Yellow canary has been a favorite for me in the aerogarden! Taste amazing! A true cherry tomato flavor, very balanced, and tomato-y. Everyone who’s tried them from my garden has loved them. They produced close to 50 of them now! It does need more pruning to avoid touching the light though, even though It claims to max out at 9 inches.

I've just started harvesting tomatoes from 2 plants in an Aerogarden Harvest model - Jochalos and Pinnochio Orange. Both are micro dwarf varieties from Bunny Hop Seeds, and are quite tasty! 80 days to first ripe fruit. Using a fan for vibration/pollination of the plants. Just planted 4 more micro dwarf varieties (also from Bunny Hop Seeds) in a Bounty Elite model I managed to get for $199 mid-December as an Amazon special deal.

Hi, still checking out your older videos. Long time AG grower here. I gave up on tomatoes in the AG because they just didn't taste good. BUT here in 2024 I am growing a Kitchen Mini Siam tomato with an excellent growth habit and lots of tomatoes just starting to ripen. I'll post again when I taste them. I also have a Siam in a pot under my seed starting shop lights that are a week or so behind but last year the Siam tomato quality was excellent for an indoor grown tomato - meaning it tasted like a tomato, not "tart" with good consistency. Not sure if you still have your little AG but next fall I'm going to try the Kitchen Mini cucumber Quick Snack.
I'm glad you shared this. I thought about trying some of the Kitchen minis in my AG, but haven't done it yet. I'd love to know what you think of the flavor of the AG plant!
Hi Jenna, completed the grow with the Siam in the AG and - meh, not good. Not spit out bad, but not the taste we want, The Siam planted in potting mix under shop lights was 100 times better in taste. And FYI, I dabbled in mixing my own nutes for hydroponics a few years back and it still didn't grow a good tasting tomato indoors. So next fall I'll concentrate on cucumbers and peppers indoors under lights.
Just got the bounty 40 watt version and loved it so much I went back and ordered the bounty elite 50 watt version! I’m getting a couple for Christmas gifts to a few family members as well! Can’t wait to see the looks on their faces! 🙏🏼😌👀🖤
Nice video. I'm 1 month into my Heirloom Cherry tomato plants. I use milk jugs caps for plugs. I changed the water by siphoning the water out. Much easier. You just have to unplug the pump. Nothing else.
I loved that you was honest with how it tasted. I have a similar setup and I just pruned it back today. I have them in two of the pods. Along with 3 other plants (basil, oregano, and thyme) but it's the tomatos that are growing the most.
I think the Aerogarden is great for indoor herbs- in fact I'm going to be staring some today. I'd love to hear what you think of the flavor of your tomatoes- perhaps they will turn out better than mine!
@Growfully with Jenna today one of our little tomatoes fell off so we decided to try it (plus pick one off the tree). I was a bit nervous bcuz I watched your video, but to our surprise they were sweet and tasty! What a relief!
I had an AeroGarden several years ago, but I mainly used it for seed starting. The General Hydroponics Flora Series nutrients worked well for me - you get a lot more for your money. I now use the GH nutes when I start my seeds in the BioDome. Have you ever tried Orange Hat tomatoes? They get about 8 inches tall and are decent tasting.
Thanks so much for the tips, Heather! I'll have to try the nutrients you suggested. I've not tried Orange Hat tomatoes either, so I'll have to add those to my list. Take care & enjoy the rest of your weekend!
It's funny you say that- I'm getting ready to start an entire batch of basil in mine. Typically by the end of the season my outdoor basil plants have succumbed to downy mildew or bolted, so I figured this would be a good way to still have fresh basil with my late tomatoes! Thanks for sharing!
So glad for this video! Just received an aerogarden as a gift and wanting to learn more before I put water in it. Was really hoping to grow tomatoes so I hope you found a good one. Will keep an eye out for more videos!
I have a couple older aerogardens and accessories that are useful. They sell clips to support the plants and be sure to use a taller model to grow the taller plants. There’s also a siphon bulb to easier be able to change the water out and plugs you can put in the empty pods. I’ve found the seedling trays can be useful as long as you don’t let the plants get too big. Otherwise their roots get tangled. My favorite things to grow all winter are lettuces. I use 2 aerogardens so I always have fresh greens in the winter but be sure it’s in a cooler room or the plants get limp. Hope this is helpful. Love your channel!
