayne... love your videos mate. you always so positive and cheery... thanks for sharing the info.. added it to the 'to visit' list..
Thanks Mark mate, much appreciated. Hope all is well buddy.
@@WalkAboutWayne yeah man, sweet as a nut.. just looking forward to next yr and finally get out there!
Happy Days Wayne!! Hua Hin is a beautiful place and it would be my choice to live behind Chiang Mai. But like you, probably won't be staying at the Centara even though it looks great. I will go for coffee there when I visit Hua Hin next. Another enjoyable video. Take care. Cheers .... Keith from Adelaide, Australia.
Happy Days Keith! Thanks for tuning in. Chiang Mai is still hard to beat but Hua Hin has really impressed me, I will be returning to visit again. The Centara is great for morning coffee and a walk along the beach, but like you, I won't be staying there. Thanks
G'day Wayne,
When you said it looks like the dirty dancing place I immediately thought of "Nobody puts Waynes arsh in the corner" instead "Nobody puts baby in the corner". 😅
I really dislike the practice of listing prices without tax, any service fees they charge etc. Used to do my head in the USA.
I'm sure a cuppa builders tea in your 400 baht a night gaff is just as good.
Take it easy.
Hahaha I knew you'd have an Arsh up your sleeve mate. I can't stand when places do that hidden tax thing, it feels like you been tricked. Just add it in the price and then everyone knows what the price is. That peed me off a bit 🤣. Felt like I was cheated . Cheers mate
I'm going to check out Hua Hin soon as a possibility to base myself in the future instead of Chiang Mai!
It's worth checking out Scott. I would need another few visits before I can get a real feel for it. Chiang Mai is still my Number 1. Hua Hin for burning season might be on the cards next year though .
I think the Standard is the newest upscale hotel in Hua Hin.
I'm hoping to look at some others next time.
Great video Wayne I just checked out your channel on social blade I thought it be making you more money than that fella
Cheers mate! Social Blade isn't accurate at all mate . But yes, I probably lose money doing this 👍
It looks very nice, but no way would I pay $155USD per night in Thailand. If I could afford that, I'd stay in California. The reason I go to Thailand is to be in a beautiful place for a much lower price.
Yeah, I wouldn't pay that but I didn't see the rooms, I had a look online though. I would say it was more of a 4 ⭐ place. It was really nice and that beachfront is what the money pays for .
California? 😂😂 155usd won't get you much there.. Maybe Barstow truck stop area
@@onehappykamper Are you kidding? Maybe not in a big city, but I just got back from the charming town of San Luis Obispo (15 minutes from the beach), where I paid $135. And there are many areas lower than that.
I have stayed in expensive rooms. Never really saw a great difference to a regular room.
With you on this one Wayne. A hotel in need of a major revamp. The garden was nice but the concrete path looked a bit ordinary. Could do with some tiling IMO.
Yes Doug, I would think some TLC would be good at this place. Don't get me wrong, it's very clean and maintained, but does look a bit dated in places.
tyvm Wayne for the visit of this hotel, not worth it like you said for the price
Thanks buddy.
You have to check out Baan Khun Poor market. One of the best place to eat and listening to live music 🎶
Already been mate 👍👍. Not bad , just a cheap place where everyone eats .
Thanks for this lovely video! We're going to travel to Thailand soon as well, as we were thinking about booking the Centara, but then ended up getting rooms at the Hyatt Regency. If you haven't done so already, I'd love another video of you checking out the Hyatt 😁
Thank you for liking the videos! Unfortunately, I'm not in Hua Hin now, so can't do anymore vlogs for the time being. Thanks again.
@@WalkAboutWayne I'm already looking forward to your next videos, I'm sure they will be equally exciting! 💕
I really wanted to show a room, but for some reason they said no to filming a room on this day. They said I could on another day, but not today.
It was used in the film The Killing Fields, as a substitute for the Hotel Phnom Phen. At Christmas all the gardens and trees are lit up, it's beautiful.
