Legend, this helped me with my lame shadows. Now they look much more realistic.

Exactly what I need! I've been struggling with this shadow problem. This occlusion opacity solution is easy, quick, and elegant.

I ended up rendering 2 images. One without shadows and one with ground shadows enabled. Stacked the one with shadows as bottom layer in photoshop and adjusted "levels" to control the shadow spread and layer transparency to control intensity. I can confirm that using a soft brush is a horrible idea.

Hi, i hope you can see this comment. Thanks for the tutorial it worked incredible with white backgrounds. How can i make it work sending the render with Alpha Channel and no background? Thanks!

Hi, this occlusion opacity solution was very helpful. My problem is when I want to export it including the alpha channel it does not export it without the background. Let me know if you have an answer to this.

Nice tip, it seems to only work for a white background though, when you make the background coloured (in photoshop) the shadow is a fixed colour. If you produce the shadow with the standard ground material and set the environment to black you can put any colour behind it in photoshop (when rendering with Alpha transparency).

Hi Samuel. You are right! I think if you render on a black background using this setup, it should work as you describe as well. Thanks for the heads up.

Hi Esteban! Amazing video! I got all the way through but I need it to be with the product, shadow and transparent background instead of white, like Samuel was explaining. But I can't seem to make it. Any tip?

I have set the environment background color to black like Samuel said.

It seems like the material of the ground plane matters in this. It wasn't until I noticed that your ground plane geometry has a ground material (I was using diffuse) that things started working better for me. Any idea why this might be?
