great tips for those new and old to aerogardens. i wish i had this video to watch when i started. i was buying the custom kits until i felt confident on how to put together appropriate size plants for the aerogarden.
I just recently got a new to me aero garden. It's the old 6 model. But I'm just learning for the 1st time how to do this type of gardening. So I figured it was a good starting point. And it was something that I could actually afford being on my tight fixed income. So when I was looking for information I ended burning across your channel and seeing that I've watched a few of your videos I've decided to subscribe. And I'll definitely be watching more of your videos.
love this video! Wish I saw it when I first started my Aerogardens. I feel like I wasted a lot of money on the Aerogarden pods. Lots of the seeds didn't germinate, and like you there would be some seeds in a kit that I don't want/use. Thanks for the video!
I reuse the baskets from Aerogarden, get a ton of sponges from Amazon and also stickers. Seeds I get everywhere. Renee’s seeds had some great French Mascotte Green Beans that work really well in Aerogardens. I plant two bushes in a Bounty and they grow very fast!
I agree, this is the way to go! I've been making my own pods since I found your channel. I never knew MIgardener sold seeds until I saw one of your packets.$2 what a deal! And the dollar store is also great as you mentioned.
Dollar Tree sells basic varieties of veg and herb seeds for cheap, I use to get them 4 for a dollar! They only have them in the late winter then sell until inventory runs out.
I just sowed some Tiny Tim tomatoes in my unit last night. I tried Gardeners Delight but it grew too tall (had reached the curtain pole), was too leggy so that was a failure. I'll sow the remaining seeds in my greenhouse next year. Hoping the Tiny Tim do better. Also had to pot up my Chilli plant as it too had grown too tall. It's a nice, strong, healthy plant so I think it will do well. It has flower buds on it. I have an Italian Basil which I've had to cut back several times. Part of it I've rooted to give to a friend, the rest I've been drying for my own use. The Dill just kept on growing and I have a box of it in the freezer. The Spinach wasn't a success. I did get one to grow but it went leggy, probably because it was stretching for the light. Trying that again but if no success, will grow the remaining seeds outside next year. I love the hydroponic unit and am really enjoying experimenting with different plants in it.
@@aerogardenexperiments I will. It's great fun experimenting with different seeds. I also love cooking and the difference in taste from what I've grown myself in the unit and what can be bought in the shops are worlds apart. The Basil - which is an Italian Basil, has huge leaves and the flavour is outstanding. I've planted another Romaine lettuce. Tried an Iceberg but that went leggy too so not a success. The Romaine just kept on producing leaves until it burnt itself out. Must be the longest lasting lettuce I've ever had. Now trying Parsley, Mint as well as the tomatoes, more Rocket, another attempt at Spinach and my Rosemary is growing but slowly. I want a second unit but it's finding space to put one. Can only put it in the kitchen (which is very small) as anywhere else my cats will eat what I grow and that can be bad for them. Definitely glad I got the hydroponic unit.
Hi I need help? I have this calamondin seedling thats planted in soil and I heard that I have to clean the plant first with food grade hydrogen peroxide, but how do I clean it? I want to transfer it from the soil it came in to my aerogarden. Thank you!!!
I don't think it's necessary to wash the plant with hydrogen peroxide. One thing we have to be very careful is, the plant from the soil may bring some insects (like aphids, spidermites, etc.) so definitely wash the plant thoroughly. I normally soak the plant in water for couple of minutes and then rinse it under running water. I never washed the plants with hydrogen peroxide. I know there are a lot of advantages to the plants with hydrogen peroxide but I am not sure every plant can take it the same way. So, I wouldn't try it unless I am OK to take some risk if the plant couldn't survive.
After all these years, i still haven't figured out a way to have the (any size) AEROGARDEN nutrients to not SPILL everywhere when poured. So much is wasted ! 😣
I decanted mine into a bottle with an eye dropper. (Five 1" "squeezes" equals one bottle cap.) Also, you can use an old fashioned V-shaped can opener to punch just a triangular spout shape in the paper seal on the top, which helps.)
@@aerogardenexperiments I grow this, too. Normally, with Kale, you have to remove the stems, but go ahead and chop these up. The young leaves and stems are delicious.
Hi, may I know what problem you ran into with migardener? I have been buying seeds from them for the last 3 years and haven't had any issues so far. So, I am just curious.
Sir, your channel is so VALUABLE that it is INVALUABLE !!
Appreciate all of your hard work 🌻

You can also replace the costly sponge with cotton ball, and the stickers with aluminum foil

I only buy red heirloom cherry tomatoes and use the extra seedlings to grow extra plants
I agree. I do the same thing. The only pods I have are those ones that came with the aerogarden.

yeah, I tried a couple of varities that I bought at dollar store and they worked out very well.
Great video.
I buy seeds from all those companies. Free shipping is a really big deal.
Thank you.

wow! That's a lot of good information. You are a great gardener. Please keep us updated on your experiments and experiences.

Have you tried to dispense nutrients using a syringe? If not, that works great.

Where do you get the seeds for the Kale you grow in areo garden? What type of kale grows best in aero garden?
www.rareseeds.com/dwarf-siberian-kale

Thank you! 🙂
I bought from another company one machine and it failed and didn't pump. I will stick to Aerogarden only. What pump cycle setting do you use?
Hi, we cannot control the pump in Aerogarden. It has a default setting to run 5 mins every 1 hour.
You forgot to hide your home and email address. 😯
Thanks so much for the hint. I really appreciate it.
Good catch!
@@aerogardenexperiments Glad I could help. Keep up the good work! I love your videos, I learned a lot and experimented a lot too. 😃
