Machine in 06 was such a cool year…seems like BD was beating them all year until Atlanta, which Cavies took and never looked back….still one of my favorite shows still!
I've always loved and admired the Cavies but even I did not know they were that successful. The M&M precision and overall shows were spectacular and awe inspiring. I get chocked up sometimes watching such performances because I admire the dicipline and hard work it takes to achieve all of this. Amazing all male corps.
I'm just mad PR decided to do Sparticus in 08 because Samurai is by far my favorite Cavies show. Don't remember who was second (probably BD), but I remember I thought the cavies drill was better when I saw the two of them.
Four Corners is one of the Greatest Shows (All Captions) Ever!! I’ve always thought that the Horn Line suffered in this era due to their amazing M&M. That being said I believe their contribution to Drum Corps is cemented in this decade. They were simply OUTSTANDING 🥂
Hey man. Don’t beat yourself up. I marched in 2001 in a D2 in DCI Midwest and I must have seen your show 30 times. It’s probably my favorite show to this day. Hell, I still have my Cavi’s 2001 tshirt that I picked up somewhere in my closet that I still wear on occasion. Thank you for the great performances!!!
@@BungSmuggler haha! Yeah, thank god too. I cringe just remembering some of the dumb stuff I did on tour. I can’t imagine if it was immortalized in video/social media.
No question the Cavies were the corps of the Oughts, just as The Cadets were the corps of the 80’s, (83-85,87) and if one goes by 83-93, that’s 6 championships in that time span.
@@timber72 Don’t get me wrong, I love SCV, a big supporter, in terms of 2nd place standings, well yeah SCV did great. Cadets got the three-peat and ended up with 4 championships compared to SCVs 2 (81,89)

Garfield (since we're talking about the 80s) placed 7th in '81, 3rd in '82, 4th in '86. 4th in '88, and 5th in '89. SCV, on the other hand, placed 3rd in '83 and '84, and 2nd *every other year* in the same time period. Do the math. SCV comes out on top with 5 (5!) 2nd place finishes, 2 3rds and 2 titles. Sadly we don’t live in that multiverse, sadly we live in a reality where SCV got 7th in 1980 and the Cadets won those championships and at the end of the day when you have 2 corps that had tremendous success in the decade, got to by the rings and the results that took place, not what we desire the results to be. Before covid derailed them, they were on fire. 2019 they had one of the best musical shows in a decade. Hopefully they get back after it next year and this beerflu nonsense goes away.
As you watch this you can see they won on hard work and discipline rather than a bunch of dancing like the BD's do and get top GE scores thay do not deserve.
So what happened to the Cavaliers? Their drill is nowhere near what it was in the early 2000s. They're just an average drum corps now. Did they get a new director?
Board of directors weren’t pleased with their 2009 placements, and made a lot of changes. Michael Gaines, their drill writer left in between 2011 and 2012.

Agreed. Especially with them winning drums in 2011
Yea, but 2010-2011 is when the Devils started taking over, the 2000's belongs to the Cavaleirs and the 2010's belong to the Blue Devils.

anyone notice the guard member at 12:40 splitting the 35 and 40 in the front row jump and catch the rifle toss that wouldve hit the horn player?

99' and 2000 singlehandedly got me hooked on anything DCI....they don't write shows like this anymore I'm sorry 😂 Brett Kuhn was just on another level
What an honor and a privilege it was to be a small part of this. Thanks for posting!
I loved machine the most for some reason. Cavies' shows area always entertaining and that Gaines drill was awesome!
Marian Catholic did Niagara Falls in 1999, the Cavaliers did it in 2000, both groups from the Chicago area.
Great collection. However Cavies came in 3rd place in 2007, not 2nd.
He got it wrong on the video clip but right in the end recap.
Cavaliers are always great. 1991 was also a great show.
