      @@tedzeiller2711 There's nothing wrong with pick scrapes, they're a neat technique. The joke is Gojira uses a *bunch* of pick scrapes (as well as tapping) in their music, so not including them in a Gojira demo video is odd.

    Hey Ola, Joe definitely used a 6505 on From Mars to Sirius, but I believe TWOAF was a Jackson SLSMG with JB, a 5150 III, and Joe said a single SM57 on the cab (uncertain of what cab) but I don't believe any boosts were used. A Line 6 POD was used for all the cool sound effects like the reverse delay between tracks and what not.
    Logan Mader said he thinks it was a 5150 III, BUT he was not the guitar engineer - Joe was. In his home studio. In France.
    ONLY HE KNOWS THE TRUTH.

      But I would disagree.

      It’s a Mesa Boogie DC-5 and maybe some boost for 1999-2000; it’s not known what he used for Iowa, maybe a Mesa Boogie of some sort, maybe Mick’s amp since he used some of Mick’s guitars to track the album as well; Rivera Knucklehead Reverb with 6L6 tubes for Vol.3; Orange Rockerverb MK1 for All Hope Is Gone and The Gray Chapter, though it’s reputed he blended a Diezel Herbert with the Rockerverb. EMG 81 in all guitars for every album, a mix of Fender and Gibsons.

    Fun fact about that riff from TWoAF he actually does the harmonic "whammy bar" bends by bending the neck and not with a whammy bar!
    Also for this song and for two others in that album they tune the three high strings a tone down making an open C minor chord

    Hey Ola, what do you think of a Harley Benton vintage 212 with a peavey 6505+

    • @definitelynotgore
      @definitelynotgore 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Rubin Liggin Should sound great, Peavey’s and Vintage 30’s have always paired extremely well.

    • @themightymcb7310
      @themightymcb7310 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    • @definitelynotgore
      @definitelynotgore 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Jake McB Go for the EVH 5150iii LBX instead.

    • @themightymcb7310
      @themightymcb7310 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Kvlt Goat Why? The EVH has less tone control options, a lower wattage, fewer attenuation options, and is more expensive than the Peavey by $200. Unless it sounds $200 better, I don't think that the EVH will be the amp for me

    • @definitelynotgore
      @definitelynotgore 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Jake McB Except it does sound $200 better lol, I don’t know what they were doing when they made the 6505MH but it doesn’t sound nearly as good as it’s older brothers.
      If you’re playing metal, the EVH will be ready to slay right out of the box WITHOUT pedals (the 6505MH needs to be heavily shaped with pedals to not sound like a muddy mess).

  • @ThorsShadow
    @ThorsShadow 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I agree with your point, of the actual guitar tone itself not sounding that tight. In my opinion it's the fact, that the Gojira guys just play so fucking tight (in the studio AND live), that makes their songs sound so damn tight and on point. Their muting is just insane. XD

  • @pabloruiz1982
    @pabloruiz1982 6 ปีที่แล้ว +10

    You should try your friend' s James Hetfield Snakebyte guitar with EMG JH pickups, and try to find Hetfields tone.

    • @Bru741iX
      @Bru741iX 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Which of the "Hetfield" tones? Kill em all?
      AJFA?
      Black Album?
      Wont bother asking about recent albums, because Metallica stopped having a good guitar sound after The Black Album.
