They are a detriment to growing the Kingdom of Heaven because they’re using Gods’ Word as evidence that plainly doesn’t fit the bill. Nowhere does it give the earth an age and their arguments for using it as evidence fall flat and the anti science stance just doesn’t correlate in a world with so much technological advancement. I have mentioned that there is a global society of geologists numbering around 30,000 and of those, perhaps 6 agree with young earth beliefs. The hard headed lack of rationale to defend their position firmly and positively just makes believers of all stripes look foolish.

      The Messiah son of Mary,
was no more than a servant of God,
so do not worship the creation,
for such would be unholy and flawed,
The Divine has no sons or daughters,
but stands alone, transcendent and supreme,
So fill your worship with fervor and passion,
but beware of falling into extremes
Christ himself preached & called to God,
the Almighty, both his Lord and ours,
and the mighty miracles he performed,
availed not but by God’s blessing and powers
Oh Christians, deviate not like the ancients,
who went astray, falling misguided and lost,
giving glory to forbidden images and symbols,
and replacing pure faith with a cross
Follow no creed but the creed of Abraham,
      an upright and moral achiever,
who he was neither a Jew nor a Christian,
but a fully devoted and humble believer
This is the message of the prophets of old, from the time of Noah and the generations beyond,
that there is none worthy of worship,
but the one Creator, to whom we shall all respond
He revealed the Torah and the Gospel,
and many scriptures before and between,
and at last the Glorious Qur’an,
full of truth, guidance, and esteem
So respond to the call of your Lord,
and turn not away with a heart of stone,
but repent, and come back to the Compassionate One,
and Paradise you shall then call your home.

      Did Jesus keep the Sabbath?
Certainly Jesus kept the Sabbath. He lived under the Law Moses. "But when the fullness of the time came, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the Law" (Galatians 4:4). As an observant Jew, Jesus was circumcised (Luke 2:21.) He kept the Passover (Luke 22:15). There is no mention of his observing the Sabbath after his resurrection, even though he remained on the earth for some 40 days. That would include at least five Sabbath days.
The reason we find no further observance of the Sabbath is seen in the fact that the Sabbath and other Old Testament observances were abolished at the death of Christ. "When you were dead in your transgressions and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He made you alive together with Him, having forgiven us all our transgressions, having canceled out the certificate of debt consisting of decrees against us, which was hostile to us; and He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross. When He had disarmed the rulers and authorities, He made a public display of them, having triumphed over them through Him. Therefore no one is to act as your judge in regard to food or drink or in respect to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath day-things which are a mere shadow of what is to come; but the substance belongs to Christ" (Colossians 2:13-17).
The Scripture says Christ took the decrees out of the way, having nailed them to the cross. Therefore, we are not to be judged any more concerning food or drink (dietary laws), or the observance of special days (including Sabbath days) or seasons. One commentary states: "The word 'judge' here is used in the sense of pronouncing a sentence. The meaning is, `since you have thus been delivered by Christ from the evils which surrounded you; since you have been freed from the observances of the law, let no one sit in judgment on you, or claim the right to decide for you in those matters'" (Albert Barnes). The apostle Paul, by inspiration declares that the Sabbath day has no more significance to us any more than the feast days, etc. We do not live under the Old Testament system at this time.

@@kac0404 wrong wrong wrong. The law was NEVER nailed to the cross. Christ IS the Law. It was NOT done away with. The ONLY thing that changed were sacrificial laws since Christ was the ultimate sacrifice.

    • @kac0404
      @kac0404 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@nevswain478 When the Bible says “law” or “law of Moses” it is referring to the ceremonial laws. When the Bible says “law of God” or “law of the Lord” it is referring to the ten commandments. Making this argument is another attempt at maintaining the Sabbath command for Christian to keep today. The Bible makes no such differentiation in terms. Luke 2:22-24 uses the phrase “law of the Lord” to refer to the “ceremonial laws” of offering sacrifices following the birth of a child. Nehemiah 8:1,8 not only uses the phrases law of Moses and law of the Lord interchangeably, but also refers to the book of the law (which contains what is considered to be the ceremonial laws) as being the “law of the Lord.” In Romans 7:4, Paul refers to the “law” as being done away with and then defines this “law” in verse 7 as that which states, “Thou shalt not covet.” This command is found in the ten commandments, not among the “ceremonial laws.” Therefore, it is the ten commandments that have been done away as well as all the other laws given through Moses.

