Congrats on having a maiden done to solidify that everything works. A lot of good info given by Ali.
Great job you two!!
Nice. thank you! Now, when I get back up in the air, I can be pretty sure I'm not smoking my motor.
So peaceful. No whining motors. Just learning to fly, but I’m taken by the gliders. Managed to find a hobie hawk, and an un assembled Bird of Time. Flying an aero scout and a radian for now.
You guys are awesome. 😂
how the me-163 worked in ww2.
I'm glad I found this, I have the same engine. I wanted to take the throttle arm off so I set about undoing that mixture screw. I wouldn't feel quite so stupid if it was the first time I'd done it but, no, I did it a few years ago to a Saito (I'm pretty sure it was a Saito). Back then I was the club beginner and other, wiser heads stepped in to fix it. Not so now, I have to work this out myself so, as I say, I'm glad I found this, thanks for posting it.
😂 accidentally! 👍🏻 Ron!
Great vid. But what’s up with the lawn mower ? 😂 look behind him.
I had one of these -- Hirtenberger Patronen .61. HP was an Austrian munitions (Patronen) manufacturer.
I rebuilt a trash can airplane a while back. Learned it was a four star forty from Sig. Flew awesome! Built and flown several others since then
They have the pieces right there but decide not to demonstrate anything...
in my experience with thermal soaring I learned that those built-up planes don't penetrate as they need to to get around the sky and take advantage of thermals. At the same time, an electric winch gets you MUCH higher, where thermal lift seemed easier to find. After switching to composite type planes and an electric winch I soon found getting the plane down from spec-out height was more of a challenge than finding good lift to begin with. The first several times I got my plane up that high was a strange experience. There were times where the plane would be climbing so quickly I'd almost panic about losing it...I learned how to reflex the ailerons to pick up speed to get the heck out of those 'boomers'...The plane would sound like a jet from the speed it would hit when that happened. I miss flying those. Just when I was beginning to learn this stuff the club I belonged to lost it's field.
Very cool! After hearing “hundreds” of your podcasts this is my first video. I hope everything goes well and not more unnecessary expenses come on. Best regards from southern Germany, Bavaria
0:34 you must be quite strong 😅
Great job guys! it looks set up nicely! hope to see the maiden soon!
Next video please do a "how to start a turbine". That would be neat for people who have never seen or understand what they just watched
Next year....
The sound of a turbine spooling up never gets old , I’m glad you got the fuel issue sorted, looking forward to seeing it fly, Thanks for sharing, Regards Alvin.
I FLEW TELEMASTERS IN RC AIRSHOWS,, SOME REAL IMPORTANT THINGS I WISH TO SHARE, FIRST PUT RIDGED STRUTS for the wings, SECOND DONT OVER POWER IT, A OS MAX 60 IS PERFECT BALANCE AND THE PERFORMANCE INCREASES, AS IT IS NOT LIKE A STRING FOLLOWING A ROCK. I REALLY MISS THESE AND IT WAS MY FAVORITE TO FLY.. NEVER BE IN A TRASH CAN AROUND ME FOR CERTAIN IT WOULD BE REBUILT IN THE SAME WEEK I FOUND IT, even if i cant afford the radio and motor any longer
Did I watch you prime it counter clockwise? Then start it clockwise?
What is the barb on the bottom far?
That wasn,t an engine problem, ............ It was an , "Assembly problem " !!!!!!! . Nice try
Nice. Nothin' like the sound of a little OS 4 stroke! That thing runs like a sewing machine.
Thanks!🙂
Half job done. Hubs need balancing.
Yes and for larger props that causes you to use some different type of setups with this Dubro. My prop will not stand vertical, going to try and balance from the side of a table maybe I dont know.
Which fuel do you use?
Is the Tri motor still going ahead? I’m listening to the old episodes and getting excited to see it started!
Just discovered you guys, I'll track down the podcast. Similarly I attempted to quick charge a nimh pack on my TX which while flying my ST ARF back in 2010 the pack went prematurely "flat" and I stuffed into the ice on a lake near Madison WI. Still bothersome. Anyway its beautifully restored, lots o pics on RCG. That control hardware was a joke. Electrified I was able to drop roughly 2 pounds. If "nothing but nothing " as they say flies like the ST....electrified and very light its extraordinary fun. Loved the car crash! Merry Christmas 2023
Awesome guys
That’s a Dynaflite Daydream glider not a sig riser just fyi
Interesting. Can you explain something to me? I am coming from a motor cycle engine background and I am wondering how well the bottom end is lubricated in these four stroke engines - the crank and the camshaft and followers, and how are the rockers and valve stems lubricated please? Is the oil passed down by 'blow by' enough, and if so, is there a possibility that too much oil can build in the crank case? What proportion of oil is included in the fuel? Thanks if you get time to address this issue.
Nice!!!! Thank you
You should have set up your large desk then brought your high-end in it's about 80% right now
Free advice, always use after run oil with 4 strokes
Awesome!!! Love it. Bigger props will hurt you!!!
Sound of is amazing!!
what fuel did you use there?
Interesting when you give it a gas we can see the fuel tank almost blowing out that's nice! please do you have any idea how can I figure out witch tubing size for each engine? tks
The first words out of the wife's mouth was "They're cheating." I have no idea how many times we've launched on a hi-start, but it would be well in excess of a thousand I'm sure. Funny though, I've never done a winch launch. Back then we had kids to chase the hi-start most of the time. This brought back so many great memories. Thanks for the video y'all.
Love your pod cast have listed to them all
Four-stroke glow engine nitro is only an additive.
It needed a lot of right rudder trim, and the elevator was pitchy. Still sorting it out, but it is a lot better now!😄
This was very useful. Thanks a lot from Norway!
Being a 4 stroke do they run on the fuel we put in our cars. Cars as in the ones we drive to the grocery store.
Hello Tom, I started getting into RC flying and listening to your Podcast. Question I have, can these hinges replace the taped hinges on my controlled surfaces such as the ailerons and rudders?
Once you have made the "static" adjustments onthe ground, then does the throttle movement always generate monotonic increase in speed? For an example of monotonic increase, moving the throttle clockwise ALWAYS increases cyclic velocity (Hz). Another example of monotonic increase, moving the throttle counter-clockwise ALWAYS increases cyclic velocity (Hz). A non monotonic adjustment will increase and then decrease the controlled variable. I am interested in making a PLL motorcontroller. I am an EE not ME, so my vocabulary might appear strangely.
Thanks so much Tom, this is a huge help!
Excellent Flying and dead stick landing. 6/22/2023yr.
Excellent Flying 6/22/2023yr.
Tom, my engine is pretty gummed after sitting for years. I'm building a test stand to get this same engine running again. If I were to take things apart to clean it up, what is a good starting point for the high and low speed needles? (How many turns from fully closed?) I assume that's the way to get started.
1.5 open on high, the low should be flush with the throttle arm body
