    12:35 Wrap Up
Back in 1992, Tom was given a Pica Duellist MKII 240 that a friend of his built from the plans that were drawn by Dave Platt. Tom flew that airplane a lot, but he crashed it after changing the receiver. The ailerons were reversed and since he didn’t do a preflight check, he didn’t notice it before take-off. After the crash, he kept all the salvageable pieces in a small container in his building area affectionately known as the Duellist bucket.
After nearly 30 years, and thanks to the discussions on the RC Plane Lab podcast, Tom finally decided to build another Duellist and use whatever pieces he could from the original. Always up for a challenge, Ron decided to build one too, but to put his spin on it making it an electric taildragger.
The build log for both of these airplanes is at rcplanelab.com/duellist-build...
This is the video of the maiden flights.

I have to say that I really like the color scheme on Tom's plan so much more then Ron's. That is where it ends. I think Ron's plan is superior in every other way; it is quiet, sleek, quiet, cute cockpit crew, quiet, low profile, and did I mention its quiet. The only thing missing here is that you should have dueled with the Duellist. Side by side, maybe a game of horse should have been done. LOL Great job you guys.

Flew the Duelist back in the early 1980 with my kit built, heathkit transmitter, receiver & servos. Powers was two Super Tiger Schnuerle 40's. Very fast. I would put 2 oz of fuel in one tank and fly most of the flight on one engine for practice.

Nice! Glad to see the builds. I prefer the glow engines over the electric, but both were nice. Great flying field also.

Awesome video footage guys. I'm guessing that the changes in camera perspective happened in post production/editing?