    • @kac0404
      @kac0404 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@nevswain478 What is wrong with the Old Covenant?
The Hebrews writer states unequivocally that the First Covenant was faulty (Hebrews 8:7). "For if that first covenant had been faultless, then should no place have been sought for the second." This covenant was faulty in that it did not make provision for the removal and forgiveness of sins. This is not to say there was not forgiveness under the Old Law. Moses repeatedly interceded for the people, asking God to forgive them and God forgave. "Pardon, I beseech thee, the iniquity of this people according unto the greatness of thy mercy, and as thou hast forgiven this people, from Egypt even until now. And the Lord said, I have pardoned according to thy word:" (Numbers 14:19, 20). David prayed a similar prayer; acknowledging that God had forgiven him (Psalm 32). However, because of the limitations of animal sacrifices the sins of the old covenant worshipper were not completely forgiven. The Hebrews writer sheds light on the true purpose of the Old Covenant sacrifice. "But in those sacrifices there is a remembrance again made of sins every year. For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins" (Hebrews 10:3, 4). It is probably better stated that under the Old Covenant the God-fearing worshipper did not enjoy complete or absolute forgiveness of sins. What they did enjoy was a relationship with God as a result of their obedience in doing what was commanded of God. However, God was not completely forgiving their sins "at that point." Paul describes what God did as, "Ébecause in His forbearance God had passed over the sins that were previously committed" (Romans 3:25b, NKJV). This then should help answer the query as to how the Old Covenant worshipper could enjoy a complete forgiveness of sins. The answer is through the blood of the perfect Lamb of God, Jesus Christ. The blood of Jesus Christ was retroactive to all that faithfully endeavored to walk according to God's ways before Calvary. The Old Covenant sacrifices were anticipatory to something better, which was fulfilled in Jesus Christ.

@kac0404. First, I ask that before responding to this post, please read and consider what I’ve written with a true and sincere heart? My intention is not to debate, but to share in a sincere manner what l believe from my heart. My brother, you say that the 10 commandments are done away with. This is a grave error. I see that you’re misinterpreting some of the verses you quote. We must be careful how we regard God’s holy law of the 10 commandments.
      1. The Bible says that our sins have separated us from God (Is. 59:2) and therefore this has made us destitute of the glory of God (Rom. 3:23), precisely because of our sins.
      2. What exactly is sin? People have many interpretations of what sin is but let us stick to the biblical definition: sin is “transgression of the law” or “lawlessness.”(1Jn. 3:4). One could also include vs. 6, “Whoever abides in Him does not sin”- same thing bc if we abide in Jesus we will not go around sinning (ie., breaking God’s law).
      3. Why did Jesus die for us? 1 Peter 3:18, “For Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God,.…” For the wages of sin is death, Rom. 6:23. Jesus came to reconcile us back to God lest we suffer eternal destruction.
Another way of looking at this is that bc the penalty for breaking God’s law is eternal death, and bc God wanted to spare us from that eternal or second death (Rev. 20:6), Jesus had to become incarnated in order to die for all of humanity (Jn. 3:16). In this way He fulfilled the demands of violating God’s moral law. Some say that God could have simply undone the claims of the law or merely done away with the law altogether. That option would have spared the life of our Lord and He would not have had to suffer so. However, the Bible clearly shows that option to be null and void, bc Jesus actually did what He did precisely because the law could not be changed. The penalty of eternal death had to be paid by either us or Jesus. But it had to be paid bc of the immutability of the law. In Matthew 5:17-18 Jesus says, “Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill. For assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled. The law is actually eternal, just like God Himself. Psalm 111:7-8 “The works of His hands are verity and justice; All His precepts are sure. They stand fast forever and ever, And are done in truth and uprightness.”
      4. Throughout all of history and especially in the end of time, how can God judge the world fairly without a law? How can we know between right and wrong without His holy law? God alone has the right and authority to determine what is right and wrong bc He is the one and only uncreated and Almighty, Holy, Creator God. He alone can hold his moral creatures, accountable to whether they have obeyed his commands, based on what is right and wrong. The only way of knowing what is right and wrong is through His holy law (Rom. 7:12). “If you really fulfill the royal law according to the Scripture, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself,’ you do well; but if you show partiality, you commit sin,…For whoever shall keep the whole law, and yet stumble in one point, he is guilty of all. For He who said, ‘Do not commit adultery,’ also said, ‘Do not murder.’ Now if you do not commit adultery, but you do murder, you have become a transgressor of the law. So speak and so do as those who will be judged by the law of liberty.” James 2:8-12
      5. Let me be clear: The Bible does not say that we are saved by keeping the law of God, even though the Jews in Jesus’ day believed that. However, they had misinterpreted scripture, just like many today do. Jesus came to show them and the world that salvation is only through Him, Jn. 5:24. No, we are saved through faith and by God’s grace alone. Eph. 2:8-10. The purpose of the law is to guide us into sanctification, or good works. See Eph. 2:10. The law is given to those who are already saved: Exodus 20:1-2. And God spoke all these words, saying, “I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.” Remember that the law of God is a law of love and a reflection of who God is- RIGHTEOUS, HOLY and GOOD. Psalm 119:142 says: “Your righteousness is an everlasting righteousness, And Your law is truth.” Psalm 119:138: “Your testimonies, which You have commanded, Are righteous and very faithful.” In 1 John 5:3 the beloved John says, “For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome.”
      6. Those who would undo the commandments of God are working against God. Psalm 119:139 “My zeal has consumed me, Because my enemies have forgotten Your words.” And Psalm 119:126-127, “It is time for You to act, O Lord,For they have regarded Your law as void. Therefore I love Your commandments more than gold, yes, than fine gold!”
      7. John the beloved said that he who keeps Gods laws have the Holy Spirit , 1 John 3:24 “Now he who keeps His commandments abides in Him, and He in him. And by this we know that He abides in us, by the Spirit whom He has given us.” This makes sense bc God’s law is spiritual in nature, Romans 7:14 “For we know that the law is spiritual, but I am carnal, sold under sin.”
      8. Satan has had a contention with God’s law from the very beginning and knows this is one thing that will steer people away from the love of God (Ex. 20:6). So he’s mustered all his efforts to get the world to violate this law of love bc it identifies who is the true God: the Maker of heaven and earth (Ex. 20:11). He’s wanted to usurp God’s place since the beginning- and what better way than to “undo” God’s law and establish his own? See Is. 14:13-14 and Lam. 2:9. Also 1Jn. 3:8. Let us who are born again not be led by the enemy’s ploys or the works of the flesh but by the Spirit of God in truth, faith and love (1Jn. 3:9 & 1Jn 5:1-2). Also note that without truth love is invalidated. (Jn 18:37; 1Jn. 2:4-5). Colossians 3:12-15 says, Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering,…And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful.
      9. Finally, we are called to be a holy people. See 1Pet. 2:9. The 4th commandment is actually a special commandment bc in it God gives us a clue as to what He thinks of His law. The 4th command is actually a sign that we are sanctified and holy. See Ex. 31:13-14 & Eze. 20:12 & 20. The truth is that the saved of the Lord will keep the 4th commandment throughout all the ages in the new heavens and new earth according to Is. 66:22-23. The Sabbath commandment was not nailed to the cross. If it was, the other nine commandments were; and we are at liberty to break them all, which doesn’t make sense to the law of the land, as well as in God’s kingdom. Any kingdom or government without law is chaotic. The holy Sabbath is, and will be, the separating wall between the true Israel of God and unbelievers. I don’t pretend to be a perfect law keeper but I trust and pray that Christ will live out His law and life in me, Gal. 2:20, just as He promised to those that live by the New Covenant (Heb. 10:16). One of the last declarations given in God’s word for all those who seek to follow Him in sincerity and truth is, “Here is the patience of the saints; here are those who keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus.” Revelation 14:12