Just hang a grow light up above the unit and let the jalapeno plant grow. You can even put it near a window and let them get sunlight. I know instructions say not to but I have no had any issues doing so.
Ive seen lots of ppl say they add Cal Mag to the aero for better tasting & healthier tomato plants. You need very little amount and makes a big difference. Ill be trying this soon.
I did an experiment of pruning my peppers outside last year. The ones I pruned back produced drastically less than those I left alone. They got way more bushy but produced so much less fruit.
I've watched a lot of videos about topping the pepper plant which causes it to stay low and become more bushy instead of growing tall and lanky. I'm growing some pepper plants now and will be topping them as soon as they get to the right height.
Why am I so nervous about starting this garden!!!??!??! It's been 12 days. I now know I'm trying to grow too much in my Harvest Elite. Tomato, Jalapeno, Basil, Mint, Onion. I want a tomato that I can thoroughly enjoy with toast and mayo in the summer!!! Love your honesty!!!
We have an iDoo instead of the Aerogarden and I am using their fertilizer. I succeeded with Tiny Tim, but am going to try micro dwarf varieties this winter. The flavor was good. Our basil and lettuce thrived. A fan really helps. It strengthens the leaves and makes them denser. Without the fan, the lettuce leaves can be a little wimpy.
Nice maters! Sad the pepper was not able to grow out like it wanted to. I'm not a fan of the AeroGarden. They are really made to grow small things like lettuce and herbs. Plus they are very pricey! Simple tote with a hanging light works much better as you have full control over the height. Thanks for showing us the results. Stay safe and have a wonderful weekend!
Yep- after playing around with it, I'm in agreeance with you CB. I'd have been better off just building my own setup from the get-go. Now I have 2 of them (I was given another one by a friend who didn't use theirs) so I'm just going to use them to grow herbs & lettuce like you say. It might be a great option for folks who have never grown anything and have very little space for growing setups- but it feels like they should be about 1/2 the price! Take care & enjoy your Sunday!
I have grown the Tiny Tim's, Tiny Tom's, and the orange hats that had a great taste. I use maxigrow 10-5-14 also . Instead of the AeroGarden nutrients. Thanks again for sharing your video. 😊
Interesting! I'm gonna guess that you are right about the nutrients, but water changes and keeping light out probably would cut down on microbial load which might damage plant health and fruit flavor. Was it in a cold or hot environment? Always heard tomatoes need heat to ripen properly.
Oh- that's a good point that I didn't even think about. We keep our house at about 68F, which is a little chilly for tomatoes! When I compare that to the tomatoes grown outdoors, which are regularly exposed to temps in the upper 80s/lower 90s, it would make sense that would affect the flavor. Thanks for bringing this up, David! Take care & have a great day!
such an honest and complete review. I like this channel a lot. I also live in Ohio hence this channel has the most useful information for my local home garden. Keep up the good work
I'm getting one! I'm excited to germinate peppers in it and transferring them out to hydroponic 5 gallon buckets. I also have many micro tomato varieties to try indoors.
Honestly, I could not wait to get mine after your review! But seeing that Aerogarden is now closing shop - what's the best alternative if I'm into a long term thing where I need to be sure of the brand, get reliable pods, support, etc. So the knock off solutions don't actually suit me.
Aluminum tape to cover up the holes that are not being used. Also use a small aquarium pump to pump oxygen into the water instead of changing out the water.
New subscriber here! Found your channel because I just picked up an aerogarden and want to try my hand at indoor herbs during the winter - basil and cilantro are what I have in mind. Excited!
Hello & thank you for the support, I truly appreciate you taking the time to watch, comment & subscribe! I think you'll love the Aerogarden for herbs- that's likely what I'll be using mine for this winter. Take care!
You can use it to start the seeds and transfer the tomatoes and peppers to the neatly method after starting. You can also use baby food jar lids or regular mason jar lids as "plugs."
re. Jalapenos, when they got too big, I would've repotted them in ceramic w/drainage saucer. I do not have a Aerogarden. I do everything from diff seedhouses. I have luck with Coleus and basil and sometimes cilantro. I might get a grow kit. When I plant seeds. I write down on index cards and use diff circle stickers and stick them on the pot with tape to protect what wrote on the sticker and i stick the same colored sticker on the index card.
