  • Hugh Ross is a Canadian astrophysicist. He obtained his Ph.D. in astronomy from the University of Toronto and his B.Sc. degree in physics from the University of British Columbia. He established his own ministry in 1986, called Reasons to Believe.
    I had the privilege of meeting with Hugh & then also filming this fascinating lecture. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
    Here is a link to his website where you will find a plethora of resources: reasons.org/?gclid=CjwKCAjw3P...

      Nope. This is a common Chrisitan trick, of turning questions of FACT into questions of CHARACTER. Therefore, for eg, a question of FACT such as 'whether god/s exist in the first place' is cunningly transformed into a question of 'whether you have the character to rise above your pride and submit to the almighty.' So it becomes less about whether ideas are supported by evidence, and more about pressuring ppl to accept the ideas that a 'good' person would accept. Pressure is ramped up with threats of pain and suffering.
      It is a trick, and once ppl see it they can't unsee it, and start to see it everywhere in your script. It is essentially 'accept my ideas or you are evil, (and further, deserving of eternal torture).
      It is truly sick.

The fact is that Christianity is an eastern religion that has been turned into a western religion and had whatever redeeming values ripped from it. St Paul claims Christians will be transformed but here you are judging a man you have probably never met, but if you have met him it was only for a moment and you don’t really know him. Someday, the Lord will reveal who was teaching truth and who was teaching falsehood. Don't fret.
      On another note, after much study and reflection, I have switched from a YEC view to and OEC view. The main reason was the inconsistencies in the YEC view that I hadn't seen before, such as "reading all Scripture literally." But YEC people I know don't do that. They believe in a moving Earth rotating on it's axis and revolving around the Sun. They didn't get that view from Scripture. Scripture describes a stationary Earth in a Geocentric system. So the YEC position is compromised by their picking and choosing what to take literally. The other issue that moved me away from 24 hour days was the events of Day 6. Far too much happens to fit into one day.

    The thing is, that a single decision in the spirit world gives a spectrum of results in the physical world. The effects of one spiritual action, such as the creation of animals, produces entire animals, complete in every way. In spirit all things are known. That means that the issue is not how can I build an animal, but what uses can I think of for this animal which I know will turn out perfect. Earth started as an idea in God's mind and that idea was enough to cascade throughout creation. In the case of Man that is a different story because God is a Divine Man, present before Creation, meaning that we can all experience infinity.

      "Only Christianity"? I don't know what this astrophysicist took before that lecture, but all the definitions he talks about existed long time before Christianity, and have been given by God to his chosen people, the Jews. Claiming that only Christianity has is an idol worshipping.

    • @RodMartinJr
      @RodMartinJr หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@laylasmart Not really. For most of my 74 years I thought similarly, but I was wrong. Solving the puzzle of getting back to heaven from this physical training ground is extremely difficult. Only one person did this -- the one who became named "Christ." If you read John 3.13 carefully, you'll see that Christ is telling Nicodemus that he had been in heaven before coming to Earth to be Mary's son, Jesus. *_But before he was in heaven, he had become the First to go up to heaven from the Earth._*
      Before the Big Bang, God had Christianity already figured out. He knew its placement in history, right at the correct moment in time when cultures were mixing and philosophical thought was blossoming. People were mentally prepared for learning something brazenly new. A century earlier or later would have been the wrong time. He even knew that Christianity would become horribly corrupted in the 4th century.
      In everything, the *_FIRST_* to do something is always the person who receives all of the accolades and responsibilities which come from that accomplishment. The first-place winner in a race, the first person to discover a newly known species, the first man to break the sound barrier (Chuck Yeager), and the first person to break the 4-minute mile (Roger Bannister). The Entity known as Christ, who possessed the temporary body known as "Jesus" ("Yeshua") of Nazareth, was that *_FIRST._*
      Now, this is not proof in the scientific sense, but it is the rationale for why God chose Jesus Christ to be mediator between man and God. Even Siddhartha Gautama knew of someone superior to himself who would come from the West a few centuries later; he was that spiritually aware.