When I was just 8, I tore some pages off an astronomy book from the library to keep, because I was so intrigued by the images of the planets. Eeeeks... Thank you Jesus for forgiving me for that act. 30+years have gone and I am still so fascinated by celestial bodies in outer space but I am so thankful to now know it was through Jesus whom all these were made. I have just organised a farm trip end of the year and one of the things our family wants to do will be star gazing. In the city, we hardly can see many stars. Hopefully we will be able to see so much more when we go to the farm. Really want to admire Abba Father's glory in the heavens.

1 - Sabbath was created by God at Creation week, not by Jews, neither by Adventists. 2 - God already knew that men would fall. He created Sabbat as a memorial between him and us, as a remembrance of the eternal life that would be waiting for us if we'd go back home. 3 - God also placed the Sabbath as the fourth commandment, otherwise men would forget about it. And that is why the fourth commandment begins with "Remember". Isn't that enough? 4 - In the book of Exodus, for fourty yrs, in every Friday there was a double portions of Mana from heaven. 5 - Jesus in Matheus 24 tells us to pray for the tribulation to not happen on Sabbatt. Isn't it enough either? 6 - Why Jesus said that he is the Lord of the Sabbatt, if it was alright to keep any day of the week? 7- Is there any word bigger than God's word? How many more excuses people will find to desobey God, and replace Sabbath with Sun-Day? I am not Adventist.

@@MariaLuciaSL You are not an Adventist, but a yet another legalist that Paul Apostle warned about who fails to understand the NEW covenant and what It teaches about Christ's work. I do not have much time so my answer will be short. #1 ALL things have become NEW. THE LAW is also new and it is the law of the Spirit. Your arguments are good for the old covenant. If you want to celebrate the shabbat on the 7th day, you should do it as described by Moses but then you declare you are still an old creation and a sinner. #2 The stories of old were to point to SPIRITUAL truths. Jesus said HE IS the bread from heaven, the manna. Is this not enough to look at all differently? #3 I am not a dispesationalist. I am convinced by the Word of God and his Spirit that all that the prophets had l foretold was fulfilled. Not waiting for Second Coming, tribulation, etc. Dispensationalism is a misinterpretation of the Bible clearly full preterist teachings. #4 Lord Jesus is not only Lord of shabbat but he is shabbat itself because he made me rest from all my works and gave me spiritual rest and freedom from legalistic demands of Moses which were only for Israel acc to the flesh. Just as I am circumcised in the spirit (tho a female in the flesh) so I celebrate the shabbat, spiritually, by living the word and abiding in it 24/7. Similarly the Kingdom of God is not material but spiritual in nature etc. #5 The law speaks to the sinner. To me, a new Creation, it is a Lesson of the past, a guide TO Christ, no longer needed after I died and rise again in Christ. I was translated from the dark into the light, from slavery of sin to freedom, incl from the curses and blessings of the law, from legal obedience to the leading of the Spirit that uses the lessons of the past written down in the Bible. #6 I've a NEW nature that is free to serve God in its newness and this means being able to eat/drink/do all with thanksgiving and God's blessing, to worship God not in temples but in the spirit, learning from Him without the need to seek gurus and rabbis, and build upon men. #7 Do not try to convince me. Basically, there are three views of the Sabbath. The Seventh-Day Adventists believe that Saturday is the Sabbath today and should be kept by Christians. While they are correct to say that God called the seventh day a “Sabbath” (a day of rest), they are incorrect to say that God wants Christians to observe the Sabbath like the Jews did. Next to them are the majority of Catholic, Orthodox, and Protestant churches, who believe that Sunday is the Sabbath and should be kept by Christians. They are correct to teach that Christians should assemble to worship on Sundays, but incorrect to call Sunday “the Sabbath.” Finally, there is the biblical view which states from the Old Testament that Saturday was the Sabbath, the day of rest, and proclaims from the New Testament that Christians are not obligated to keep it.

