Great review. I have owned the LS12000 for almost a year and having it calibrated I can tell you "Natural" works great for SDR content and either "Bright Cinema" or "Dynamic" for HDR content. Black levels are amazing in Dynamic however it does come at the expense of some loss of detail and black crush. I prefer Bright Cinema as it tracked better when calibrating to Calman specs.
I'm looking to upgrade my old projector to this Epson LS1000. My old setup is a Panasonic PT-AX200U. 720p. Used the best Monster cable I could buy when installed in 2008. Question is: Do I need to upgrade my cable as well? I assume I do. Suggestions? Needs to be about 5 meters or so. Thanks!
You should introduce that projectors wont look as good on camera as a TV. When I bought mine, I was hesitating a lot, because projector on camera look very washed out compared to a TV on camera. I know both wont look as good like if I was in person, but it gives you an idea. I went for a projector, and damn, no regret, it look 100x better in person than any review on all youtube.
no 3d, no iris and no dynamic tone mapping as well as heavier 5k series look alike that becomes an expensive paper weight after 20k hours - what an upgrade for only a thousand $ more in exchange for a few more pixels that youd have to be 5 inches away from the screen to even notice! Cant wait to go ahead and ignore it while staying with my 5050 that recently passed a total of 30k hours with all of the bulbs in total still costing me only half of generational msrp difference and works the same as on the day i brought it home after my 5040 bit the infamous PSU dust. Really hope Epson force themselves to release a worthy upgrade by the time my beloved 5050 retires, otherwise hello JVC i am the guy that hates switching brands so be staying with you unless you do the "Epson"
Is that your main display? My theater is in my guest house and I still have a Epson HC 8100 from 2009, lol. Yes, it needs an upgrade but I'm only on the 2nd bulb after all these years. The 5050 must be an amazing workhorse projector, wow. For my setup I think the LS12000 would be fine though and would likely be the last projector for my theater I'd have to buy.
Channel changes? Please continue to be the only HT reviewer that actually tests gaming on projectors. It's a niche that no one else fills. I hope you go all in on it, honestly.
Great review. But, I have a question. What happens when you reach the 20, 000 lazer light life? Does it become a giant paper weight or can it be replaced? I have a 5040ub and I put around 4,500 hours per year. Looking to upgrade.
I have the same question! Yes after around 20000hr you need to replace the projector, the lazer is not replaceable. But even if you replace the projector after 5 years it’s not that bad because you do not have to buy a lamp every year (2000$ for 5 lamps) and the luminosity is always perfect. So I will go for the LS110000 or LS12000 but I waiting for a price drop! If I can get it at around 4000$can for the LS11000 or 5000$can for the LS12000
@@michel2641234 wow…that’s a lot of money for lamps. In the last 5 years I’ve replaced the lamp 4 times on my epson 5040ub. I pay $140 per lamp at pureland supply. I have two saved calibration settings. New bulb and half life. Gods honest truth I don’t noticed the difference once I switch to the half life calibration. I switch between 2,000 and 2,500. I use my projector like it’s a tv. $140 every year is around .38 cents per day. I think I’m upgrading to the 5050ub.
How does the 12000 do with windows open? Having a hard time finding reviews that are in normal living rooms, not dedicated movie rooms. ;). Wondering if I should get a UST instead for brightness in the daytime?
The real (native contrast) of those units are something like this: LS11000 just under 2000:1 and LS 12000 4000:1 which is comparable with UB 5050. It is very noticeble in a bat cave, in dark scenes only. In a regular room the contrast difference will be eaten up by the reflexions anyway so you won't notice much. For comparison most DLP's have around 1000:1 or even less.
The older 1080p DLP's and some more recent ones like the HT2060 are actually more like 1500-2000:1. A lot of the longer throw 4K DLP shifters are in the 500-600:1 range though, but an iris saves some like the BenQ HT3550 or HT5550. There are some that measure higher with no dynamic contrast like the Vivitek HK2288 (2000:1) and HK2200 (1600:1), but they are certainly the exception. The JmGO Ultra also measures about 1600:1 but it is missing any kind of optical zoom or lens shift. I'm not sure about the LS12000 but my 6050UB can measure close to 10:000:1 on the most aggressive iris setting and even higher on the auto iris (which I do not use).
