Nice job! You nailed the vibe 100% Hard topic that start many discussions. The key is the Greenback Speaker... i have 1998 Marshall 1960ax with Greenbacks and it really "Burn your Eyes" if you play a 5150 with it. About the Wah.. actually i think it is a electric mistress deluxe early in the chain Rob uses most of the time. Should work with any flanger in some sort even before the overdrive. But damn your quick Riffing nailed the early Style perfectly! Happy New Year!
@@EugeValovirta230V Just like you said, the Playing is a huge part. Robb really shines in his riffing on the details of a "simple" groovy riff. Just an Idea: I would love you to try the recent approach of Behemoths Sound since "The Satanist". It is also a low and high gain Amp together. For me they really created something special there in the last 10 years that stood out of the 5150+V30 Mass.
The More Things Change album has the best production of any MH album in my opinion. The way those guitars are dialed in and blended into the mix.. perfect.
Wow! Machine Head is a band that I watched on a barely underground tv local channel here in Spain (canal 28, Basa Rock) and next day I went to buy the album. MH is the only one that I played from first to last without bored or jumped any song. 🤘
I was 19 in 1994 when I heard Burn My Eyes for the first time. It blew me away. Strangely enough, that was the only Machine Head album I listened to. They must have captured some kind of zeitgeist with their post-thrash groove metal.
I still blast the first three MH records regularly especially when I’m at the gym. I saw Machine Head open for Slayer and Biohazard at The Shrine in Los Angeles in 1995. One of the most violent shows I’ve been to other than Pantera shows in the 90’s.
It´s quite clear to me that even if I got some fancy amps, cabs and mic´s and software, that I can not record and mix to get good results like you can, the answer is simple, you know your stuff, I don't. That´s why this sounds totally awesome.. :D
You absolutely can, it's just going to take a bit of practice. The good thing is that there are so many great tutorial videos on TH-cam you can get the right info and learn pretty quickly.
There's all these little things that are part of the big picture, it makes it so fucking difficult to get something to sound right. So much to learn. Just keep at it man.
"Burn My Eyes" is DAMN good!! And the song you created sounds sick, man! 🤘🤘 Weren't you using SSL's Channel 2 before switching to 4K E? Is the new one much better?
Great demonstration and sick playing as always.I got a BOSS DS1 because of your videos and you can basicaly make any Marshall sound tight and HEVI !!!I've read somewhere that They used a 57 and a 421 with the 421 being a bit louder than the 57.?
Gear wise you nailed it man, awesome. A lot of their "sound" is also coming from the weird inbetween 1/4 step tunings. Like their drop B is actually inbetween drop B and drop C, where your( in my case boss tuner) tuner needle is cannot choose between B/C. Same for their C sharp standard tuning which is inbetween D standard and C sharp standard.
432 hz tuning instead of standard 440. Your Boss can't read that. A cheap simple acoustic guitar tuner will be the solution. Later MH tuned to drop B 444hz.
Great conclusion at the end ! I would say practice your playing, but also tweaking tones and making the most out of the gear you already have, instead of buying new shiny toys and expect it to sound amazing suddenly by magic.
Terve! Superb sounds and playing, Euge! But I dare to disagree with your "the sound is all in the hands" opinion. You're stating that while you are playing through the actual "state-of-THAT-art" equipment and no virtual plug-in emulations. In my experience and opinion, it makes a whole lot of difference whether the first "break-up" happens analog or digital: Apart from the recent UAFX Lion "digital amp in a box", my hands always had a hard time delivering without an analog overdrive, meaning my hands have a hard time digging through some "too well-rounded - transient-free - digital emulation of an amp. It works somehow, but not in the way I would like it to happen, some sort of hand-ear-feeling coordination and dependence. So while the sound is also in the hands, it's also in the equipment we are using.
Thanks! I agree with you that the response & feel with digital stuff just isn’t the same. But soundwise, at least in my experience, it’s just like with analog gear; you play tight & good you sound tight & good, you play sloppy & bad you sound sloppy & bad 😎. And I agree with you about the Lion; I had a change to try it out a while ago and it felt really good and realistic. And sounded too 😎.
I was in the band from 2010-2017 and me & Niklas wrote most of the songs during that time. Niklas also wrote songs just by himself during that time and he is, and has been, the main mastermind / songwriter and/since he is the founder of the band. He writes, and has written, all lyrics.
7:10 ... level LEGEND 😁🤘
I kinda wish they kept Logan and Kontos on after the reunion to finish off their MH career... The sound they have with those guys is just legendary...
Absolutely
I'm pretty sure that Robb tried but at least Logan wasn't in to it...
Indeed.
@@billk9799no he didn’t, exs are exs for a reason, it was nice for a visit but none of them wanted to live in that space.
@@billk9799Don’t blame Logan…he didn’t want to dress up as a clown every night on stage 😂🤡
I love those first two MH albums. Still some of the heaviest shit around. You absolutely nailed that tone, both guitars and bass.
Likewise 💪. Thanks!
First 2 albums are definitely the best!🤘🏻
Burn My Eyes is insane. Great track. Great tones. Love your deep dives on these bands sounds
Personnally I prefer the later albums like Through the ashes, Blackening and Locust. Basically the Phil Demmel era
@@RemiBusseuil definitely awesome records as well!!
Yeah! Really glad to hear thanks!

There was no greenback speaker on this. It was a Marshall BV cabinet with Marshall celestion vintage speakers ( and no, they ain’t the same as v30s)
Burn my eyes was a big hit in England in the 90's. I think this caught everyone, especially the band, by suprise.
In Finland too 🤟.
Amazing video, you make it look effortless but we all know that there is a huge amount of work behind this!
Thanks!

Nice to see the old ESP headshape, the Jackson like "lawsuits knife" that makes Fender angry. I own a 1988 Horizon Custom with such a head. Love it.

Sounds about right 😎.