Enjoyed this sermon again - love the way Hugh witnesses to atheists and skeptics. And he is so gracious. A trait I am still learning.
It is always useful to review and hone our witnessing. So many that do not understand about biblical creation, including the 'days' of creation. The DETAILS DO make a difference.
===> the comments made that "any day will work" said to be based on Romans 14 still stuck in my craw.
The word sabbath is the word for rest, but scripture makes a clear distinction that there is "The 7th Day Sabbath" (The Sabbath) as contrasted to just resting or being laid to rest, or the sabbaths associated with the festivals described in the ordinances.
It was these ordinances that were 'nailed to the cross', and not the Ten Commandments. To say that "any day will work" attempts to completely redefine The Sabbath day kept and spoken about by all the patriarchs, prophets, apostles, disciples and Jesus himself.
The crux of the biblical Sabbath is about Who we worship and about their Authority of the One Who Created Heaven and Earth.
The bible identifies God as being the One that created all, with the 7th day Sabbath being a memorial of that creation as seen in Genesis, and of being the God of Redemption as seen in Deut. 5.
And worshipping on that day identifies who we are giving our allegiance to.
Interesting to note from history that 'contracts' in that era were often created on clay tablets where the contract was written on a first side and a copy on the second side, the copy was then impressed with the signet imprint/seal (where we get our word signature) in the middle of the second side. It showed the authority of the parties in the contract. It will be noted that a seal contains the name, title and dominion of the ruler or party to the contract. We find in the 4th commandment Gods seal in this same manner, giving name, title and dominion. Showing His authority to make such a law, in this case its even written in STONE by God's own hand showing it can NEVER change.
The bible story from beginning to end is really about who we worship (Jesus) with scripture indicating How God wants us to worship Him.
 Genesis 2:3 "And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made."
CAN we bless a day and MAKE IT HOLY? It should be noted that this Sabbath was given to Adam and Eve, ...and not just to the 'Jews' as some might opin.
So some try to get around the Sabbath commandment by asserting that the commandments were 'done away with'.
But when questioned whether it is OK now to murder, commit adultery, and so forth, almost all would agree that breaking these has always been wrong.
The one they want to FORGET, is the one commandment that God began with the word 'REMEMBER' - God knew that His professed people would forget.
The bible speaks of the 7th day again and again and again. If we love God we will worship Him on the day HE proscribed - not based on what is ‘convenient’ to us.
God set up a date with us on The Sabbath day - 20 years ago when we started honoring that weekly date - God has blessed us immensely.
 The scripture always talks about "THE Sabbath day" when speaking of the weekly Sabbath; - Singular definitive article. Yet there were 'rests' (sabbaths) as part of the feast days under the law of ordinances written by Moses.
 So what was done away with? It was this 'law of ordinances' which was done away with in the new covenant, NOT the 10 commandments ! This is why some are confused with passages such as in Romans 14, if you look carefully it is very plain these are speaking of those ordinances. This was about the handwriting - Moses wrote these ordinances of the sacrificial system which prefigured Christ - a shadow of things to come,
Even looking at the prophecy of the new testament we see -- Jeremia 31:31-34 speaks that a new coventant will be made in in v34 it states that nature of it as “… I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.”
 Did the new testament in the blood of Jesus make it OK now to honor other Gods on the venerable Day of the Sun (Sunday), make idols, blaspheme, dishonor parents, Murder, steal, commit adultery, lie, or covet? Certainly NOT.
The new testament has many dozens of verses holding up the ten commandments - Jesus even amplified them on the sermon on the mount
Matthew 5:27-28 “27 Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery:
28 But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.”
Jesus AMPLIFIED the law! He certainly did NOT Do away with it.
==> Speaking of the 10 Commandments -- Matthew 5:18 “For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.” The word full-filled literally means “Filled to the Full”.
And most Christians are OK with hearing how we should remember 9 of those 10 commandments, BUT when one starts talking about honoring the 4th commandment - they start talking about legalism. Is it legalistic for me to always be faithful to my wife, or always put God first. Of course not - but all of a sudden we change our context in order to rationalize 'forgetting" the 4th commandment. Ironic because the 4th commandment begins with the word “REMEMBER” - because God knew His people would forget it.
 Were Jesus and all His disciples legalists? They ALL kept the sabbath day. It is clear throughout the New Testament. Anyone with even a scant knowledge of church history knows that it was the Roman Church in the 4th century that changed their day of worship. Daniel 7:25 refers to this power as changing "times and laws" - and not from what scripture said - but from a sense of their own power - with the 4th commandment being the only of God's laws which also deal with time. That power itself sometimes referred to this change as 'the mark of her ecclessiastical authority'.
And that power asserts that there is no support for this change from scripture, and they could only do it as they have the authority to change God's laws. It is their 'Mark' .
THIS IS NOT MINOR issue -- Just as Adam and Eve had the trial at the “Tree of the knowledge of Good and Evil”, each age has had its trials. In biblical prophecy we are rapidly coming to another such issue - each will either get the seal of God, or the Mark of the Beast. Revelation 14 speaks of those getting the mark of the beast. Its not a bar code, or chip, its about worship of course - just like with Cain and Abel. Jesus said John 14:15 “If ye love me, keep my commandments.” Did He mean for us to keep the ones ‘we’ thought are important.
Everyone gets a Mark/Seal - either by God or by a counterfeit power. Note that the 144,000 and the Saints of God are said to ==> Keep the commandments of God.
The last issue in scripture mirrors the first - its about how we worship. One either gets the seal of God, or the Mark of the beast power - the beast being a power which counterfeits the soverignty of Christ in a large ecumenical movement to gather everyone together in a compromised faith. There is over 50 identifying marks of this beast in scripture - so there is no mistake - this is not new as every protestant reformer agreed. Today that is not politically correct - but are we to be BC (Biblically Correct) following the Word of God or PC (Politically Correct) .
 By the way Sabbath was kept from creation, through the patriarchs, through Jesus and the disciples, and even in heaven as seen in Isaiah 66:23.
The books of the New Testament were largely written decades after the death of Jesus - and there is NO change there about the Sabbath.
We chose to follow Jesus and His example, and there have been abundant blessings from that. The whole of prophecy was opened up to us.
Its not my intent to seem unkind - but the kindest thing I could do is to help others to realize the importance of this great truth & blessing about The Sabbath.
Blessing to all in digging into God's word and its wonderful pearls of truth.
    RH

