Going into it, I didn’t really have an opinion on it, I had only heard someone say it was a hate crime or something similar a year prior. By the second day I was convinced he was innocent and that conviction only grew as the show went on. Came out of quarantine and told my friends that I was glad he was found not guilty and that it had been an important day for civil liberties. One of my friends responded passive aggressively claiming it was odd that I supported someone shooting unarmed black men. That moment opened my eyes a lot. Same friend told me two days later he didn’t feel safe living with me because I had not gotten the vaccine. Which I didn’t get for personal and health reasons. Take of that what you will.

The Wisconsin statute does not forbid a teenager to carry a rifle, that charge was tossed aside on day one of the trial. But the “crossing state lines” - perfectly everyday legal event for Americans - remains as an artifact, a vestige of that first misunderstood legal issue.

      I’m not even sure it’s regulated in the UK either and even if it was, that makes it prone to corruption.
      The facts of the case were laid bare by the court, and that wasn’t enough for crazy people to process.

      Its more like people see themselves in different characters in the story. I sent a tiktok to a girl friend, it was about a guy giving bad advice to a 14 year old. The guy is pretending to be a therapist and the 14 year old says that he likes a girl and feels happy around her but doesnt know what to do. The therapist says "if that one girl makes you happy, imagine 5 at same time". Her comment on the tiktok to me was "yeah it would be awesome to have 5 boyfriends, all of them living together". I realized she placed herself in the advice given and thought it was funny. I saw it from the therapist view, it was horrible misogynistic advice that keeps the kid confused and asking for more. To me, what was funny was that it was horrible advice, not that it was misogynists but at lot of people just focus on different aspects of jokes and many get offended. Everyone see different sides of the same coin depending on who they are and where is their life. Rarely does one take the time to see things from other point of views. I would never see myself as the female character and I bet women always see themselves as the women in the misogynistic jokes. The reality is that not everyone thinks misogyny is funny but I bet some people do think that way, just the same as many people thought this trial was another race battle. My speech professor once told the class " The meaning of words reside within ourselves, not within the word itself" You can mean one thing but people form their own conclusion of what you said or have done.

      @Prick, Scumbag College his family lives there, he works there, and he volunteers there. There is no law that stops an American citizen from traveling between cities or states. It's not like he traveled hundreds of miles to burn, loot, and riot. The three ppl he shot all happened to be felons. Either it's a crazy coincidence or pretty good odds that there are a lot of felons who attend these "peaceful protest"

    • @79Glitch
      @79Glitch 3 ปีที่แล้ว +76

      @Prick, Scumbag College It wasn’t a peaceful protest, it was a riot. A lot of businesses-many minority owned, small business, no insurance situation-we’re burned to the ground. Kyle was there staying with his dad; he has a job as a lifeguard there, and has also been a volunteer firefighter and emt trainee. After the first night, Kyle went out with friends to help clean up. A local small business owner who owns a car lot asked Kyle and his friends if he could hire them to protect his lot that night. The adjacent lot to his was burned down the night before. So Kyle and his friend were there to protect the car lot, which did NOT get burned down thanks to them. There are also videos of him putting out dumpster fires. At one point, after using a fire extinguisher to put a dumpster out, the crowd gets even more unruly and start pushing a dumpster towards a gas station to make it blow up-this is on video as well. Kyle eventually ran to use the extinguisher in that dumpster as well and put the fire out. As you can imagine, this angered some of the people, one of whom became increasing more aggressive. It was that man, Rosenbaum, who eventually attacked Kyle multiple times and tried to take his gun before being shot. That man-Rosenbaum-has committed rape on 5 different boys (that we know about, at least), had just gotten out of a mental hospital, and was only there to cause trouble and be part of the mayhem, as were many of the rioters who had no connection to the BLM movement. So that is the incident that started the whole situation with Kyle being chased and attacked. He left the scene immediately to turn himself into the police, who had a line but were not active a few blocks away. On his way to the police, Kyle was attacked, chased, concussed and knocked to the ground by a skateboard to the head (also by a man with a long criminal rap sheet), and also had a Glock pointed at his head … by a man who had a long criminal rap sheet and had traveled from an hour away in Illinois to take part in the mayhem. These events were not only on tape, they were admitted by the surviving man who had the Glock pointed at Kyle. Thus, a unanimous decision in Kyle’s favor, and now a likely counter-suit by Kyle’s lawyers for defamation (everyone in the liberal media, including the president, had called a white supremacist with any proof, despite being kid who comes from a very humble background with no past connections to any kind of racism, and who has minorities within his family). Does that explain it well enough?

That kid did everything he possibly could and that guy went for his gun and died. After that everyone scattered and he contiuned running towards the police.

      And why are we allowing 17 year olds LARPing police officer with AR15s? I'm all for the 2nd amendment and responsible gun ownership but there's something very wrong about a child open carrying a rifle "helping" people in a riot.

    • @Johnnygga
      @Johnnygga 3 ปีที่แล้ว +18

      They weren’t destroying homes. The rioters were fucking up businesses, cars, etc (that have insurance). What the rioters did was wrong, absolutely. But going there like a LARPing Call of Duty dumbass with an AR to protect a business already covered by insurance is just stupid as fuck.
      The Police realized you can replace businesses and property (THAT ARE INSURED) but you can’t replace a life. No matter where you fall in the political spectrum, your past life, etc - nobody deserves death.
      It’s extremely cringe and that’s the part the opposite side (let’s say… the rioter/liberal side) does not like. Why defend a business that has insurance? That’s almost like a civilian defending Walmart from thieves. Getting in harms way and then you’re on trial for murder lol. *slow clap*
      Honestly, both sides were completely fucking dumb but that dumbass kid really went in there thinking he was going to be doing something. Congrats, now he has to live with the thoughts in his head about taking the lives of two human beings. He got out of going to prison but his mind will be a prison from all the thinking and paranoia now. GG.

I know it's not something all people want to talk about. I do feel like it's something we need. There are people like me in the heap of depression that work everyday to try and do the best they can and do try to understand their sadness. I think more examples would help a lot of people.

If you can’t name multiple times where this has happened, you’re doing conversations wrong and approach them with the wrong mentality. @@flipf615 - I was commenting specifically to Jocko’s comment that your chances of changing peoples mind online is near zero. Intransigent belief patterns that people mirror to each other in an attempt to teach rather than learn from conversation is a part of the problem.
      Projections, like you just did, are another problem. You didn’t ask me a question, you made an assumption about my beliefs, and then before confirming your assumption, you unloaded criticisms and assertions that create a defensive listener rather than an open minded one.
      Kyle has been innocent, in my opinion, since the beginning and as the trial illuminated the facts it transitioned from my opinion to an undebatable fact that he was innocent.
      The last problem piggy backs on the first problem I mentioned. People who are unwilling to apologize or change their mind once new facts present themselves.