Tomatoes and peppers are self pollinating so you don’t need a special tool. Just shake the plant 2-3 times a week or whenever you think about it when they are flowering, and it will pollinate itself.
Thanks, Elliott. I used the paintbrush with these because I wanted to make sure each blossom got pollinated. I'm growing another batch now and just keeping a fan on them per another viewer's recommendation... shaking would work too. Take care!
@@GrowfullywithJenna it will be interesting to see if variety makes a difference in taste. A lot of conventional tomato growers recommend reducing watering when tomatoes start to blush to concentrate the sugars in the fruit and improve taste. I’m guessing that’s not really possible with an Aerogarden.
@@elliottmcfadden6261 yes, I'm very excited to see if there's a difference. I'm also going to test out the same varieties in soil to see how the taste varies between growing methods.
I'm certain that should be doable! I'm not super patient and when I tried I couldn't get it to sit at quite the right angle, so I gave up (after like 5 seconds). With a little more thought, I'm sure it would be a better solution than tying it to my paper towels😆. Take care & enjoy the rest of your weekend!
@@GrowfullywithJenna I can't wait to see how it does with your seeds. I have a new cherry tomato seed to try this year... It is a cherry tomato that crossed with my mexican midget cherry tomato and one of my either brandywine or other tomatoes lol. Last year the cherry tomatoes were large and tasted amazing. Hopefully it does the same thing this year.
I appreciate this review! Have had my eye on one for awhile. Things like basil and lettuce for the winter is what I was thinking of using it for. The jalapenos look great! Can't wait to see the other varieties you try.
For basil & lettuce it will do great! I think you'll be happy with the results. It should be interesting- next I've decided to test growing the same dwarf varieties in the Aerogarden versus in soil under a grow light... I'm very curious how the flavor will be affected. Take care & have a wonderful week!
I had a basil that grew like a champ, smelled wonderful, and tasted great. My lettuces have totally grown well, too. So, this might work well for you. :)
You're welcome. I still think it's a pretty handy contraption for growing things like lettuce & herbs, which is probably what I'll stick to using mine for now. Sorry to hear that your cousin wasn't impressed! Take care & enjoy your Sunday!
@@GrowfullywithJenna thanks! I pulled the trigger on general hydroponics floranova bloom 4-8-7 and will probably ease into it once buds form by mixing with the stock aerogarden liquid or foxfarm grow big (pretty similar substitute i also purchased to try) to keep things balanced and play it safe. I'll try to update once I get there, the wait begins!
Update here, even with using floranova bloom, the tomato taste was just ok or average. They can't compare to the super sweet sunset brand flavor bomb tomatoes. The plants got very productive and large as a result though, and were making more suckers and flowers than for their own good.
Just wanted to add that the larger Aerogarden units have a 24in max light height. On Amazon they sell a Tomato and pepper kit with the black covers made for the garden. Also, the Tomatoes here look very orange to me and not the deep red of a fully ripe tomato, which may be why they didn't taste very good.
Thanks, checked it out on Amazon... but I don't think I'll be dropping $600+ on an Aerogarden any time soon 😆. I thought the same thing about the tomato color. So I waited... and waited...and waited... for weeks after the initial color change. They never got any darker, and the flavor never got any better. Also, depending on the variety, some tomatoes do ripen to be a true rich red, while others ripen to more of an orange red. They don't disclose which specific 'red heirloom cherry' this is, so I can't say for sure.
Primarily because they would get shaded out by the tomato & pepper plants and tend to stretch and get very leggy. I even had this problem growing multiple herbs- the larger more vigorous types (basil, cilantro) completely out competed and shaded out my rosemary and chives- I ended up having to move them to different pots.
Yes, I think for someone just starting out this might be a fun option. I fear it will be disappointing for folks who have gardening experience, especially those who grow their own tomatoes! I will continue to use it for growing greens & herbs through the winter, as it's quite handy for that. Ultimately, I should have just built my own indoor growing setup! Take care & enjoy the rest of your weekend!
@@GrowfullywithJenna Good thinking. Newbies need a chance to observe and learn. On a similar note. Of all the different lights I played with it looks like the Barrina full spectrums are the best ones but even cheap led shop lights are working really good for seedlings. Have a good weekend. Take care.
