Little trick with the cup holders mate 😄. Use the bottle opener to hold the drink near the armrest and then close the cover to hold the other one in tight 👌🏼
Hello! The one you call central storage space is actually the place for the ashtray. Mine has it there. That explains the size and the 12v socket. The space underneath the armrest in mine is a large single space. Don't know if it is year, country or equipment dependent. As for the boot, considering the fact that it is a 3 door coupe-ish we shall be thankful for what it is.
Most of the passenger side space is taken up by the handbrake though. The deep narrow slot is perfect for your phone, but granted, the bit next to it above the handbrake is very small - I keep spare contacts and Rennies in mine 😂, but not everyone's short-sighted with frequent heartburn like I am.
Just settled on buying a stage 2 tuned Fiesta ST over a Scirocco R. So I need this kinda negativity in my life to help me feel like I chose correctly haha
That does look nice in the metallic Indium Grey colour. I have a manual Urano Grey R, and while I do like it in certain lights, I wish it was this colour sometimes. Also, super low milage on your car there! Btw, I does have a digital speedo - you can see it in the video - it's just it's in km/h (apparently it can be coded to mph if you change the car's region to a km/h country). And that hole under the arm rest is actually supposed to be for a phone. I use a super short USB lead because the port is right next to it. With Android Auto, I don't need the phone when I'm driving. Lastly, when I bought mine, it came with a 3D printed cup holder insert. It seems bigger than the OEM bottle opener.
On the strength of this though? Shame - it's a great car, and these are minor drawbacks. No car's perfect. Pretty much any car you can buy you could probably find 5 things to complain about - there's just so much to get right and a lot of it's subjective (I actually really like the arm rest).
@@WildWill176 that’s not that bad really its sounds about the same as my old man’s q3 and that’s only got 190bhp it is Quattro I realise that eats a bit more fuel
I have a 2017 S-R. You are a nice guy, but lack the 'wholistic' view points of the scirocco. Please go through the rest of your life with a 'Wholistic prespective 'and not a Reductionist eye in what ever you review!! best of luck, but thanks for your view. I mean this in the nicest way bro. Not being negative.
Love my R, but not specced out much. No pan roof, wingbacks, dynaudio, cruise control or stop-start, but I did find out it had heated seats more than a month after I had it! (But I don't know if that's standard with the R (or even a usual standard on any car with leather seats). On not having the pan roof, I'm thinking of getting the roof wrapped black (lol fake pan roof), but not sure if it would look good or not.
Look online someone might have 3D printed a cup holder, there are a load for my Caddy. The load lip try making a ramp out of wood, im no carpenter but it might not be too hard to do. You can carpet it so it doesn't look as rubbish. Personally i love the car but ive got kids so that boot is no good for me😂
you can get a digital speedo. I got my 2010 rocco to have one. you have to do it through a carista adaptor. there's loads of yt vids showing how to do this
My 2016 R-Line Scirocco has a digital speedo, might be worth trying with Carista or something because it's definitely possible and is genuinely so useful to have
Hey dude, nice video. Is this worth getting for a 1st car? Well second technically, I had a mark 4 for a few months but it broke. I heard the visibility is pretty bad on this car for looking out the back? What are your thoughts? And is the scirocco fairly good for fuel consumption? Thanks mate
I would recommend this car highly, it's consumption obviously depends how you drive it but if you drive sensibly you can get about 40mpg I'd say daily where I drive 30mins to work and vary between doing 20mph and let's say 70mph on a dual carrige way I get about 25-30mpg. The rear view mirror take a bit of time to get used to. It's a smaller view out of the back but isnt too drastic. Would definitely recommend you test drive if your thinking about one :)
Hi, saw this comment and decided to help a bit. I've had the 1.4tsi petrol version with 160hp and a manual transmission. On the highway when I'm going 120km/h without the AC it uses 6.5 litres/100km. With the AC on and going 130km/h it uses 7.5l/100km. In the city center when you are really in rush hour and you mainly use the first two gears and sometimes the third gear it uses around 11 litres/100km. So, I wouldn't really buy it if you do a lot of city driving and finances are an issue. It is really fun to drive and I'm gonna try to keep it for as long as I can. It might event stay with me forever as my weekend car.
There is a digital speedo You need to go in your MDF date there is digit. Speed you need to tick it to activate it and the middle bit is for the vw hard drive for music and the little bit is for cards or your headphone i might use it the same 😁 and i agree your drink holder is no good mine is 2011 model and had 2 can holders as well as a skinny can holder hope this helps. 👍
Yeh don't know why but I just don't have the MDF option, have googled it but still can't fix it, I agree no idea what they were thinking about the cupholder
yo, you can code the digi speedo with Carista BTW, im gunna do a video on it soon :)
Please do all the videos I've seen haven't worked for me 😅
I got it sorted by changing the car to Australian. Weird that I had to do it but it works
@@chwenlock yep! That’s it! It’s a little slow but good to have hey
+1, Carista has improved a bit over the past 2 years
You don’t buy a scirocco for storage.
True
no but it could be nice with a bit more
There is a bit of room under the bonnet, I'd recommend storing anything flammable and valuable.@@DaveWshh
😂 it is a bad ideia to buy a scirocco if i have kids?