    The spirit world has dimensions just like this world. The point is that in spirit time is psychological and so is space. You think your way around and you age only as your mind-set matures. So, you need a physics of psychology to understand the spirit world. Animals and plants are the thought-forms of higher entities. The landscape is the thought form of God. This world is but the effect of a whole heap of life going on spirit.

      Echo chamber? Do you have any idea what the culture is like in Physics?
      Listen mate I don't have to prove anything to you but I was not always a Christian. I used to live an occultist lifestyle like Thoth the Atlantean. If you want proof of the existence and power of God, look no further than me
      It was not possible for me alone to break my addictions and destructive lifestyle, it was only by the grace and power of Jesus that I was delivered from evil. Salvation is a gift from God, not works of man
      Please look into the historicity of Jesus. It is unanimous amongst the leading scholars - most of whom are obviously secular (i.e. not Christian) - that Jesus was a real man, lived when they said he did, did all the things they said he did, was crucified and died on the cross. The only thing the secular and religious scholars disagree on is whether or not Jesus rose from the dead, i.e. whether or not Jesus is the Son of God
      Even the secular and non-Christian scholars admit that the disciples and followers of Jesus, including the 500+ who were witnesses at the same time, believed that they saw the risen Jesus Christ. It's the only thing the secular scholars can fall back on, "they believed they saw it", rather than it actually happened. If they were to admit it was factually correct like the rest of their analyses into the historicity of Jesus, then they would have to concede the Jesus is the Son of God. It is their pride that stops them, not the evidence. They don't want God to be real because it would force them to examine their life choices
      Please look into Dr. Gary Habermas and his minimal facts argument for a detailed discussion of the above. It is a scientific fact.
      Don't dismiss or say it's legend or whatever because history and historicity is a scientific discipline. A myth takes generations or centuries to form whereas the historicity of Jesus proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that the "legend" of Jesus started within MONTHS of the cross by multiple proofs, with the obvious conclusion being it actually started within days of Jesus' Resurrection - it was no myth, no fairy tale
      When you understand there are 9 historical references for the Emperor of Rome - Tiberius - and 40 references for Jesus - a carpenter from Bethlehem - perhaps you might begin to consider why that is. How can there be 4 times more separate, secular and religious, historical references for Jesus than the Emperor of Rome?
      Check out the fine-tuning argument and the irreducible complexity arguments, both are which provide proof that is orders of magnitude greater than the threshold required to believe it
      It is not me who lives in an echo chamber my friend, it is you. You have never heard the proof of Jesus and the proof of God because you have been insulated from it and have no desire to look at it. You love your sin, your life, your ego, more than the truth
      Just as 99% of Muslims don't know the true story of the death of Mohammed, just as 99% of Catholics don't know the truth about the Pope and the Jesuits - neither do you know the truth about God and Jesus
      I urge you to escape your echo chamber and examine the evidence. My favourite commentator on this is Professor John Lennox, who like me is Northern Irish and is a mathematician (he was the leading maths prof at Oxford and is now Emeritus Professor at Oxford in mathematics, certainly no fool)
      Peace and God bless you my friend

    If everyone only knew how specific everything has to be down to how 1% more or less of each individual element has to exist in the earth for us to exist they would realize only a masterful creator could have created all of this. It would take over a trillion accidents to happen at perfectly the right time for us to exist. Anyone who thinks we’re in the matrix needs to realize there’s more programming in one single cell than all the computer coding we’ve ever created . Thats insane. It would take hundreds of trillions of years to program one human being.