This is incorrect, both projectorcentral, avs and other reliable sources measured the ls12000 at 6000:1 to 9000:1 depending on the throw ratio. The black floor is similar to the 5050ub, but the intrascene contrast is way better. The ls11000 is a downgrade in everyway but resolution imo to the 5050ub. I'm not even sure how Chris got such good results on screen, it measures badly, worse blacks, worse contrast, better lumens I guess.
You haven’t done any recent project reviews how come? There are some new LED and lasers out there that you haven’t touched on . I miss seeing your reviews.
Hello, at last a truly objective comparison between these two models, bravo! As soon as the LS12000 was released, I noticed in several online tests a kind of bashing about the LS11000, because of its low contrast compared to the LS12000, forgetting that the price difference is not a detail for everyone. 😄 As you say, I'm sure that the LS11000 is perfectly suitable for a dark room, and that the difference in contrast between the two models is bearable. I'm not interested in the TW9400 because it's technically too close to my TW7000 and I'm no longer interested in 3D. My budget doesn't allow me to buy the LS12000 simply to improve contrast. It'll be the LS11000, my choice is made, thank you!
Great review Chris! I'm planning on replacing my Sony G90 (been on the ceiling for 15 yrs) with an Epson LS12000 in my dedicated home theater. I'm wondering if you could post a short video on zoom lenses and how it effects screen sizes, pixel usage, mounting distance, and brightness levels.
Hey Chris I’ve been doing my homework on UST I noticed that the formovie somehow had the best scores in the 4K hdr even though the contrast ratio between that vs the Hisense, LG or AWOL it has by far the lowest not to mention the sharpness yet it scored higher than the LG and was on par of the others yet in your other videos you show the sharpness difference and how much it lacks compared to them? I know you said the LG was your favorite but is the px1 really that big of a downgrade considering price? Or is the formovie better than the px1?
Great review Chris. I've had the LS 1200 for over a year now. I have had ups and downs with calibrating to my screen. I think you have the same Cindegrey 135-inch screen. Would you be open to sharing your calibration settings?
Hey Chris, love the channel. Question. I have been looking around at the AVS Classifieds for a used Epson. If you were going used for your first projector, would the 5050ub at around 2k still be a good buy? Or should I hold off and wait for a used 11000 to pop up? I think I have seen a few go for around 3k on there recently.
Just in case someone sees this and is wondering the same thing. 2k for a 5050ub is not a good price. In europe you can still get tw-9400 which is the 6050ub, new, with warranty for 1800€. So second hand, maybe 1200-1500? I still think it's a great projector and beats everything up until the 5k price point. One thing people don't often realize because they come from tvs is that Clarity is not just resolution. Contrast increases the perceived resolution or sharpness of an image. So it doesn't matter if a projector is 4k when the 5050ub with 3x pixelshift has 10x more contrast in that pricepoint right? The difference for the ls11000 is don't even bother, its a downgrade. For the ls12000 you get a bump in resolution which is noticeable, better intrascene contrast, and way more lumens to work with. If you can't go for the ls12000, sony or jvc, the 5050/6050ub are still the best bang for buck rn.
I REALLY wanted the LS12000 to be the replacement for my 6050 but, yea, the lack of 3D and DTM sadly ruled it out. If fairness, however, I had to spend a LOT more to get a worthy successor.
Love my 5050 but dropping 3D is a deal breaker for me. I import new 3D titles constantly. Just picked up Minions 2, Sing 2, JW Dominion, and Bad Guys 3D
Hey Chris, so looking for a 4k projector, i have a dedicated theater room so completely dark room. what projector would you recommend? i saw some of your reviews from optima that are 4k. Mostly for movies but some xbox one gaming at 4k, budget well i could spend the epson amount but if i can save some and use it to buy my audio system with minimal image impact, this could be interesting. thanks
Amazing review! Do you have to adjust the tone mapping every movie you watch? How do you know what scene in a specific movie to use as your reference since lighting changes wildly from scene to scene? Thanks!
is the LS11000 much better than something like the Hisense C2 Ultra? The refurbished models are going for $2800 which is only $300 more than the Hisense.
Well the Sony is a "Native" projector and this one is not but I have seen others do a comparison and I have seen them both in person what I can say is that the Sony IMO is sharper and has a bit better blacks but the Epson has better colors and is brighter. I am a 4k snob but I like the Epson with the lens memory and the price is a lot better then 12K for the Sony with lens Memory. Epson also has a lower fan noise then Sony and more flexible placement. I am leaning towards the Epson to be honest.