@@bbtruth2161 good to know about the lights- thank you for sharing! I'm seeing similar results, in that just for seed starting there's really no need to splurge on the expensive lights. You'd really only need them if you're planning on growing plants to maturity indoors. Have a great week!
@@GrowfullywithJenna McCormack makes a disposable pepper grinder that you can get at the market that comes with a cap that fits the holes perfectly too.
What I'd really like to see is a video on how and when to prune tomato plants in the Aerogarden. I'm on my third planting (in a Farm 12XL and a Bounty Elite) and know I'm not getting the full benefits.
Since the variety I grew was so small, I did very minimal pruning- just trimming out some area where branches crossed or were overly crowded. That Farm 12XL is quite the setup!
Yes, it's a monster but it quickly became obvious that the Bounty doesn't really (despite what Aerogarden would have people believe) have the capacity for a satisfactory crop of tomatoes. Next time, I'm going to take your suggestion and plant a couple micro varieties from Baker Creek Seeds. [I wonder how many people recognize their catalog cover as an homage to the late, great Whole Earth Catalog? Or even remember it. I still have mine.]
The size of an Aerogarden with six pods sprout can hold 0.7 US Gallons. A model of 9 pods of the Aerogarden can capture 1.1 US gallons of water as the maximum amount of value. And that of the farm range models of Aeroponics, the water reservoir of such system can hold up to 2 US Gallons of water.
I have the two heirloom tiny tomatoes growing pretty well in the aerogarden. I'm wondering if I can successfully start a few new herbs in the other spots but my grow light is at the highest point bcuz of the tomatoes. Think they will still grow? Thinking about some basil and parsley
I suspect they will still grow- my main concern would be that as the tomatoes get bigger they will crowd out/shade out the herbs and your herbs may become stretched and leggy. In particular the parsley as it is a slower grower than the basil.
That's definitely an option, Juliette! I left it in the Aerogarden because I wanted to see how the whole process (from seed to fruiting) would go. I was hoping that Aerogarden would have selected varieties that stay naturally dwarf so that you could complete the whole process successfully... alas that was not the case! If you were to transplant the pepper, it would definitely need to be done earlier in the process- there are so many roots entangled throughout the innards of the Aerogarden tank at this point, I fear it would be detrimental to try to remove it now. Take care & enjoy the remainder of your weekend!
@@GrowfullywithJenna I’m always amazed when something like that happens because it’s their business and they ought to know how to select the right plants. I’d be curious to hear their response.
You can program the light to come on at whatever time you like- but then it will be on for 12+ hours depending on which setting you choose. So you could program the light to come on at say, 9 pm instead of 7 am, for instance.
Excellent. Thank you. I have been skeevy about using their fertilizer. Can you advise how to add a DIY fertilizer? p.s. Apero organic tomatoes are insane and available in the Winter at Whole Paycheck. Ok, thanks to this video I will not be giving this gadget away.
I would love to advise- but I don't have great solution yet! I'm still working on finding an ideal DIY, organic fertilizer and will certainly share once I've figured one out!
A 'DIY" alternative for this kind of system seems more useful and versatile to me, even if it means using some dirt. :) I've had some peppers and cherry tomatoes on my windowsill in my balcony and for some reason, despite knowing the importance of bees, it has never once crossed my mind to do the pollination with a brush!
Yes it absolutely does. I tried growing some microdwarf tomato & peppers in soil under a good quality, full spectrum grow light earlier this year and the results were sooo much better! I'm going to keep tweaking my system; hoping to work on this winter. Regarding the pollination, someone told me that just giving your plants a healthy shake each day works just as well as the paintbrush and is much easier. I'm giving that a try next time. Take care!
Sadly my aerogarden never really worked -- the bubbler would always get clogged and stop working in like... A day. Even after they sent me a new part! Maybe it's the temperature in my house, like maybe it's never warm enough for all that calcium and whatnot in the solution to stay dissolved? I dunno. Glad it serms to have worked for you... Except taste-wise 😕😥
I'm sorry to hear that-- as expensive as those Aerogardens are I'd expect better than that! Not sure if temps would effect it- as reference our house is usually around 68F, though at times a bit colder. If I run across any explanations as to why that might be happening with your pump I'll be sure to let you know! And yes- that taste was disappointing to say the least. I'll pretty much stick to growing lettuce & herbs with it in the future! Take care!
