Very glad to hear you are loving it so much Ryan! We really tried to lock down drivability like you talked about - all while making some serious power and fun!
The upgrade was noticable yes. If your happy with that. Once anyone does headers, catless jpipe, tgv deletes, egr deletes, charge pipe, airbox, intercooler, fuel pump, flexfuel and a true 3" turbo back exhaust, aos catchcan with pcv barb delete and Protune. On a protune on a 60% flexfuel blend the car is like no other. STIs don't bother me anymore and she drives so.... well. Delicious tuning did 18 revisions on my map to fine-tune it. We managed to tucker out the factory Turbo. So a built block and a 71r turbo upgrade will be my only last option. I do own the 2018 wrx that changed the factory clutch to a 240mm and I have no clutch slipping issues. A high-flow cat on my J pipe did give me wastegate flutter issues, so a catless J pipe is recommended at that point.
I have SRS is J pipe and full Muffler system And a Cold air intake I very rarely have Fumes in my car In the morning only when I step on it I got it Tuned At Precision tuning in NJ
compared to a vw yes modding these cars is 100% worth it stage 2 on a VW GOLF ALLTRACK roughly cost me $3500 for just parts not a tune or installs on my SUBARU WRX ive only spent 2500 and that includes a pro tune and parts install I ONLY USE TOP OF THE LINE VERY HIGH QUALITY PARTS
Also there's an exhaust fume fix... the trunk of the car has some flaps that come open, near the lower edges of the trunk bed. Look it up someone has pictures of a solution on NASIOC I think.
Ran this same exact setup on my wrx for a few months. It seemed better than stock in many ways, but it felt really dull in terms of throttle response. That whole thing in their video how the car feels more eager to go, that's total bs. You have to give it more pedal input to get the same throttle % which, going from stock, feels slower at first on the low end. If you just daily drive, stock feels edgier and quicker but once you mash the gas, the map stage 2 feels smooth and consistent with no torque dip. Overall, it felt quick to me until I ran with a stock-ish wrx and he kept up side by side... Unless he had the same or a similar tune, I really do think this stage 2 does not really add any more power over stock. It runs rich as well. My mpg got worse even babying the car on the freeway... Not knocking on this company, but really nothing special about it, no wonder they give you the map for free when you buy an ap from them. You should plan on going with a proper e-tune or pro-tune as soon as possible. Hit up phatbotti. Ron can tune your car with the current mods and it'll feel better, make more power, and be safer. Also be careful with that intake exposed like that as it'll get soaked in water (mine did). I went back to using a grimmspeed intake with a box. I'd suggest you get some kind of a box for yours as that shield doesn't do anything. Sorry if this sounds like a rant, but too much hype around this stage 2 bs... P.S. use a long ziptie for your plastic snorkel and attach it to the chargepipe.
Thomas Clarke well that's good then! To me it didn't feel any faster. Just smoother. You can't argue the fact that a proper etune or protune is the right way to go for best gains and reliability. Ironically, Ian from maperformance has his wrx tuned by phatbotti... He's not even running his company's tune. Told me that himself. Go figure.
Couple things I want to clear up here. The throttle mapping is linear on purpose. The stock throttle is 100% at 30% input. Our more linear throttle mapping was to help smooth out the drivability, which was the most common complaint on the stock car. Secondly, I had Phatbotti tune my car as our tuner was in Phoenix for 4 weeks, and I needed the car on the road as soon as possible as it's my daily.
Nice video man ! I know how you feel I’m stage 1+ rn Cobb and every little thing I do I feel the difference. I wanna go stage 2 Cobb but what’s the difference between careless and catted ? Besides the fumes
Honestly I just added a Process West Khanacooler, Perrin TGV Deletes, 1320 EGR Deletes, 1320 Shortshifter, Shift stop & Brass bushing, Perrin EBCS, 1320 Charge Pipe, Godspeed 3" catless downpipe to my already installed mods intake, invidia n1 single exit & accessport. and I got a protune from TPG at 310/310 wheel. Im already used to it or something and it already feels slow to me lol.. I spent about $2000 on all that just to gain probably 50hp over the MAPerformance Stage 1 tune. I'm not sure in the end if it all was worth it or not right now until I get a Flex Fuel kit. At least I have all the other supporting mods when I go Flex Fuel though. But I was kind of disappointed with the dyno number, but it was on a Mustang Dyno too so probably 335/336 on a dynojet
Just so you and anyone else reading who also doesnt know, those are after fire sounds coming from the exhaust. Back fire is an explosion of the air/fuel mixture in the intake system, after fire is an explosion of unburned fuel that made it's way into the exhaust system and combusting there.
Probably shouldn’t be smelling exhaust. Better check gaskets in flanges and whatever in the exhaust system. I feel like you may have accidentally screwed something up there. Maybe you forgot to tighten something lol happens to the best of us every now and then
Did u try and block off the sound tub that leads from the factory intake into the cabin which I know you replaced but did you block the tube off that could be where your smell is coming from the exhaust coming from that hole into the cabin
yes, but if you're gonna do that you might as well go stage 3. I'm doing that. it's literally just a TMIC or a FMIC. that's the only part that is added for the stage 3 upgrade kit. will save you money on install and a tune. I'm currently set to install all the stage 3 bolts with TGV/EGR deletes, GS chargepipe. Perrin turbo inlet, boomba recirc valve, full TBE (catted) and upgraded fuel pump (DW 300c).
Are the pops noticeable? I currently have a stock 2019 WRX with the Factory STI exhaust and a resonator delete. It pops and sounds amazing. Will I lose that with this kit?
I know this is really late, but I had the same exhaust. Plain WRX with SPT performance exhaust. Trust me on this.....go remark....those pops become so much better and crispier. Make sure to get the remarks for SPT applications, not the regular remarks. I paid like $425 and I was not disappointed. I ordered the MA stage 2 today, and even ordered Grimm speed studs just in case. I also recommend getting the oil restriction for the turbo, i have read bad things about too much oil leaking past the seals causing a smoking issue. For my stage 2, Kevin at MAPerformance hooked me up quite nicely, not sponsor hookup, but the next best thing.
So my question is, your car is on stage 2+ Cobb inteke , Cobb j- pipe full exhaust system and the access port right , reason am making this question is because am going for stage 2 Cobb parts but am not sure if i need the j pipe just not sure what's the difference between with j pipe and without
@@billnye8783 cobb catted non resonated + r400 resonated was the worst drone ever. then I put the stock midpipe back on and installed muffler deletes and way better it's that straight pipe sound but the drone is more forgiving doesnt cause much buzz in cabin like the r400 did. but now my shit going back to stock to trade in for the 2019 sti.. just dont modify your wrx bro not worth it .. full bolt ons is still slow as fuck just put a nice ets extreme catback and call it a day ... I race my buddies with stock wrx and they're only like half a car behind me .. wasnt worth it for me to do all I did to my wrx tbh
Can I go stage 2 with my stock exhaust? I want to keep the cats to avoid the exhaust stench, unless there's a better solution.. but I want to spend the least amount of $$!! Let's see some 0-60 times!!
How are they not worth it ? I've seen some pretty nice WRXs modded out, granted they spent some serious $$$ on them, but there still worth it with the right mods and proper tune.

