- On Saturday, October 27, 2018 at Basilica Hudson in Hudson, NY there was a Pioneering People Basilica Benefit Tribute to Courtney Love. Michael Stipe was supposed to be one of the guest performers, but he was sick. This video starts with his video message explaining this (and he sings some of "Doll Parts"). Then Courtney Love, Melissa Auf der Maur, guitarist Tad Kubler and the local Rock Academy Rebel Girls perform Hole's "Doll Parts" and "Miss World" to end the night. www.mostpeopleareblank.com

As much as I hate to say it, Courtney's voice is fried with a capital "F." Her voice used to be interesting-not pretty by any means, but it was unique and worked for the kind of music she made. Decades of screaming and hundreds of thousands of cigarettes have completely ravaged her vocal cords. She can hardly play guitar anymore either and seems to have no ambition to practice. Hole made great music, but I'll be surprised if we see another album from her. I think she's done, partly because she simply can't hack it anymore, and she probably doesn't see a need to.
Wow! Lots of rude comments. Why? The band is comprised of 15 year old girls who were honored to play back up for a legend like Courtney. A one time event. Courtney was amazing.
I enjoyed this, especially when the drums came in on Doll Parts. Love the guitar in Miss World. Keep on rocking! 🤘

That Melissa and Courtney was in the same place, without any lawyers in between for royalties is a real goal.
I feel so bad for this. Melissa has kept her talents, not so much Courtney. Makes me sad that Courtney used to be so powerful, amazing screamer (never a really great singer) but she could sing her own songs and sound great. Now she has proven all of her haters right by doing this. What happened to her? Really? She was so kick ass! Did she burn out too fast? Was it the drugs?she can't play guitar, sing, or even write anymore. Well,maybe she can write, I don't know. Makes me sad. I loved Hole so much. Especially Pretty on the Inside. Kick ass record. What happened to her? And don't say she never had the talent cuz she did. Eric wrote most of Hole songs at least with the guitar parts. It was never Kurt. Eric doesn't get the credit he deserves for those songs. She was the lyrics though, and kick ass lyrics they were. Now, what happened? Can this be answered? Now all she does is name drop, go to fashion shows, get plastic surgery and spend money she probably doesn't have. Where does her income come from now? The estate? Isn't that Francis' money? Anyway. I don't know. I am just so disappointed seeing her now. I loved her so much. She did turn out to be the opposite of what she presented at first. All contrived. All for stupid celebrity crap. Ok, Xoxoxo.
I agree with what you wrote. Kat bjelland once said in an interview that she liked playing music and that Courtney Love liked being famous. I think that pretty much sums it up.
so sad and so true. she became extremely self absorbed, and never had the discipline to write, record and tour. its such a waste because her sonɡs were ɡood and some had teeth.

I would love to see this live in any case since its a legendary moment, i'm sure for the complainers on here this was thrown together with little rehearsal. Courtney lets out a laugh at 5:32 because of the backup singer is so brutal. Funny moment.
Courtney is the most overrated so called artist. "Little rehearsal" is no excuse for the simplest song ever written. She's rushing and not even listening. This is horrible.

In my opinion that was really awful. the guitar rythm wasnt good.and courtneys singing was miserable too..melissa didnt find the harmonics in doll parts cause of courtneys bad singing...better watching hole unplugged from 1995, cause that was high quality music from Hole back in the days.

Really? I don't think Courtney sounded that bad. I mean her thing IS basically to scream and moan slightly out of tune. It's what she does. Seemed pretty on par with the recordings. The harmony's between her and Melissa seemed really messed up though. Out of sync.

I love this woman and I have been obsessed with her my whole entire life but all of the drugs and the smoking has screwed her voice into oblivion. The cigarette smoking has addled her lung capacity to the point that even her screech doesn’t sound good anymore. I have so much respect for her but I honestly think that she should be lip singing and a track playing in the background.. I love you Courtney!!!!!!!!!!

I'm still a Hole fan after all of these years, and I'm a bit dismayed with this performance. It just seems... really off. I mean, she even trashed Miss World, and you can tell how off it sounds - if you can't... It seems Melissa kind of found her backing parts in it though. The reason for my disappointment is because I know this could be so much better, and I expect better from people who have done so well. However, it's still nice to see Melissa and Courtney together like this; I may not have enjoyed this performance, but these are some badass women.

Timing was off. That's Courtney though, those are her songs. That's most singers that write songs. She was just off beat because she didn't want Melissa to steal her songs. All musicians are like that.

melissa sounded out of tune because she was the only one in tune. i can’t blame the others, though, i’m sure the backup singers were nervous and courtney’s voice has been torn apart by years of smoking cigarettes. melissa was still absolutely captivating here.

Just a fun private party show. The drinking messes everything up. If they actually hired talent to rewrite every coffee shop song. Too many drunk fans singing too. It could pass as newsworthy. Maybe better effects n sythbacking tracks. And a vocal effect or two of water chorus or something not so 2010 coffee shop. Anyone's grandma can play that tune. No one wants to see grandma when she's had too many.
