    Been running a 56mm titanickel for a year on a 660 n it's actually my only not ported saw as I wanted to test it n was so good I never took it off..numbers were closest to oem than I'd ever seen!! Great cylinder!!

    Hyway makes Meteor’s cylinders for them but Meteor makes their own pistons. Just wanted to throw that out there

      If I remember right, Hyway does the casting, and Meteor does their own plating.

    Good Job Tinman. What would be helpful for some of us building outside the normal Stihl and Husky engines would be if you list the Wrist Pin diameter. For instance, using a 266 Husky piston in an Echo 670. The 266 piston has a little more compression height which allows for the pop up to be cut or for profiling the piston to the cylinder with a cut squish band.

    Great comparison between the two different brand name cylinders,
    What I would like to see is the timming numbers for the concrete saw as compared to your 576.
    I know the concrete saws run slower so it would be interesting to see if there is a difference in the numbers. Stay cool up there we're going to be in the mid 90's this week.

    Great info! I have dealt with Ryan and hes always been great! So you mentioned a 372... how bout doin a farmertech parts kit series but replacing the cheap parts, showing what you use and why. Theres a lot of skepticism around those and how good they are and if oem or good aftermarket parts truly work.

    I wish Wolfcreek would get 50mm pop ups for the 372 OE. I've ported both of mine and they are running great but I would like to put a pop up in them. LRB carries them but I would like a Hyway.

    Great info! Thanks. Any ideas how to cool down a powerhead for milling get more cooling air etc? - my 390xp gets hot pulling a 42 inch bar through white ash. - while I plan to tear it down to see I am thinking I'll be putting in a meteor top, ignition, carb kit and a new oil pump. or maybe I should just retire the 390xp to a 36 inch felling saw and get a different head for milling?

    • @tinmanssaws
      @tinmanssaws  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For milling big stuff a 394, 395, 2100 etc would probably better serve you.
      A good muffler mod and running the saw a bit rich, taking breaks to let the saw cool is about all you can do when milling.

      @@tinmanssaws Thanks! I got a G660 Holzforma running it on 25:1 ( double my regular Husky mix just use 6.4 oz on 1 gallon instead of 2 gallons efree) seems to work. Might do some Stihl replacements to tensioner but brake and recoil seems ok on this power head. I be rebuilding the 390XP just got a box of bits from Wolf Creek saws (and they called me about bearings one side is Husqvarna patented the other a good ole 6203) maybe I should send it to you? Great video as always. :) Have you ever considered doing a newbie porting video on cheap 100$ (and less) Chinese 2500 series? They're everywhere on ebay. The reason I ask is the price. As a learning saw they're great for a beginner and you won't cry if you completely stuff it up. Just get another and try again. I think they'd be a cheap'n'cheerful way to learn and practice skills. 2500's are everywhere, you can see them with a hundred brands and it's all the same saw with a different coloured set of plastics with slightly different logo's or bits of plastic on them. Ebay has heaps if you search for "25cc chainsaw". What do you think?

    • @WildAcresFarms
      @WildAcresFarms 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Porting work makes an exponentially larger difference as the motor grows in displacement. I learned to port on a $75 HyWay top end installed on a blown up Stihl 044 I bought for all of $250. I ruined the first cylinder and Wolf Creek came through bigtime, rushing me a replacement at the price of regular shipping. I have $500 in a ported, screaming saw that would have been $1000 to buy brand new from the dealer.

    I recently installed a Hyway p and c into a MS460. The parts looked very clean and attentively made, and the saw is running very well. One thing that I later came across on the internet was someone cautioning about using the c clips that come with Hyway, the ones with the curled inward ends that are easy to install with a needle nose pliers. The comment was that the curled ends can break off during use, and someone else agreed. I have used those before on other saws without so far a problem. Have you found those c clips breaking to be a legitimate concern? I used the Hyway parts on another guy's saw and now I'm concerned about the clips. Thanks!