The intake cover is there to keep engine heat away from your air intake
I have a 2013 WRX stage 2 and it kicks ass ! Throws you back in the seat. Lol had it up to 110 and could of gone alot faster. Love my car!
doreen merritt damn 😂😂 planning on getting a 2017
So how is the car doing two years later on Stage 2?

if heat shield is installed the cover isn’t necessary, maperformance sells one for a good price that I have in my 2015 wrx along with the heat shield

TheShaddix well the dyno isn’t lying, the power gain is there. Whether you acknowledge it or not.

Ian Peterson Are you still running the phatbotti tune or switched back to the map tune? Would be nice to hear your input on the differences.
When you buy an access port for $300 used and a j pipe for 275$ used then yeah 1000% worth it

GOAT-0091 Cobb OTS maps don’t support catless applications, you need a pro tune for that👌🏻
You’re my favorite car TH-camr at the moment. I’ve watched every one of your Vids man. Good content
Yo at 6:44 my man looks like he's taking flight
How’s it going 2 years later?
It looks a lot like the air induction piece you reinstalled will vent the air past the filter. It may be counterproductive.
It can't hurt.

Love my Cobb Stage 2. Deleicious Tuning E85 conversion makes it all come together. I need to get the r400 though.
Shack23834 how much is the e85 kit?
Seems like its the first time he drives a car with more than 300 hp :):) LIke he smiles I smiled the first time i drove my 550 WHP STI-16 :)
I was told from MAPerformance that their tune would not cover EGR and TGV deletes. Is this true or sales person miss information?
Guess I should have watched the video more. You didnt have the EGR and TGV delete yet.
why is your filter not in a box...
is there any gaskets on your exhaust you might have pinched during install that might be why your smelling fumes at idle

Thinking about Maperformance Stage 2 set up. Same yr as yours 2017 with about 39k. How has it been thus far for you, anything to look out for?
I don’t think a fa Can make that much power with only stage 2. That dyno has to be a car with more supporting mods to make those type of numbers
Considering stage 2. I daily drive my WRX, would you still reccomend the upgrade?
Yes

so how’s the car to this day?

The J-pipe is the most crucial part of upgrading a wrx.
Just a J-pipe and tune is worth it.
Great videos 👍🏼 how did the stage 2 tune affect mpg? Any knock etc?
the MPG goes down
What's gas mileage like on stage 2 I'm getting 27.3 miles but I hear that any stage is helpful towards that is that true??
Did the COBB tune clear the check engine light that would come from taking the cats out of the car?
is it still OK to go stage 2 with 100,000 miles on the wrx?
In some parts of australia its illegal to have the intake unenclosed..
i guess i’m a little late to be commenting on this lol
