If you want to get much better performance out of any of these mini indoor hydroponic gardens, create a reflective curtain made of silver/chrome (reflective side inward) mylar that you wrap around the gardens light hood. Make sure you create a few open top gaps so excess heat vents out. You'll get growth performance thats about double (+100%) what these gardens offer by default, and because the plants are getting light at all angles, it promotes bushy (doubly so if you prune your plants) growth rather than leggy growth. I would also recommend against crowding your garden. Just because it has x number of seeds pods, does not mean that's whats best for growth and performance. Research the growth height and recommended garden spacing of the plant(s) you want to grow, and follow those directions with your Aerogarden. I dedicated my Harvest model to a single basil plant (as a test subject for my reflective curtain idea), and came out with a basil plant thats about the size and bushiness of a high quality garden centers 10" pot of geraniums. Its the most full and healthy basil plant I have EVER seen.
@@InTheGarden Sure. I also placed aluminum foil (shiny side out) on the hood (under the bulb) of my fluorescent Aerogarden models, and did the same on the deck where the seed pods are. Every surface around my plants catches all light and reflects it back at the plants from all angles.

Hi Evelyn! It is really up to your preference. I set mine so it would turn on during the middle of the night and then be on during the day, but would turn off around sunset. I felt that the light was too bright to have on in the evening while we were cooking dinner and watching TV, etc. So it would be on while we were sleeping and then only during daylight hours. Can you grow other foods besides herbs like tomatoes or bell peppers for instance? And can you transport the plants from the unit and continue growing them in soil?
Yes, they sell seed pods with a variety of plants, including tomatoes and peppers, and also a "grow anything" kit that you can use your own seeds in. However, with large plants you can't fit as many at one time. You can absolutely start seeds in the AeroGarden and transplant to soil. This works great, and there is even a seed starting tray that is designed specifically to start more seeds at once for transplanting. Nearly all plants will attract some insects, but with indoor plants they are usually attracted to the soil more than the plant. Since the AeroGarden doesn't have soil, you really shouldn't have any issues with insects. You may have the occasional gnat or something, but that's all. Thanks for watching 😊🌱

About 16 hours per day, but the Aerogarden will turn them on and off automatically
