I think earnings does affect rank but it matters a lot less when you target niches. It seems like it matters more for industry terms like "Copywriter" and "Web Designer." Upwork likes moneymakers.

Thanks Mohannad! Advanced Upwork Profiles is still a good course. The information applies to modern profiles, although Upwork's profile layout has changed. The new course builds upon the current course, but I'm not sure when I will release it on Udemy.
Hi, thank you so much for such valuable tips. I am an illustrator an top cert5 at PPH. But on Upwork, i am struggling from 1 year. 4 jobs completed. The problem I am facing is my profile doesn't appear in search. Even not in Google. It was created in 2009 during my graduation.
I would like to set my profile as "unavailable till some date". You mentioned in of your videos that it should trigger upwork ranking algorithm as soon as the waiting period is finished. That should lead to more invitations. I remember that the period should be reasonably long. Could you kindly suggest the minimum waiting period? Should I change my profile visibility from "public" to "private" during that period?
Said this in the discord, I did all three of these to the best of my ability and my profile still isn't showing up in searches. Did I do something wrong? Is my profile blacklisted or something and I don't know about it? I know Upwork has been known to blacklist freelancers for no real reason.
It's always up to you. You can offer however many skills you want, but clients who are willing to spend amounts that make freelancing worth it don't hire jack-of-all-trades. They hire specialists in specific areas. They don't want a web designer copywriter article writer transcriptionist. They want a legal site web designer or a direct response copywriter or a Spanish translator. They don't want all three. They only want what they want and they don't care at all about what you want.
After reviewing my position on Upwork (yesterday was number 1 for my key term) I am going to look further into this. It does appear that something has changed since I was in the top position for my main search term yesterday, and now I'm in roughly the #4 position within the US and the #2 position worldwide. That doesn't make sense unless maybe Upwork has a system for switching up who is at the top from time to time. I'll dig further into this and see what I come up with. Thanks for sharing. Hope my initial comment didn't come across as too confrontational. It's not personal. Just my personality. Yesterday I got invited to a gig by an Upwork talent specialist. In my reply to the client, I mentioned being in the #1 spot. I wonder if Upwork saw that and didn't like it.