Been waiting for this one! Lack of DTM is a bummer. Like you, I probably would be ok fiddling with the slider per movie, but there's no way my partner is going to do that
Great review ! I’m only interested in a projector if it has 3D unfortunately. I collect 3D movies and my endless search for them extends beyond the U.S. the Samsung wireless 8K UST for 2024 @CES looks like it will have everything..but at what cost ? Maybe I should just forget about future proofing my home theater and go back to Epson 5050UB with HDMI 2.0 😢
They came out last year. Pretty much every projector under $10,000 uses pixel shifting. It’s not fake 4k since it meets the standards for 4k certification. The true native 4k non-pixel shifting projectors are slightly sharper though.
@@wally6193what's your point with your comment? He got the projectors for review and he did the review. These Epsons are true 4K so they meet the 4k standard. JVC and Sony are native 4k.
@@percybedford6266 they are not native 4k which makes them not true 4K, what part of that don't you understand. The Sony/JVC are native 4k. My point was you can't call them true 4k because they aren't. Hey, if you want to call them real 4k have at it. Maybe you think there is a definition difference between "true and native"? I have no problem with his review of the product, but just don't say they are true 4K, pixel shifting 1080P is not true 4K.
@@wally6193 you are wrong. This has been documented for years. Native 4k is 3840 x 2160 resoultion while a true 4k can upscale it's resolution to reach 3840 x 2160. I have a scope screen. It should be roughly the same width screen as yours my seating distance is about the same. I'm having trouble getting a nice crisp image out of the ls11000. Any thoughts or help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for the great video - iam building a new house with a dedicated small media room "3x4 SQM"..what size of screen would you recommend ..and also can i use prjector paint of the wall rather than projector screen what sory of performance difference can i expect.. ..thanks for your help
my plasma is dying, greatest tv I've ever had, is a projector just as bright as a plasma in a dark room or dimmer? i own an oled and it had burn after owning it 3 years, so I dont want another oled if i need to be buying one every 3 years
Great review as always Chris. 1. The Epson models us a 3LCD chip laser architecture, is that similar to the Triple laser designs found in the new UST projectors like the Formovie. From your observation which design looks better. 2. Im not sure if this is a new feature in these new projectors. I once considered purchasing a motorized anamophic lens to get rid of the surrounding black bars on cinema-scope ratio movies. Is there a new mode in these projectors that will remove those bars when viewing a wide angle projected movie. This epson appears to do just that from your demostration. If so , is this feature exclusive to EPSON projectors. 3. The lack of 3D is frustrating. I cannot get rid of my old bulb projector until these companies wise up and listen to the demand for 3DMode. Makes no sence why they would exclude that feature. Grrrrr. Thanks
1. These are two completely different technologies. 3LCS technology is basically specific to Epson and it’s the system they use to display the image which is used in conjunction with a lighting source. So 3LCD projectors can use a basic lamp, LED, or lasers. Other UST projectors use a DLP system as opposed to 3LCD. I did a video about this some time ago. Here’s a link: th-cam.com/video/HfZmStDoY2I/w-d-xo.html 2. Yes an anamorphic lens can be used with Epson projectors and would accomplish what you want. 3. Yeah the lack of 3D is a bummer.
@@brucesmith1754 I don't think you got a full answer to your question number 2. What you saw in the demostration was the use of "Lens Memory", that is not exclusive to Epson! It is meant for those with an 21:9 screen. What it is doing is essentially just zooming the picture, so the black bars are showed outside the actual screen, which you manually can do on any projector by using the zoom or physically moving the projector further away. Here it is done just by pushing a button, thats why it is called: "Lens Memory"! What you will acheive, when using an anamorphic lens, is a brighter and better picture, because you are able to use all the projectors available pixels instead of just cutting them off by not showing the black bars on the screen...
I've gone through various high end projectors (JVC, ESPON, SONY, LG) and searching for the best projector I can buy in terms of performance, convenience and features. After I got the LS11000 I stopped looking. Been using it for the past year and I haven't looked back.
Can you (or anyone) make a recommendation between the 5050ub and the LS11000? I don't need 3d. seems like you would lean towards the LS11000? I have read other comments that suggest the black levels aren't as close as you noted, so I was hoping to get some input there. thanks for any input!