This could be due to hard water being used. I have to buy about 4 gallons of water a month to keep my garden running as the water in my house is hard, and it clogs up the pump.
Yeah- I'll be using to grow lettuce & herbs through the winter months... I'm pretty happy with it for growing those types of plants. I think for a beginner, this would be a fun way to kind of get them hooked on growing their own.
From what I've seen so far, if you just want to grow lettuce, greens or herbs, the Aerogarden works just fine. But for tomatoes and peppers I'm having much better results growing them in pots under a good quality grow-light indoors. If you want to grow them hydroponically, it sounds like building your own hydro setup for tomatoes is a better way to go-- though I've not had a chance to try that yet. Take care, Omar!
Agreed! Which is a big reason it took me this long to even consider venturing into hydroponic territory. Now I'm looking for options simply to get me through the winter months (until I can out & play in the dirt). I think building my own setup versus using the Aerogarden makes a lot more sense. Take care & enjoy the week ahead!
Oh no what a bummer. I put mine in pots at 20 days. At 32 days they’re doing good. I’m growing them to give away since I don’t like tomatoes. Here’s hoping mine taste better than yours did. When your face turned sour I felt so bad for you.
I hope yours taste better too! I've been using the Aerogarden for herbs lately and am having much better results when I transfer them to pots. Take care!
The first "round" of tomatoes are often not as flavorful as the 2nd... etc. Especially with earth boxes and hydroponics. That plant looks TOO stressed. It could be the breed isnt right for the situation or TOO much light., Try adding Cal Mag and adjusting the amount of light to a smaller amount. That's where the AG Bounty is great... YOU control how long the light is on and when.
@@GrowfullywithJenna i added a mini pump to mind and its very healthy and strong ,no burning and i used 3 cap of the nutrients and replace it every 14 days and add water every 3-4 days
Seriously? For the cost of the Aero ($119 CDN black Friday at bb and beyond) just go buy organic produce. Use a garden or pot based growing in the spring through fall.

@Growfully with Jenna today one of our little tomatoes fell off so we decided to try it (plus pick one off the tree). I was a bit nervous bcuz I watched your video, but to our surprise they were sweet and tasty! What a relief!
@@shawnehayes I'm glad to hear that!
I use it exclusively for basil. Perfect for the two of us. Might even try to transplant them into the garden.
Very helpful, thank you Ronnie! Take care!
Adding ice cubes works great with lettuce as well.
Just hang a grow light up above the unit and let the jalapeno plant grow. You can even put it near a window and let them get sunlight. I know instructions say not to but I have no had any issues doing so.
There are micro pumps they sell at aquarium stores that u can can connect to a tube and drop the pump in to pump all the water out for water change :)
Thank you!
Very interesting! I never prune my outdoor peppers (though I hear from so many folks who do). I love that you did a side by side experiment.
I've watched a lot of videos about topping the pepper plant which causes it to stay low and become more bushy instead of growing tall and lanky. I'm growing some pepper plants now and will be topping them as soon as they get to the right height.
Topping can definitely help, Variety selection can make a big difference in this regard as well. Best of luck with your peppers!
Thanks for the vid. We just started with the enclosed herb package, but more interested in peppers and tomatoes.
You're welcome!
And I put a golf ball in the opening I'm not using.
Great idea! And don't be too nervous- just think of it as a fun experiment. I hope it goes well for you!
I like to use this to start my seeds for my garden
That's a great idea!
Appreciate the honesty about the flavor. Good luck.
Thanks!
Thank you for your honesty good luck!
I never change the water in mine, the longest it was in use before having to re-sow was around 4-6 months and I had no issues.
Jenna .tomatoes are looking delicious. Thanks for sharing 👍.
Keep up the good work
Awesome! Thank you!
I'm getting one! I'm excited to germinate peppers in it and transferring them out to hydroponic 5 gallon buckets. I also have many micro tomato varieties to try indoors.
That sounds great! The aerogarden should work really well for this purpose- have fun!
Honestly, I could not wait to get mine after your review! But seeing that Aerogarden is now closing shop - what's the best alternative if I'm into a long term thing where I need to be sure of the brand, get reliable pods, support, etc. So the knock off solutions don't actually suit me.
lol just get a click and grow, way easier, no bs solution.