@@stevejohnson2130 Nice bit of info mate. I might have to look at that film.
@@WalkAboutWayne do it!!!
@@stevejohnson2130 Fantastic movie 👍
"Chemical treatment".... the pool is now open. Means you can now piss in the pool. LOL !
🤣🤣🤣
Growing up with london prices im not shocked we all need some luxury sometimes though. Im Currently at the amari hua hin which id say is cheap just for the week hotel is dead even half closed for renovations. 3rd time in thailand this year definitely quite compared to Pattaya.
Yes, not many people about in Hua Hin. Hopefully it picks up next month 👍
Top of The Morning, Sire, Cheeryo!
I admit, that Hua Hin has a certain flow!
p.s.: Or you can just read that ---> WOW!
Tally ho young chap! Hua HIn has been great buddy, I will defo be coming back.
I prefer those style of resorts with nice gardens but it was a bit rich. Nothing like a cuppa tea out of bone china with milk from a cow. Those taxes give me the shits too. Good vlog Wayne👍
The tea was really nice mate, proper English brew. I'm not a fan of that hidden tax at all. I would say this place is more 4 star.
Nice video Wayne. No doubt this is no longer 5 star albeit still nice. Noted a few cracked tiles around the pool which they would be on top of at a 5 star establishment. Over 200 Aussie dollars per day is substantial money to be paying in the majority of establishments in Thailand especially as you are not even in High Season at the moment. Likely in peak they are charging over 300 a day. It's a place for the rich and famous not the average middle class man about town like you and I. The gardens were very nice as was the second pool you shared with us and that buffet brekkie awesome BUT at the accommodation price you would think the brekkie should be part of the overall cost. The price of some sort of luxury I am guessing BUT where were all the guests? No one in there having breakfast between 7am and 8am to me seems rather odd. That is a statement in itself. You turned up there 7am - 7.30am and were there at least beyond 8am and I spotted not one farang tourist there. All that grub sitting there. They should have given you a free night there for promoting their resort and putting it out there in TH-cam land. Doesn't hurt to try 😂 Cheers man, great work 🤩
Cheers mate! It was more like a 4 star or even a really nice 3 star. The beachfront gives it that glitz. The place was empty, like you mentioned it was 7:30, peak brekkie time. It was nice but not 5 star for me. They was ok for doing a video, but not at that time for some reason. Maybe they had to get it ready or something. Cheers mate.
In a 5 star hotel they will shine your shoes, and put them by your door for the morning. I could not get a thing out of staying in a luxurious place, and would much prefer clean, comfortable, and basic for a lower price.
I always have the same feeling, a good basic place is just as good in my eyes. It's a nice place and the beach front is great, but I would prefer a cheaper place.
used to be the Oriental or something in hey days 80's 90 's? great effort tho.... nice
Cheers Jack 👌
Wayne you should checck out the royal palace on the beach in Hua Hin. Very english design
Sounds good Barry! I'm not sure I'll have time now but I'll make a note of it. Cheers.
Usually if any member of the royal family is in residence there is usually a navy boat patrolling offshore.
I think one of the princesses call this place home. Tourists can wander around most parts of the palace.
Constructed in the 30s I think
Bbq platter for two $55.70 Cdn! 🤔 👍👍
Is that what was on offer in the hotel? I forget.
Firstly congrats on getting to film. I can imagine Sean being shown the door & then sneaking in for his "I'm going in " viewers 😂
No way I thought you was going to buy a drink mate . Nice that you can chill a bit budget wise .
Not comparable with 5* in TH imo , more 4*
£4 nearly for a brew, I nearly had a heart attack mate 🤣. I got 5 cups out of it though, so all good. It's defo more 4 star.
Oh no not the Shining 😅 it does look empty.
Hopefully Jack Nicholson wasn't about 🤣
🥰🥰🥰
👌👌👌🤩
The Hilton has the best location imo, but more than double the price of Centara! Was at a great night club nearby, anyone can enter!
I was going to look at the Hilton also, but chose this one. Double the price! Wow, it must be special.