Epson in my opinion just need to work on contrast, especially black floor (black levels) to produce almost perfect projectors ( since my ub6050 is capable of better blacks compared to the ls12000, that's a step backwards)
We have a 5050 which has a lamp. Does the laser run cooler because it's a laser? That would be a wonderful thing as we have a problem keeping our theater room cooler. I'd consider upgrading just for this issue. Thanks for another great video!
Just opened up my first home theater back in November and ended up getting the LS11000, and quite happy with my choice. For the fan noise I actually can't hear much of it being about 3 or 4 feet from it ... Guess my 7.2.4 drowns it out! Thanks for the review and enjoy your content!
Great work! Been waiting for this one! Just as I thought the lack of 3d is disappointing. Therefore moved on to the optoma UHD55 because it checks all the boxes for me. Decent color reproduction, super bright, super silent, crazy good contrast, decent blacks for ambient light/living room viewing .
Better hdr performance, better contrast, no rainbow effect, and more picture calibration options than most usts. But just not as bright and not as easy to install
Great review Chris, thank you very much! I actually just got my 11000 up and running last night. It replaced the LGHU810 and so far I'm not happy with my Epson. Right out of the box my LG looked better. And your video footage confirms to me that something is off on mine. I tried pretty much every setting I could try, and swapped out HDMI cables and tried both HDMI inputs. And I cannot get my Epson to "pop!" like you can. Mine just looks kind of lifeless and dull. Not vibrant and vivid like your screen looks. Kinda like looking at the screen through a slightly dirty window. :( I was gonna try and update the firmware next. Otherwise, not sure if maybe it's my Epson that is defective or what. Maybe you have some advice?? Thanks
@Chris Majestic Thanks Chris. We'll i just moved into a new place and I don't quite have everything set up just yet. I'll give it another week or so and I should be good to go. Then I'll be able to pass final judgment. Maybe the LG is just better suited for my environment. It'll be night soon. So I'll see how well it does in a much darker room.
@@yadfgp you have a defective unit. Any of those epsons will look very much vivid right out of the box with bright content. Do a short clip using your phone and post it on your youtube channel. I will offer you my honest oppinion if it's a defective unit or something else.
@George Popescu Thanks for the offer but it's already been sent back. Even messing around with it alot more I couldn't get it to look as good as others that I had seen on the net. Everything just looks washed out no matter how dark the room is. Blacks would look really grey. I think you're right so I'm gonna try another unit.
@@georgepopescu1327 @Chris Majestic I understand that the LS 11000 is a higher tier product ( the Linus review a while back made it look amazing ) but the price is more than double the cost of the UHD 55 ( regular price $ 1799 ) . (this weekend it is on sale for $1199). Is it really twice the performance, 50% more ect. Chris does such great reviews but I would like see a different type of video where he talks more about the actual cost to performance metrics, is it really worth it. I personally had one that I bought for a previous sale price of $1499. I had to replace 2 separate UHD 60 units that one had a faulty hdmi port and the other developed dead pixels and started to flash intermittently. These two units were my first non extended warrantee systems and I learned my lesson. So now I only buy from sources with reputable warrantee programs that last 4-5 years. It seems like if I have a problem it is always right after the manufacture warranty expires at 2000 hrs. Any way I feel the HDR movie experience and gaming experience on the UHD 55 are amazing at those sale prices. The learning curve comes in at understanding which HDMI port supports what type of features ( side note read the manual ). However I do wonder if the $3000 tier group projectors like the UHZ45 and or UHZ 50 are much more impressive. The only benefit I see in reviews is that laser light projectors do not suffer from the bulbs output dropping over time.
if you are talking about Epson's problems with displaying 24p content than yes, motion interpolation implemented in those new laser units is a superior solution compared to the older models
It's a shame that these don't have 3D if they did I would have bought one. So that would put a lot of people off buying this projector. I don't understand why they did not add 3D🤷♂️
Because that would of probably added $40 to $50 extra dollars for the chip to the total price. STUPID Epson. All the Avatar movies alone are still going to be in 3d so it's not dead. Look at all the commenters here who are going away from Epson just on account of this issue.