      @@mariajnojules231 Hi Maria
      (0) Are they the 10 "commandments" of the 10 "suggestions"?
Is it ok for a so-called New Testament Christian to murder, commit adultery, blaspheme, worship idols ? Of course not.
So the only one you want to get rid of the 4th commandment - the one that starts with the word "REMEMBER".
And there are 55 verses mentioning the Sabbath in the N.T. - here are but a few.
Jesus said in John 14:15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.
1 John 2:4 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
1 John 2:3 And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.
Jesus said - Matthew 5:18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.
      Matt 5:19
      John 15:10;
      1 John 3:22
      1 John 5:2-3
      Rev. 12:17
      REv. 14:12
Jesus and ALL the apostles and disciples kept the Sabbath day as seen throughout the new testament. As well as all the patriarchs before them.
And its an eternal statute instituted at creation not to the Jews only but to our first parents.
      (1) Show me in scripture where Jesus Changed the Sabbath day before His death. Right there isn't one...
And the Bible makes it clear...
      Hebrews 9:16-17
16 For where a testament is, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator.
17 For a testament is of force after men are dead: otherwise it is of no strength at all while the testator liveth.
That a testament cannot be changed AFTER the testator dies.
The so called 7th day sabbath was not even coming into use until the 2nd century AD, and not forced until 321 AD.
      (2) Galatians 4 you did not mention what verse. Perhaps...
Galatians 4:10 "Ye observe days, and months, and times, and years."
This is speaking about the times the festivals and various holy days were based upon.
      (3) If your state was going to change which side of the road you drive on - would they merely put a little 1" add in the newspaper?
Of course not - so here you are taking one scripture, twisting it an trying to counter all the many dozens of New testaments that speak about keeping the Sabbath day !
Remember different parts of the new testament were being created up until 90 AD. AND THERE IS NO mention of a change to THE Sabbath day. Only the elimination of the sabbaths associated with the festivals and such.
      (4) Even the Catholic church itself - which 'thought to change times and laws' Dan. 7:25. Says in it catechims that THEY instituted Sunday sacredness and NOT from ANYTHING said in the Bible.
...but we humans are creatures of habit - we prefer comfortable traditions over actually following what Jesus said.
There are great blessings to meet with Jesus on THE DAY that He hallowed.
May you get the full blessing that Jesus wants for use all.

Also, the Sabbath is a day blessed by God, and we receive a blessing by keeping it. Funny how the very command to rest is considered by the world to be works!

When Jesus said he was Lord of the Sabbath he was declaring he was master of the Sabbath and when you look up master it means teacher of the Sabbath, now Jesus was called teacher and he taught in the synagogue on Sabbath day teaching to do well on the Sabbath as well as stating he didn’t come to destroy the law. If as Hugh said, that we are still in the seventh Day, that means we are living in the Sabbath Day. This makes a lot of sense to me because I've questioned the meaning of keeping Holy the Sabbath Day on Saturday. It actually implies that you don't have to keep Holy six other days! That doesn't make sense to me, so I think Hugh's interpretation might make more sense. Lots of Scripture has duplicitous meaning. God I'm sure wants us to keep Holy every day, and if we are still in the seventh Day that makes perfect sense. Paul stated that we shouldn't argue about which days to celebrate the Sabbath. Jesus reprimanded the Pharisees over there claims about the disciples breaking the Sabbath. Also it is impossible to know what day is actually the seventh Day anymore with calendars changed so many times. That's a fact.

Luke 4:16 King James Version (KJV)

Roman took the teaching o Jesus when Constantine became Caesar. Constantine is pagan. He is Sun-Worshiper. It must also be remembered that prior to Constantine early Christians co-opted aspects of Sun worship. Clement of Alexandria portrays Christ, like the Sun-god, racing his chariot across the sky. Many pagans accused the Christians of Sun worship because they met on Sunday mornings - the early Christians did this to celebrate "the Lord's Day" as opposed to the Jewish Sabbath. Early in the fourth century the birthday of the Sun-god was co-opted as the day to celebrate the nativity of Jesus - there is no clear record of who started this tradition.