Aluminum tape to cover up the holes that are not being used. Also use a small aquarium pump to pump oxygen into the water instead of changing out the water.
Thanks for the advice, Josh!
Take care!
I covered my (white) top with darker colored contact paper to block out the light. It also makes it look kinda pretty. 😊
Great tip, Jillian. Thank you for sharing!
You can use it to start the seeds and transfer the tomatoes and peppers to the neatly method after starting. You can also use baby food jar lids or regular mason jar lids as "plugs."
Great tips- than you so much!
I just got some of these pods, Was going to ask you about them but found this video. I'll get back to you and let you know how they did!
I'd love to know what you think of them!
try Tiny Tims they are really tasty vs other Dwarf varieties i tried. Red Robins are ok too but i thought they had very thick skin for my liking
I have the Harvest 360 version and was able to grow 3 Jalapeños and 1 parsley plant all are very fruitful I actually have enough to share.
That's good to know, Betty. Thank you for sharing. I'm curious- how large did the jalapeno peppers get on your plants? Thanks again & take care!
Love an honest review. Thanks! What have you grown in this machine that did turn out flavorful? Cheers
Herbs and leafy greens seem to do just fine!
Pretty cool. Maybe try tying the tomato plant to the pole on the light?
@@pgjc756 how fun- I'd love to hear how that tomato turns out this year!
@@csinclaire1 thank you!
@@csinclaire1 glad to hear it! I've got a batch of herbs in it right now and the basil & sage are doing amazing. Thanks for sharing your experience!
Did you experiment with other kinds of tomatoes and peppers or a different fertilizer mix since posting this video? Thanks.
Thank you for being honest. I bought my cousin a version and she wasn’t impressed.
You're welcome. I still think it's a pretty handy contraption for growing things like lettuce & herbs, which is probably what I'll stick to using mine for now. Sorry to hear that your cousin wasn't impressed! Take care & enjoy your Sunday!
Dang and I just started some tomatoes in this. Now I know for sure I'm going to use a fruiting specific fertilizer to help boost the flavor
That is a great idea- I think you'll have much better results by tweaking the fertilizer. I'd love to know how they do for you!
@@GrowfullywithJenna They're 30% off right now.
@@suzannes5888 good to know- thank you!
Love your honesty
Thanks!
Ok but I love the outside gardening, But interesting and amazing results.
Thanks for the teaching Lady
I agree, John. I absolutely prefer outdoor growing, but love having options for the winter! Take care!
We just bought one of these and have sprouts already on some herbs, one week after planting. When should we remove the little plastic domes?
I remove the domes as soon as the seeds germinate and little sprouts are visible
Love the tether to a paper towel rack lol
😂
Is there reason you didn't grow an herb, or other small item, in the empty plugs?
Primarily because they would get shaded out by the tomato & pepper plants and tend to stretch and get very leggy. I even had this problem growing multiple herbs- the larger more vigorous types (basil, cilantro) completely out competed and shaded out my rosemary and chives- I ended up having to move them to different pots.
Way to give a good review without being too negative. Aerogarden definitely not for me. Might work for someone wanting to do a small bit of herbs.
Golf balls block the openings from light perfectly
That's an ingenious solution, Stephen- thanks for sharing!
@@GrowfullywithJenna McCormack makes a disposable pepper grinder that you can get at the market that comes with a cap that fits the holes perfectly too.
@@StephenWorth NIce!! We've actually got quite a few of those. I should have thought of that- thanks!
@@mnemonth I did not know that about the Baker Creek cover!
@@GrowfullywithJenna You're too young. (YT won't let me link to a picture of the Whole Earth Catalog cover, but there is Google.)
@@mnemonth yep- I had to go look it up to see what it was... just a smidge before my time.
So I live in an apartment, how would you recommend to grow vegetables indoors if this product is not worth it?
Thanks for the honest review and for revealing this products Monsanto affiliation. Much appreciated.
You're welcome! Thanks for watching, Cynthia!
Thanks for sharing
I have the two heirloom tiny tomatoes growing pretty well in the aerogarden. I'm wondering if I can successfully start a few new herbs in the other spots but my grow light is at the highest point bcuz of the tomatoes. Think they will still grow? Thinking about some basil and parsley
I suspect they will still grow- my main concern would be that as the tomatoes get bigger they will crowd out/shade out the herbs and your herbs may become stretched and leggy. In particular the parsley as it is a slower grower than the basil.