I don't know what a 3D matrix costs on a video projector, but one of the reasons why 3D TV screens were abandoned was that they were much more expensive to manufacture. I have a 3D video projector and I haven't watched any 3D films for almost two years now, because I'm fed up with losing the brightness and contrast destroyed by 3D glasses. Frankly, you shouldn't deprive yourself of buying a high-performance projector just for one or two interesting 3D films a year. Apart from 3D fans, this is now a secondary criterion in the purchase of a good video projector. 😉
Great review, now if they just came out with a successor to the 4010, with a laser engine, and lower price tag. I can live with a little less contrast if the rest of those features are intact to save another $1,000 or more.
This projector gets the job done pretty well. th-cam.com/users/postUgkxS9P8zTOcmQg-hH0QeUi3dspOLyYgQ6dH Bear in mind it's a mini projector but all things considered the picture quality is pretty good. The attached photo is of the projector projecting onto my white closet doors. I still have not messed with the settings but I can't wait for our first family movie night on a larger scale. If you have issues with volume not working with your firestick, go into volume settings and you will find your solution there.

No 3D? Yup, that's a deal-breaker. Dimmer AND more expensive? This is all disappointing coming from Epson, particularly on a "flagship" model. Good way to boost 5050 sales, though - my very next purchase!
Gaming - nope! First the lag at 4K 60hz is barely acceptable (and not acceptable to many of us). Second, 4K 120hz which is a must for gaming has the same 19.8 Lag. Third, 2500 Lumens isn't so good as Gamers (vs Movie watching) isn't often done in the Dark, and therefore a min of 3000 Lumens is desired. So yeah, I still await a true 4K at 120hz low Lag high Lumen projector 😞..., and so in the meantime I am sticking with my Optoma UHD38, Thank you! 😁
Um it does do 4k 120hz which effectively makes input lag half of that at 60hz. You just need a 2.1 capable reciever and hdmi 2.1 cable to make it work. Also 2500 "real" laser lumens is great. It's night and day different between 3000lumen projectors that have only 1000 useable lumens in usable (colour accurate) picture modes. Also everyone knows if you plan on doing any serious competitive gaming it should be done on a PC and with a gaming monitor or TV 😂
@@ThujanK Nope, it's not going to be HALF of 60hz and instead it is going to equal 60hz (19.8), which isn't terrible for the average Joe, but still unacceptable. So nope, still not for serious (or simply highly skilled) gamers.
@@DanRichardson Agree 🙂... unacceptable, in that I will simply no longer settle for (19.8). I feel a maximum of 16 ms is required (desired) and therefore like to play it safe and obtain something maxing out at say 12 ms (my UHD38, Vizio 65", and Neo G9 all meeting that requirement). So hence I await a new projector that can do at an absolute minimum 4K 120hz 12ms, although honestly I would like 4K 240hz 8ms. That said, I know plenty of people who's reaction times are so much slower than mine that 19.8 would be 'more than enough' and in fact they are very content playing at anything below 30 ms. So hence in my original comment I stated 'highly skilled'... for one need not be a 'serious' gamer, for which I am not, however if one possess good reaction times and can see/feel the difference, then of course one wants a low enough latency where one cannot see/feel the difference.
no 3d no buy, simple. charging more and removing featurs is unacceptable. their chip fully supports 3d yet they do not finish the development to enable it
I don't get why ls800 doesn't support at least HDR10+ while ls11000 and LS12000 support HDR10+ they have the know how they are just lazy to implement it
I noticed your pick it's always Epson. Do you even try JVC? I am very sure you will never go back to your Epson after seeing JVC in real person. It's not even a chance for Epson.
For most people 5k , the price of Epson 12000, is already a lot of money. JVC has left the middle market with the new laser series and now are only making high end products. Not many people are willing or can afford to spend the money for a brand new JVC.
@ronaldchan3401 not everyone can afford 10k for a JVC laser. JVC has priced themselves out of a lot people's budget. JVC was once considered the smart buy because the were very reasonably priced. That is no longer the case.

Sir, I don't believe a word of this review as I did purchase an optoma Darbee on your recommendation and the projector has overblown colours, it's not bright enough due to colour saturaton, poor contrast, the OSD is the size of my foot on a 100" acreen so no Accessibility and no control over colour level.
Native as in native resolution. There are very few 4k projectors that use a native 4k chip and the ones that do are all high end units.
As you say, I'm sure that the LS11000 is perfectly suitable for a dark room, and that the difference in contrast between the two models is bearable. I'm not interested in the TW9400 because it's technically too close to my TW7000 and I'm no longer interested in 3D.