Not true.
Hilton is cheaper than Centara most of the time.
@@soerenholm1 Yes your right, not much difference, think I was checking the high season rates, which both can be double the price, compared to low season!
Looking at staying at the Centara for a couple of nights.
It's a nice place, I wish I could have seen the rooms more. I thought it looked more like a 4 star though.
I stayed there a couple a years ago during the pandemic. It was only 2800 baht a night with breakfast and a 500 baht food voucher which didn’t go far. Too much for me now
I would say that's a better price. The breakfast buffet looked really good and everything was nice, but not 6000 nice.
Nice swimming pool and beach, wouldn't pay that in thailand 😆. Your right wayne they should put the correct price on menue, i cant be bothered gotta work out tax.imagine the bill if you had dinner there
Yes, I can't be dealing with extras on the final bill. It was a nice place but more like 4 star I think.
Didn't Dead Horse help himself to a breakfast here and just gave them a room number😂😂
Haha I didn't see that . Good ol' Sean 🤣
I agree, it's definitely not worth the money. You would expect the ritz for 6000 thb a night in Thailand.
Yes for sure! I would expect the ritz and more. It was nice, but not 6000 nice.
As an American it's funny to hear an Englishman complaining about tax on his tea! 😉
Yep, can't stand it. Tricking the people on a English cuppa. Don't be hiding fees on my beloved English Tea. 🤣
I just checked and you can book through Agoda for 2700 Baht or USD $74 per night
Yeah it's different every time or what day it is . I seen it for 3800 too. But on that day , at the counter , it was 5,600 a night. Pays to shop around ay 👍
How would you compare the cost of living in CM vs HH? Might be an idea for a vlog 😉
That will be in my Final thoughts vlog mate. The Hua Him series is nearly finished, so that will be the final one soon 👌👌
@@WalkAboutWayne looking forward to it, moving to HH from Phuket in Feb next year 😉
Can I ask why the move from HH to Phuket? Both are places I am considering when I retire next year. Thanks.@@mcb00m
@@writeronthestormkyushu565 rents have skyrocketed in Phuketski following the influx of people escaping the war. The cost of living in Phuket is also higher. Given we travel overseas frequently being closer to Suvarnabhumi is also an advantage living in HH. We managed to buy a nice house in HH for a fraction of what it would cost in Phuket.
If you have a partner your money will soon come down Thats a thing with most expats we have to take care of the boss
Yep, sometimes it's better to stay single 🤣🤣
Early grey tea is Sri lanken tea js it’s not English tea 😂
It's what the posh drink in England buddy. That's what I'm meaning 👌👌
So Wayne did the 5,600 baht inc the Taxes as well or is it more to pay ??? not that it worries me Not a hope in hell of me staying there at that price
That's a good question. I would say some extra charges maybe. Someone has told me, they seen this place for 3000 on a different site. It depends what day it is. This place is more like a 4 star for me. Thanks.
Be interesting to find how much a beer cost.
I'm not sure, probably around 180 .
They made an excuse not to show you the room because they smelled riff raff mate. Next time take a shower before you ask... 555555 !
I wouldn't go that far buddy 🤣. I might be riff riff, but I got my hygiene 👍
Please don't eat with your mouth 👄 open, Thanks Bloke!
I can't recall eating? The miniature biscuit ? When I was chatting? Noooo, I eat how I want chap.
Yes, the biscuits!
Sorry, just doesn't look good or professional and grosses people out. Just some friendly advice.
I subscribe to what " I want"
Take Care Chap!
@@1DancingCloud1 No advice needed chap, this channel isn't trying to be professional. (in fact, the complete opposite, raw) It's of no interest to me who you subscribe to, me ol Mukka. Probably best to move on, as I will be eating like this again. just a heads up and a bit of advice, so you don't waste your time. Cheers for passing by though, I do appreciate it. Have a nice day.
Yes. It definitely did not look 5 star. For the price, I'd have expected more.
More 4 star , or dare I say even a really nice 3 star.