▸ Keeping the sabbath was part of the law that Christ took away. “He . . . canceled out the certificate of death consisting of decrees against us . . .; and He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross. Therefore no one is to act as your judge in regard to food or drink or in respect to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath day-things which are a mere shadow of what is to come; but the substance belongs to Christ” (Colossians 2:14-17). Christians are no more obligated to keep the sabbath than the other Old Testament festivals or its food and drink regulations! In fact, we are warned against going back to the Law to justify our practices. To do so severs us from Christ (Galatians 5:1-4).
▸ Death was the God-given penalty for not keeping the sabbath. “Therefore you are to observe the sabbath, for it is holy to you. Everyone who profanes it shall surely be put to death; for whoever does any work on it, that person shall be cut off from among his people. For six days work may be done, but on the seventh day there is a sabbath of complete rest, holy to the Lord; whoever does any work on the sabbath day shall surely be put to death” (Exodus 31:14-15). If, as some suggest, we should still keep the sabbath because of what is said in these Old Testament references, should we enforce the penalty that these same references require?
Let us be content to leave the Sabbath where God put it, part of His ancient covenant with the nation of Israel, a covenant that has been replaced by the gospel of Christ.

Does Genesis 2:2,3 show that God has wanted men of all ages, even from the creation, to keep the Sabbath as a holy day?
These verses say, “And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made. And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it; because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.” Please notice that in these two verses the Bible speaks about GOD, and about what GOD did. These verses do not mention mankind, they do not mention any command that God gave to man, and they do not mention man keeping the Sabbath. There is simply no proof in these verses in Genesis two that God wanted all men of all ages to keep the Sabbath.

At 16:mins to 18 mins, I noticed a couple of errors in Dr Hugh Ross' logic. He contradicts an earlier statement which said that Genesis 1:1 is focusing on the Universe, then Genesis 1:2 switches the focus to the creation on this earth and its atmosphere, but he states that he studies things that were made in the "6 days", where in fact he studies things made before the 6 days (the universe). The second error is the assumption of the fossil record showing long periods of time, when in fact, if you were to have a world wide flood, you would expect millions of fossils laid down in layers all over the earth. What do we find?...millions of fossils laid down in layers all over the earth. Creation in 6 literal 24 hour days followed by catastrophism (the worldwide flood and Noah's Ark) explain continental drift, the ice age, fossil records, large coal, oil and gas fields, as well as other phenomena discovered by true science.

@@michaelrmarak5597 THE LAW OF MOSES IS IN OBSOLESCENCE - Paul states that Christ is the end of the Law (for righteousness) in Romans 10:4. Galatians 3 shows that the law came 430 years after, and it was added to Abrahamic Covenant of circumcision. The law was given until the ‘seed should come.’ Christ, the seed has come. Hebrews teaches that the Mosaic Law provides the basis for the Levitical priesthood, but for the new priesthood to take place, the order of Melchizedek, a change of the law is required (Hebrews 7:18-22). Again, we learn this from Paul in 2 Corinthians 3:4-11. In this passage, Paul specifically refers to the Decalogue by saying the commandments written in stone have come to an end (v. 11).

The scriptures show in no uncertain terms that the sabbath is not binding on Christians, as a matter of fact, to hold on to the sabbath is to deny Christ.
    (1) The sabbath was given specifically to the Israelites, it formed part of the covenant they made with God. Exodus 31:16,17 says "The Israelites must keep the Sabbath; they must observe the Sabbath during all their generations. It is a lasting covenant. It is an enduring sign between me and the people of Israel, for in six days Jehovah made the heavens and the earth and on the seventh day he rested and refreshed himself.’”
    (2) The purpose of the law was to show them up as sinners in need of a savior, thus pointing them to Christ. As Galatians 3:19 shows when it says "Why, then, the Law? It was added to make transgressions manifest, until the offspring should arrive", that "offspring" being Jesus Christ.
    (3) The law covenant that was given to the Israelites would come to an end, as shown by these scriptures: Romans 7:6, 7; 2 Cor. 3:7-11
Also, verses 24 and 25 of the same book of Galatians chapter 3 go on to say "So the Law became our guardian leading to Christ, so that we might be declared righteous through faith. But now that the faith has arrived, we are no longer under a guardian." So in other words the law was merely a babysitter whereas Jesus is the parent. When the parent gets home the babysitter relinquishes or hands over the child to the rightful owner, the parent.
So if someone holds on to the sabbath which was part of the law that was meant to lead persons to Christ then they are in effect denying Christ his rightful place as their owner.
Rom. 10:4: says “Christ is the end of the Law, so that everyone exercising faith may have righteousness.” (Sabbath keeping was a part of that Law. God used Christ to bring that Law to its end. Our having a righteous standing with God depends on faith in and obedience to Christ, not on keeping a weekly sabbath.). (Also Galatians 4:9-11; and Ephesians 2:13-16)
In addition, Col. 2:13,14: says that “He kindly forgave us all our trespasses 14 and erased the handwritten document (the mosaic law) that consisted of decrees and was in opposition to us. He has taken it out of the way by nailing it to the torture stake. And verse 16 goes on to say "Therefore, do not let anyone judge you about what you eat and drink or about the observance of a festival or of the new moon or of a sabbath."
Should we believe and hold on to what Hugh Ross or anyone else says when it contradicts what God's word the Bible says?
Romans 3:4 answers when it says, "But let God be found true, even if every man be found a liar."

