So we thought we put together a Super Mario Timeline since Nintendo has not officially put one together. SO here is out Super Mario timeline as told by Marcus.

This actually explains everything really well, Super Mario Land taking place after Odyssey makes perfect sense, hopefully the movie can do something like this
Okay, theory time,
I believe that Jumpman is Mario and Luigi's father, Pauline is their mother. After Jumpman saves Pauline, they "made love" and brought Mario and Luigi into the world. After DK kidnapped Pauline, Jumpman abused him and locked him up in a cage, that's when "Donkey Kong Jr." comes in. The DK Jr. is actually the Donkey Kong who wears the tie. After the ending in Donkey Kong Jr., you can see Jumpman falling to his DEATH, that's when he dies. Pauline was devastated. She wanted her boys, Mario and Luigi, to grow up with a Mother AND Father. So, Pauline gives Mario and Luigi to a stork to be delivered to another family. Thats why there's a stork in Yoshi's Island.

He made a timeline where the Mushroom Kingdom and other interconnected worlds are just Mario's "getaway" from the horrors of real life, but he still needs "getaways" from the Mushroom Kingdom
Since there's basically no timeline for this series in canon, it would just make more sense that it's in order by 1st to last game so far as Nintendo doesn't want to make a whole timeline like they did with Zelda

I've always thought of the party/sports games as spread out throughout the in-between times of his bigger adventures, not all at once in one block.
This was absolutely excellent! I really wish we had more information on Mario and Luigi's teen years, Brooklyn years, their parents, and how much older Mario is than Luigi.
In my opinion they should put Super Mario 3D Land before Super Mario 64, because the Tanooki Leafs where introduced there via the Leaf Tree into the Mushroom Kingdom. But yeah it still makes sense to put Super Mario 64 before Super Mario World because of Yoshi.
Also there is a theory that Jumpman is Mario‘s Father because of the Fact that this DK is DK the First (Cranky Kong) and the Father of DK Jr. who is current DK‘s Father (DK the Third) because Young DK is Baby DK from Yoshis Island DS.
The Movie is a different universe so you can’t count this Lore.
Also the Lady with the Blonde Hair is probably not Pauline, it is Mario‘s Mother or maybe the current Girlfriend of Mario‘s Father. So Mario first rescued Pauline in Mario vs DK 2.
Then there is DK 94 which must be a different universe because this are confirmed to be Mario and Pauline.

We were made to believe all these years it was canon but it's not now? What about all the enemies and powerups that were in future games from Mario 3? They don't exist now? The Hammer Bro Suit also not but instead the Boomerang Flower with it’s Boomerang Ability.
I guess Mario changed it for the play because he likes Hammer Bros more for some reason but was inspired by the Boomerang Flower. And Mario met the Koopalings canonical first in Super Mario World so that is also explained.

@@priestshrek3738 considering the Metro Kingdom, likely it was that instead, he was from Brooklyn before, but Nintendo have been wishy washy with staying cannon to anything they make. Also Yoshi is never seen in any world that actually connects to ours. Not even the Metro Kingdom.
Personally, I think we can safely headcanon/soft retcon Brooklyn as New Donk City.

Actually, I would say Mario World takes place before Mario 64, since that’s when Yoshi and Mario first reunite, and in 64 he says, “it’s been so long since our last adventure!”
Also it’s confirmed that the sunken airship in Mario World is a crashed airship from Mario 3

To all of those commenting about the Luigi's Mansion series not being mentioned, you must've missed the rule @ 0:27 regarding how "If Mario is in the game's title or is a central playable character, it must be included." Considering it's called LUIGI'S Mansion, they're omitted from the timeline, and the Paper Mario series does fit into the timeline thanks to a little gem called Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam
But why then did he include wario land?
And though punch out is amazing if that was added then so should luigi's mansion

This is amazing but you’ve missed all 3 Luigi’s Mansion which i think would’ve fit in the timeline, after all this is the Super Mario Timeline so it includes most of the characters,
I think Luigi’s Mansion would’ve been before Super Mario Sunshine and Luigi’s Mansion Dark Moon would’ve been somewhere in the middle of the timeline and Luigi’s Mansion 3 would’ve been after Odyssey

Its a good timeline I just don't really like the thought of mario leaving the mushroom kingdom and breaking up with peach.
But hey this is just me and this is just a head cannon who knows how real crazy the timeline actually is.
Could just be that he still likes her but he feels like its not the time to go for it yet

I find this to even be a timeline, so honestly I don’t think they understand when it came to these games like I don’t think they know the Mario series that well or something like that.
For starters he mentions games like mario teaches typing 1 and 2, mario paint, Mario’s time machine and others. I personally don’t think those games are close to being canon. Reasons why is because the games were never developed by Nintendo, Nintendo only published the game.
Also in the legend of Zelda official timeline a game called tri-force heroes was placed in the fallen hero timeline and is a part of the official timeline, making the game canon. Even though TFH doesn’t really have any connection to the other series or have a strong lore like the rest, but the game is canon due to Nintendo having the title of “The Legend Of Zelda”. That means that any Zelda game that starts with “The Legend of Zelda” is canon to the series. Now there is a game that doesn’t start with “The Legend of Zelda” and that game is Zelda II the adventures of link, but that game is clearly shown and stated to be a sequel to the first Zelda game and the story of Zelda II shows similarities to the first Zelda game and also link in the first Zelda game is the same link that ends up growing and becoming a 16 year old.
So if we take Nintendo’s logic like how they put Zelda games as canon if they start off at “The Legend of Zelda” then the same could be apply to Mario if any Mario games that starts off with “Super Mario” then those games are canon.
Like SMB, SMB2, SMB3, SMBRPG, SMBW, SM64, SMS, SMG , SMB, SMO, and there are others. So maybe games that starts with “Super Mario” are considered cannon if we use the same logic as how Nintendo considered what’s canon to the Zelda series and what’s not.
Even though I don’t think he mentions this in his own timeline, but I want to point this out.
I don’t think the Mario and Luigi games and the paper Mario games are even canon, or if they are they shouldn’t be canon. Let me explain… we know that paper Mario lives in the same world as the Mario and Luigi games, but paper Mario exist in a story book as it’s shown in Mario and luigis paper jam and it clearly shows that paper Mario and Mario from the Mario and Luigi games are two different Mario’s. In the mario and Luigi games they show and state that the mushroom kingdom and planet earth are two separate worlds, while in mario odyssey the mushroom kingdom is clearly shown to be a spotted on planet earth. Also mario is also confirmed or stated to move to New York or Brooklyn when he started growing up after his adventure with yoshi as a baby in yoshi’s island or the mushroom kingdom. So the Mario and Luigi games and the paper Mario’s aren’t canon and shouldn’t be canon.

With the Super Mario Bros. Movie, I think it should fit just before he joins the military because Peach just met him, though Peach is more of a bit of a warrior princess in that movie so it is confusing how she just gets kidnapped like 10000000 times later on.
I think the movie is more an alternative universe like the paper universe it doesn't really fit anywhere