    • @ronaldrrootiii6040
      @ronaldrrootiii6040 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes but with those statistics being super improbable it is still leaving a chance for it to happen randomly. And the fact that there are so many other failures out there maybe they are all the failed possibilities and we are the one single one and the size of the universe literally allows us to be that one out of billions and trillions or more. Because when I hear people say oh the chance is so little I'm like yeah so we're the one and space is the rest of the failed chances. The thing that bothers me is that the televangelists who heal people a lot of times turn out to be a fraud and they follow up with almost every case and the person was never healed or just walked because of adrenaline and wasn't actually unable to walk just had an injury or arthritis. But what about people healing blind? Jesus healed blind and said that we could and in the book of Acts they did so why is no one nowadays ever healing someone who was born blind? You never once heard about a person born blind or deaf who has been healed by a Christian at all ever out of all the most faithful people and preachers and Believers you have never heard of any one single blind person being healed yet Jesus did it and said we could do it. Unfortunately as great as the message of Christianity is it really is just an echo chamber of if you talked about it a lot and you think about it a lot and you keep it in your head a lot it helps you believe it when there is literally nothing in front of you to really make you have a reason to believe other than it is a great thing to believe because why not it seems great. But really without constantly hearing about it just going on throughout your day if you didn't have the guilt trip of turning away from it you really don't actually see it you really don't experience it and no blinds have ever been healed that were born blind

      If they have the will, to remove evil, and cannot , then they are not omnipotent. If they can but will not, then they are not benevolent. If they are neither able nor willing, they are neither omnipotent nor benevolent.
      Lastly, if they are both able and willing, to annihilate evil, why does it exist?’ Epicurus
      “It doesn't seem to me that this fantastically marvelous universe, this tremendous range of time and space and different kinds of animals, and all the different planets, and all these atoms with all their motions, and so on, all this complicated thing can merely be a stage so that God can watch human beings struggle for good and evil - which is the view that religion has. The stage is too big for the drama.” ― Richard P. Feynman (1918-1988) American theoretical physicist

    Thank you for the new ideas of heaven! I know enough science that i will have fun with my brains!

      I am sorry for your suffering, the world can be a cold hard place. On thing to consider is donating to charities like Doctors Without Borders. Effective Altruism is a big thing today and there are sites that help with gaging how effective charities are. Also consider listening to podcasts that talk about the good things going on out there and don’t watch the news all the time, it can be overwhelming. Best

    Where did the heavier elements come from in our soler system? Also where did they come in the near star system? If the stars still didn't go supernova and we do not have any neutron stars nearby, where did the material for planets and moons and comets come from?

    There are no physics associated with evil.
    It's 100% human nature. It's identifiable. It's predictable. And it can be dealt with. Thanks to the flawless word of God.

      Evil is bigger than humanity! The Nacash (serpent) rebelled/sinned, and caused Adam and Eve to fall…
      Ephesians 6:12
      For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the RULERS of the DARKNESS of this WORLD, against SPIRITUAL WICKEDNESS in HIGH PLACES
      2 Corinthians 10:3-5
      For though we walk in the flesh, we do NOT WAR AFTER THE FLESH:
      4 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of STRONGHOLDS;)
      5 CASTING DOWN of IMAGINATIONS, and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, and BRINGING INTO CAPTIVITY EVERY THOUGHT TO THE OBEDIENCE OF CHRIST
      2 Corinthians 4:2-4
      But have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man's conscience in the sight of God.
      3 But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: in WHOM THE GOD OF THIS WORLD HAS BLINDED THE MINDS OF THEM WHICH BELIEVE NOT, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.
      5 FOR WE PREACH NOT OURSELVES, BUT CHRIST JESUS THE LORD; and ourselves your servants for Jesus' sake.
      6 For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
      Ephesians 2:1-3
      And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the PRINCE OF THE POWER OF THE AIR, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:
      3 Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of WRATH, even as others.
      Ephesians 4:17-19
      This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind,
      Having the understanding darkened, BEING ALIENATED from the LIFE OF GOD THROUGH THE IGNORANCE THAT IS IN THEM, BECAUSE OF THE BLINDNESS OF THEIR HEART:
      19 WHO BEING PAST FEELING, have given themselves over unto lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness.
      2 Timothy 2:22-26
      Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, love, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.
      23 But foolish and unlearned questions avoid, knowing that they do gender strifes.the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient,
      25 In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;
      26 AND THAT THEY MAY RECOVER THEMSELVES OUT OF THE SNARE OF THE DEVIL, WHO ARE TAKEN CAPTIVE BY HIM AT HIS WILL