    • @kac0404
      @kac0404 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Sabbath is mentioned 59 times in the New Testament, and, therefore, must be binding.
As a matter of fact, the Temple is mentioned 115 times, yet we are not obligated to go to the temple for worship today, while there was such a command in the Old Testament. "The people of the land shall also worship at the doorway of that gate before the LORD on the Sabbaths and on the new moons" (Ezekiel 46:3).
Circumcision is mentioned 55 times in the New Testament, yet is not bound. In Acts 15, the Jerusalem conference dealt with the problem of Jewish converts seeking to bind circumcision on the Gentile converts. Peter, who was the first of the apostles to go to the Gentiles (cf. Cornelius in Acts 10), stood up and testified, "Now therefore why do you put God to the test by placing upon the neck of the disciples a yoke which neither our fathers nor we have been able to bear?" (Acts 15:10). The "yoke" referred to the Law of Moses in general, and circumcision in particular. Yet we know that in the Old Testament circumcision was God's law for the Jews. "He that is born in thy house, and he that is bought with thy money, must needs be circumcised: and my covenant shall be in your flesh for an everlasting covenant" (Genesis 17:13). Note that circumcision was a "must," and that it was an "everlasting covenant." But we note that this "everlasting covenant" was with Israel, and as noted before, was to continue "throughout their generations," so long as the nation existed.
If the necessity of circumcision, which was an everlasting covenant, is no longer bound, then the Sabbath, which was an everlasting covenant was also subject to coming to an end. If not, why not?
In addition, Passover is mentioned 28 times in the New Testament, yet we are not told to observe the Passover Feast. In fact, we have a new Passover-Christ. "Clean out the old leaven so that you may be a new lump, just as you are in fact unleavened. For Christ our Passover also has been sacrificed" (I Corinthians 5:7).

That is totally messed up. You could have assumed that there was no need to say the evening and morning on the seventh day because that part of the story was finished and they went on to another part of the story.

Are you in Israel? Gotta get ready for literal blood to be shed if you're seriously taking Israel's standard to be regarded for everyone, considering they killed and stoned for sins. See, a lot of us worship 7 days out of a week, so we don't see the necessity for it to be only Saturday such as perhaps you, maybe that's when you personally sit down and think holy, but on that note, you also can't use any electricity in your house, you can not go get food, you can not do absolutely anything that involves technology because you're making somebody else work, which you know is against the Sabbath. So, next Saturday, cut the breaker on your house, and light some candles.

He says to remember the sabbath as it was a sign of the covenant made with Moses to commemorate leaving Egypt. Their is no record of the sabbath ever being kept by anyone other than those who left Egypt in the exodus. They were commanded to keep it, their descendants were also, and so was everyone who " joins himself to the Lord " after that. My point is that it is a specific day. Jesus kept it. The apostles kept it, and the early church kept it.
So your point is what ? That noone kept the Sabbath before God commanded it ? Well DUH!!
People find any excuse they can to twist God's word in order to disobey Him.
" Why do you call me 'Lord' and not do the things that I say ? Not everyone who calls me Lord will enter the Kingdom of Heaven, but only those who do the will of my father in heaven."
Disobey God at your own risk.
I've done my duty in informing you of the truth, you can listen and learn, or you can make excuses . It's your choice.
By the way, the weekly sabbath is not only to commemorate leaving Egypt, it is also to commemorate creation week, or rather, to honor the God of creation. You're not looking at everything that is said. In the actual commandment, it says " for in six days , Yahuah created the heavens and the earth and rested on the seventh. "

Sometimes this day, other times that day? We should disregard what God clearly said and just do what we want based on cryptic passages from Paul? The same Paul whom Peter said was hard to understand. If you read the Old Testament (Kings, I think) where the 8-year-old kid was going to be made king after his grandmother had killed all his siblings so she could be the queen you will find there is mention of the guards on duty at the temple on Sabbath. Jesus also mentioned that the priests did certain things on the Sabbath, like circumcision. Some things just have to be done.
I was on call for more than eight years for three out of four Sabbaths a month. It was mostly nose-bleeds and foreign bodies in the oesophagus. If they called me, I had to go. Such is life. God knows that.

The principle is that the Sabbath is allowed to be broken to save lives. Therefore doctors and nurses, emergency workers etc. are able to do GOOD and heal on the Sabbath, just as Jesus did. Life is the first principle. I agree the Sabbath is the Seventh Day. Simply no biblical way around it.

