- Winners of the AHEAD Global awards discuss their projects and the state of the hospitality industry in this movie produced by Dezeen for the hotel awards programme.
The winners of the AHEAD Global awards were announced at simultaneous ceremonies at New York's Crosby Street Hotel and Ham Yard Hotel in London, with a live video feed between the two venues.
The AHEAD Global awards represent the finale of a programme of eight regional events held over two years in Europe, the Americas, the Middle East and Africa. The winners from those previous events were pitted against each other to determine the strongest hotels that opened during the period.
Guy Dittrich, editor-at-large of Sleeper Magazine and host of the London ceremony, stated that the purpose of the AHEAD Global awards is to "celebrate the very best of hospitality design."
"What we're looking for with the AHEAD Global awards are projects that create an atmosphere, an experience for the guests that will live in their memory," he said in the video, which Dezeen filmed at the Ham Yard Hotel at the ceremony.

So gorgeous! 🤩🤩🤩
Wow, the Alila Yangshuo in China is stunning and the 1898 The Post in Belgium catches my eye too. Love to see repurposed buildings, especially when they are converted into hotels. These both remind me of The Silo in Cape Town, South Africa in that regard. They all look very unique, with a bit of the old and the new, that I'd think helps create a lasting impression. Thanks for posting and adding to my admiration for this type of architecture.