My budget doesn't allow me to buy the LS12000 simply to improve contrast.
It'll be the LS11000, my choice is made, thank you!
Sweet review. The LS12000 and the XW5000ES are on my short list for possible upgrades.
Good review, would love to see you compare v. The new Sony protectors.
You are my favorite AV reviewer and really trust your judgement. Was looking for exactly this video.
Is picture quality noticeably different from 5050? Worth the upgrade?
No Dynamic Tone Mapping, is very disappointing though. I don't know why it's still not featured on Epson's HDR projectors.
Great review Chris! I'm planning on replacing my Sony G90 (been on the ceiling for 15 yrs) with an Epson LS12000
in my dedicated home theater. I'm wondering if you could post a short video on zoom lenses and how it effects
screen sizes, pixel usage, mounting distance, and brightness levels.
If fairness, however, I had to spend a LOT more to get a worthy successor.
yep im 100% dumping epson for this, their chip technically supports it but basically they cator to simps
@@djfirestormx "Simps?"
"You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means."
Of course, I understood what you meant. 😂
These look great.. Will you be reviewing the new BenQ projectors that are coming out?
Thanks!
Still no Dolby Vision ?
is the LS11000 much better than something like the Hisense C2 Ultra? The refurbished models are going for $2800 which is only $300 more than the Hisense.
So you sit 9 feet away from that big a screen? How close can you mount the LS11000 to project a 150" screen? I have only about 15' to work with. :(
Do you have Epson Ls11000 for sale
Any idea what the input lag at 120hz/4k on the LS12000 is? Thanks!
is there a new epson coming out since ls12000 is almost 2 year old...
Epson doesn’t release flagship projectors all that frequently
@@ChrisMajestic so worth to buy the ls12000? or if i cn get the sony 5000 model at $1000 less than the ls12000 is that better deal?
Have you reviewed the Sony 5000es? I couldnt find it in your videos. It seems like the best comparison with this LS1200
Like you, I probably would be ok fiddling with the slider per movie, but there's no way my partner is going to do that
Will this project well on a white painted wall?
Great review ! I’m only interested in a projector if it has 3D unfortunately. I collect 3D movies and my endless search for them extends beyond the U.S. the Samsung wireless 8K UST for 2024 @CES looks like it will have everything..but at what cost ? Maybe I should just forget about future proofing my home theater and go back to Epson 5050UB with HDMI 2.0 😢
didn't these units come out a few years ago? And aren't they fake 4K with pixel shifting 1080?
They came out last year. Pretty much every projector under $10,000 uses pixel shifting. It’s not fake 4k since it meets the standards for 4k certification. The true native 4k non-pixel shifting projectors are slightly sharper though.
@@ChrisMajestic I'm pretty sure Sony XW5000 and JVC NZ7 projectors under 10K are real 4K, look it up.
What projector screen are you using?
Hey Chris! What about the black levels on 3LCD? I think is very poor on the Epson EF-12.
The 5050ub has fantastic black levels. The UB literally stands for ultra black. The ls11000 is very close but not quite as good.
I have a scope screen. It should be roughly the same width screen as yours my seating distance is about the same. I'm having trouble getting a nice crisp image out of the ls11000. Any thoughts or help would be greatly appreciated.

my plasma is dying, greatest tv I've ever had, is a projector just as bright as a plasma in a dark room or dimmer? i own an oled and it had burn after owning it 3 years, so I dont want another oled if i need to be buying one every 3 years
Great review as always Chris.
Here’s a link: th-cam.com/video/HfZmStDoY2I/w-d-xo.html
2. Yes an anamorphic lens can be used with Epson projectors and would accomplish what you want.
3. Yeah the lack of 3D is a bummer.
@@ChrisMajestic Thank you Chris!
What you will acheive, when using an anamorphic lens, is a brighter and better picture, because you are able to use all the projectors available pixels instead of just cutting them off by not showing the black bars on the screen...
essas caixas de som são da definitive technology?
i'd love you to compare the new benq w4000i vs these
Great review. Been waiting for this one
ME TOO. I'VE BEEN GLUED TO TH-cam WAITING FOR THIS
I've gone through various high end projectors (JVC, ESPON, SONY, LG) and searching for the best projector I can buy in terms of performance, convenience and features.