*My understanding is that "which day" we observe as sabbath / worship does not need to be a stumbling block. Christian prophet (from India) Sadhu Sundar Selvaraj was for a time a Seventh Day Adventist. He speaks quietly of leaving that walk because of its false teachings. Apparently YHWH's reason for instituting the shabbat / sabbath was so that we would "take a break from thinking about ourselves" and think about Him. It is helpful to understand this. I do recommend that you seek out Sadhu Sundar Selvaraj. His content is singular. It will stretch you. If you have kept YHWH in a "little-bitty box," you may strongly resist it. LIke Dr. Ross's teaching, Sadhu's content is most helpful. Particularly in these last days.*

    • @grasonicus

Nobody's understanding is needed. The Bible is very clear, the seventh day is the Sabbath. www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Exodus+20%3A8-10&version=NIV No exegesis is needed - there it is, black on white. Jesus, all his apostles and the church in the New Testament kept the Sabbath. Not one of the eight mentions of the first day in the New Testament says the Sabbath changed from the seventh to the first day. Obscure and unclear quotes from Paul's writing also won't do it - Paul wrote to specific churches with specific problems and he didn't spell out the background of his letters as the recipients knew what he meant. Obviously, we don't and trinitarians and Sunday holy people then get the context wrong. We should disregard what can be interpreted in more ways than one and what is unclear. Choosing the way of interpreting that you favour and disregarding other valid interpretations is bad reasoning. Even Peter said Paul is hard to understand. And that was from someone knowing the background.
What you are doing is substituting the teachings of men for the commandments of God. biblehub.com/mark/7-7.htm
You also fall for the old sucker bait - tell the suckers what they want to hear and they will believe you. Every con artist and politician knows that. You believe what you want to believe and disregard the clear commandments in the Bible. No words can change that.

I adnire Hugh Ross' scholarship but he is wrong on 'God’s Sabbath'. Genesis 2 says God rested meaning the Sabbath ended. The Jews kept the Sabbath literally because they folliwed the example and command of God to do so weekly from sunset to sunset. Its simply stated in Exodus 20. I do agree that if the Sabbath were kept globally as the Jews did for millenia it would combat the atheism we see so often today.

Jesus compared the Sabbath to sacrificial laws(Matthew 12: 1-5)
Jesus compared the Sabbath to circumcision (John 7:22)
The requirement to work on certain days and avoid work on other days was a ritual law. It was an important part of the covenant God gave Israel but it was not given to other nations.
Jews in the first century understood that God did not require Gentiles to keep the Sabbath. When barriers between Jews and Gentiles were eliminated through Jesus' death on the cross (Ephesians 2:13-16), the Sabbath was one of the barrier ordinances eliminated. It was a ritual law, not a timeless and eternal moral law.

Keeping the sabbath is one of the Ten Commandments. The Bible does not make a distinction between moral and ceremonial law. Jesus said the father and I are one and that Jesus did not come to abolish the law but to fulfill it. God said the law (Torah) is perfect and must be kept throughout the generations. God said the law was for all his children, not just the hHebrews. If you worship the God of Abraham, Issach and Jacob then you are one of Gods children. Jesus kept the Sabbath and so did the Apostles even after the resurrection! Saying that we do not have to keep the commandments is calling God a lyer. We can’t pick and choose which commandments to keep and which ones not to keep. You can’t be lukewarm in your faith or God says he will spit you out! Rome changed the Sabbath from Saturday to Sunday to honor their pagan god. Now we worship on Sunday and go out to eat after church and the mow our lawn. This is not keeping the Sabbath!!

Wait, wait, wait,. Observe the Lord's Sabbath any day? That's not what the commandment say:
Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: But the SEVENTH DAY is the SABBATH of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:

Note this came out of God's mouth:
And God spake all these words, saying,

So why is people teaching it's any day? Isn't that contrary to what God commanded? YES it is. This is why:

Its like God wasted His time on instructing exact instructions just for people to still do it their own way. I mean its not called God's laws and commandments for the heck of it. This is exactly why Jesus mentioned this:

      And:
Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

The Sabbath is not a law instituted at creation but under the Mosaic Covenant - Some say that the Sabbath is a command of God given in Genesis. To interpret Genesis 2:1-3 as a law given to humanity is in error. Though sin abounded, God gave no law until Moses. Paul states in Romans 5:13-14 that there was no law given from the time of Adam until the time of Moses. Furthermore, from Adam to Moses, there is no record in Scriptures of anyone keeping the Sabbath (especially during the period of Egyptian slavery captivity). In Genesis 2, it is called the seventh day and not the Sabbath. It is a description of what God did, not what God requires of man. To interpret Genesis 2:1-3 as a law also requires to create light on Sundays and animals on Friday. From the plain reading of the text, there is no reason to conclude that God intends to view every seventh day to be holy. Rather, it is quite possible to interpret that God declares that particular day, the actual seventh day, as holy. Interpretations which add (such as saying that God rested on the seventh day to establish the Sabbath) an underlying reason why God declares the day holy, is adding to the text.

@@nigelkissoon891 The Sabbath is a religious observance for the benefit of man and not a reflection of the moral holiness of God - This principle is the reason Jesus could say to the Pharisees, “The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath” (Mark 2:27). God’s righteousness is reflected by a man when a man keeps the law. In the parallel account of this event in Matthew 12:1-8, Jesus indicates that it is lawful for the priests to labor on the Sabbath. If the Sabbath observance reflects the holiness of God, then it is wrong to allow God’s holiness to be thwarted in the observance of religion. In other words, if not keeping the Sabbath is a direct attack against the holiness of God, then why would God allow unholy men to be guiltless in their temple practices of working on the Sabbath?