@Growfully with Jenna Thanks, I pruned a lot of the flowers on the tomatoes so the light is coming through pretty good. I'll let you know how it goes.
Why not transplant the jalepeño into a larger pot and let it grow?
That's definitely an option, Juliette! I left it in the Aerogarden because I wanted to see how the whole process (from seed to fruiting) would go. I was hoping that Aerogarden would have selected varieties that stay naturally dwarf so that you could complete the whole process successfully... alas that was not the case!
If you were to transplant the pepper, it would definitely need to be done earlier in the process- there are so many roots entangled throughout the innards of the Aerogarden tank at this point, I fear it would be detrimental to try to remove it now.
Take care & enjoy the remainder of your weekend!

I’m always amazed when something like that happens because it’s their business and they ought to know how to select the right plants. I’d be curious to hear their response.
@@julietteyork3721 I thought the very same thing!
Does the light need to be on all day or can I put the lights on at night only?
You can program the light to come on at whatever time you like- but then it will be on for 12+ hours depending on which setting you choose. So you could program the light to come on at say, 9 pm instead of 7 am, for instance.
I honestly wonder if not changing the water like you should affected the taste. 🤔
I did change the water, I just found that it was not the easiest thing to do.
I was not expecting those results. Thanks for sharing and I enjoyed seeing your little helper at the end.
Nor was I! I didn't think they'd be the best tomatoes over, but I certainly did not expect them to be this bad! Take care William!
I used the blank seed pods to fill the holes
Thanks for the tip!
Aerogarden website states that tomatoes are for the Bounty models. They support tall plants like tomatoes.
Thanks for the info.
Excellent.
Thank you for this! Very helpful 😊
You are welcome!
Did you have to pollinate the flowers yourself?
The reaction to the taste of the tomato is so funny
😆
A 'DIY" alternative for this kind of system seems more useful and versatile to me, even if it means using some dirt. :)
I've had some peppers and cherry tomatoes on my windowsill in my balcony and for some reason, despite knowing the importance of bees, it has never once crossed my mind to do the pollination with a brush!
Take care!
Good job , excellent review.
Thank you!
Use a turkey baster to pull the old water and fill with a watering can or cup!
Thanks for the tips!
i was thinkn. about getn. one..the vid. was good! thx!! good info!!!
Thanks for watching!
Pretty cool kit all-in-all. 👍
Yeah- I'll be using to grow lettuce & herbs through the winter months... I'm pretty happy with it for growing those types of plants. I think for a beginner, this would be a fun way to kind of get them hooked on growing their own.
What color is this unit?
It's the platinum-stainless color option
Thank you for this video! I was thinking about buying an Aerogarden or similar and definitely will stay away from it ;-)
From what I've seen so far, if you just want to grow lettuce, greens or herbs, the Aerogarden works just fine. But for tomatoes and peppers I'm having much better results growing them in pots under a good quality grow-light indoors. If you want to grow them hydroponically, it sounds like building your own hydro setup for tomatoes is a better way to go-- though I've not had a chance to try that yet. Take care, Omar!
Keep sharing Jenna.thanks..Godbless staysafe and healthy
Thank you! You stay safe & healthy as well!
I used to use duct tape to cover my extra holes but the AG covers are only $7 for 25 so it's worth just buying them.
Great advice- thank you
Interesting grow kit. I like to get my hands in the dirt so hydroponic gardening is not for me. I enjoyed your video, thanks for sharing.
I just tried my very first AeroGarden Tiny Tim tomato.
I am also disappointed, they are very bland.
I'm sorry to hear that!
Tiny Tim tomatoes are great for AG

YOU control how long the light is on and when.
looks like either u forget to change nutrients ,or too much nutrients cause of the burning leafs the tomatos so not look healthy plants
I followed the Aerogarden's instructions to a T- so if that is the case they should tweak their instructions as other will have this same problem
@@GrowfullywithJenna i added a mini pump to mind and its very healthy and strong ,no burning and i used 3 cap of the nutrients and replace it every 14 days and add water every 3-4 days

Tomato and pepper are self pollinating
Seriously? For the cost of the Aero ($119 CDN black Friday at bb and beyond) just go buy organic produce. Use a garden or pot based growing in the spring through fall.
That's one way to do it!