In the video I said the 5050ub has the slight edge on black levels. The extra clarity of being 4k is the real reason I prefer the ls11000
Finally 4K 120fps projector with decent input lag. Now if only it could match OLEDs in PQ
It does run slightly cooler and quieter yes
LS12000 has contrast ratio better than the LS11000 projector, which can be the major difference between the tow.
Thanks Chris - I always love all your content! - Cheers!
Young Man please do you have a review of fixed screen Elite or other brands thank you .Saludos desde Chicago 🇵🇦🇺🇸✌️☮️👍.
Just opened up my first home theater back in November and ended up getting the LS11000, and quite happy with my choice. For the fan noise I actually can't hear much of it being about 3 or 4 feet from it ... Guess my 7.2.4 drowns it out! Thanks for the review and enjoy your content!
How can a new model that cost more not be superior In every aspect compared to the 5050UB.
Can anyone who owned both 5050/6050 and LS11000/12000 confirm that 5050/6050 has better blacks?
Thanks!
Great work! Been waiting for this one! Just as I thought the lack of 3d is disappointing. Therefore moved on to the optoma UHD55 because it checks all the boxes for me. Decent color reproduction, super bright, super silent, crazy good contrast, decent blacks for ambient light/living room viewing .
How does the ls 11000 compare to the best UST units you've reviewed?
Better hdr performance, better contrast, no rainbow effect, and more picture calibration options than most usts. But just not as bright and not as easy to install
@@ChrisMajestic so this unit would perform better in terms of picture quality than the Formovie Theater?
Best projectors 2024 video would be great 💯
Great review Chris, thank you very much! Thanks
The hu810p pops better than the Epson but the black levels weren’t great. Not to mention input lag.
@@yadfgp buy the 12000 if you can, in a bat cave is way better for contrast and black level
Thank you for the review, can you please compare this to the Optoma UHD 55, or just review that unit. We appreciate the hard work, thank you sir.
all of them are much better compared to UHD 55
How was motion? Any different from the 5050ub?
I didn’t really notice a difference in motion.
if you are talking about Epson's problems with displaying 24p content than yes, motion interpolation implemented in those new laser units is a superior solution compared to the older models
Any idea if epson has one in a short throw with the features of this model? Appreciate it!
Closest thing is the LS800 but it’s not 4k and the contrast isn’t as good. In other words, no.
@@ChrisMajestic Again the LS800 also does not support 3d. BUMMER!!😑

3d is still a thing?
LS12000 definitely has deeper black than LS11000.
The LS12000 is definitely more expensive than the LS11000 😂
If epson starts making native 4K and put filmmaker mode in those 2 projectors it be amazing
That would get my attention too!👍
What is the lumens measurement in bright cinema mode?
Great review, now if they just came out with a successor to the 4010, with a laser engine, and lower price tag. I can live with a little less contrast if the rest of those features are intact to save another $1,000 or more.
The LS11000 iis the replacement for the 4000 series, the LS12000 is the replacement for the 50/6050ub.
No 3D. I don't get it. Epson is cutting off a big portion of the HT enthusiast market, like me, that own a large 3D collection.
Pixel shifters ! Not native 4K!
Such an amazing Projector but no 3D is a deal breaker 😢
I love 3D too, but we'll have to forget those glasses that destroy brightness and contrast. 😉

This projector gets the job done pretty well. th-cam.com/users/postUgkxS9P8zTOcmQg-hH0QeUi3dspOLyYgQ6dH Bear in mind it's a mini projector but all things considered the picture quality is pretty good.
If you're calling anything under 20ms unacceptable you're in the wrong market lol
Thanks for video, but I can't afford these.
no 3d no buy, simple. charging more and removing featurs is unacceptable. their chip fully supports 3d yet they do not finish the development to enable it
I don't get why ls800 doesn't support at least HDR10+ while ls11000 and LS12000 support HDR10+ they have the know how they are just lazy to implement it

But I will be reviewing them on the channel in the future
For most people 5k , the price of Epson 12000, is already a lot of money. JVC has left the middle market with the new laser series and now are only making high end products. Not many people are willing or can afford to spend the money for a brand new JVC.
@ronaldchan3401 not everyone can afford 10k for a JVC laser. JVC has priced themselves out of a lot people's budget. JVC was once considered the smart buy because the were very reasonably priced. That is no longer the case.