      The physics of evil is the exact opposite to the physics of good. Good attracts good, evil attracts evil. Good soothes evil, whilst evil attacks good. In the spirit world there is only spiritual physics, and that is based on thought. You think your location and you think your everyday activities. The entire spirit world is made of such thinking, mainly from The Lord but also from his angels. But, everything in the spirit world is good, so if you drop a hammer it will never bust your toe! That would be physically impossible there. But in Hell it will always create damage!

      Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
      11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to STAND against the wiles of the devil.
      12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the RULERS of the DARKNESS of this WORLD, against SPIRITUAL WICKEDNESS in HIGH PLACES
      13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to WITHSTAND in the evil day, and having done all, to STAND.
      14 STAND therefore, having your LOINS GIRT ABOUT WITH THE TRUTH, and having on the BREASTPLATE OF RIGHTEOUSNESS;
      15 Having YOUR FEET SHOD with the PREPARATION of the GOSPEL of PEACE;
      Above all, taking the SHIELD OF FAITH, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
      And take the HELMET of SALVATION, and the SWORD of the SPIRIT, WHICH is THE WORD of GOD:
      18 praying with all prayer and supplication in the spirit, and watching thereunto with all PERSEVERANCE and supplication for all saints.
      19 And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may OPEN MY MOUTH BOLDLY, to MAKE KNOWN the MYSTERY of the GOSPEL
      Hebrews 4:12
      For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart
      1 Corinthians 2:12-14
      Now we have received, NOT the SPIRIT of the WORLD, but the SPIRIT which is of GOD, that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.
      13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.
      14 But the NATURAL MAN RECEIVES NOT the THINGS of the SPIRIT OF GOD: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are SPIRITUALLY DISCERNED

    This shows we are living in a universe that is both artificial (created) and real (not simulated). If it were simulated there would be no reason to deal with all the fine tuning, the just right enormous mass and narrow time window for civilization to exist with ability to observe the beginning and so on. For God so loved the world, more than we can ever imagine.

      @Xzplizit yes, it's amazing!! It goes into so much detail into things that we are dying to know and are so confused from. It explains the origins of demons, what aliens are, judgments of God from the past, and in depth of Noah's arc. It just opens up so much understanding. They have the same 66 books we do. They just have 22 books that expand the stories, and that are of hebraic origin.

      Careful not to impose western thinking on eastern traditions. The east (including Ethiopian orthodox) don't actually have a cannon in the same way protestants and Catholics do. They hold "Holy tradition" as equal to scripture and place less emphasis on scripture since it's ultimately their church that interprets everything and says how to apply it. Therefore in a practical sense it is liturgy and priests not scripture that hold the rule of faith and say what binds the conscience. Because of this we can not look at their canon as having the same infallible truth as our canon. There are good reasons they rest of Christianity has a smaller canon.

    A lot of people want to blame God for evil, sickness and so on. But it is my belief God did not cause sickness, pain, evil and so on. It is us humans that has caused sickness pain and one could even argue evil. Stop blaming God for our shortcomings and start blaming man for it. Blaming God will only get you to an eternity in hell. Believe in God and love him before it’s too late for you. Once you are in hell there will be no escaping.

      Brother, really sin, evil and pain are in God's wisdom the path to perfection of man. Life can only come from death. Weeping endures for a night but joy comes in the morning. God is perfect and doeth no evil. His ways are perfect and all His ways are just, God of faithfulness without injustice. It is man's refusal to trust, yield, submit to this loving perfect God that he remains in sin, evil and pains.

      No God did not cause suffering and death, he just created the world to do that because he knew that we were bad. Why the judge analogy if God really is love? Why not the doctor or healer? Because the religion comes from the ancient world when despots were venerated for survival‘s sake. Why the infatuation with spilled blood and burning animal fur making a sweet smell in his nose? It’s kinda weird no?