I think some idiots that criticise this vehicle actually think it's something else... like a larger saloon. Pro Tip: Buy a Passat.

You sir are a genius
Weird it doesn't have a digital speedo as my 2011 Scirocco TSI has one
Crazy how it’s doesn’t have a digital speedometer, even my 2012 scirocco does
I know it's so odd I have looked everywhere and it just isn't there
I believe it can be activated using OBD11.
More scirocco vids please, thinking of getting one but not there are not many up to date videos out there. Subscribed, keep up the good vids!
More coming soon...ish got another install video then 5 things I love should be next :)
The gap at the center storage is for inserting hands. They are car’s handles.
Soo mine is 2012.. mine has digital…. In the steering wheel there’s 2 squares .. you press it till it’s on the speedometer???
Yeh just isn't on mine, I even tried using Carista but just wasn't there
2:19 try turning off the second speed (the km/h) then you will have the digtal speedometer
I tried couldn't find an option to turn off
@@chwenlock Go to settings then to the screen to select the mfd data and turn off digital speed i think

Beautiful car! Bought it a few months ago and I FLIPPIN LOVE IT!
The only hatch I’d ever buy and unfortunately we haven’t got them in the states
It's probably because it's not really a hatch and actually a coupe (in reality it's somewhere in the middle).
Nice car! I've got a white GTS petrol & I agree with your points. One thing I dislike is the HUGE wheel arch gap, looks awful with my 18 inch alloys 😂
Yeh I agree, I have 19's and it's still massive. I have some lowering springs just need to install 😅

Yeh it's so weird, I'm over it now have just accepted it
Hi, U can activate speedometer in settings.
One of the best honest reviews I saw 👌👌👌
what are repair costs like. are they through the roof compared to cars like ford?
Not sure yet, fingers crossed I won't find out for a while 😅
Is that not a digital speedo at the bottom of the screen over the miles and trip?
There are no handles for passanger to hold up when u go to track
Those center holes are for that
My 2016 R has a digital speedo, had to set the area to Australia so I got the mph instead of kmph.
He say's there's no digital speedo yet there's literally one on the screen it's just in Kph, but I mean the conversion are easy af
I like the car the way it is, holla at me - are you selling? Then go buy a Toyota Corolla - you'll love everything about it, trust me!
How is this car for taller drivers? Say someone 6ft+
Small, I'm 5'11 with the seat bottomed out, there is some room and have had 6ft+ friends drive but the do look odd driving it
About the digital speedometer, even my 2013 scirocco has it, how can a 2016 car hasnt got it.
Did you install apple CarPlay yourself
No, @retrofit_westmidlands did it for me
Carista will give you the digital speedo. Worked in mine 👍
I did try Carista but it didn't work, tbh I'm over it now I just use mpg
I’ve got a tsi r line and I fully agree with the arm rest storage, should be a lot bigger inside

I couldn't with Carista but maybe something like OBD11 or Carly might be better. Will have to do some research
