I really liked Otto in this episode, probably for the first time ever. And I'm glad that we were shown his wise side. He was the right Hand of two kings who managed to maintain peace and rule wisely. And this was largely thanks to Otto. But in the end, his time passed, and he took on his soul a sin for which the royal family will pay on both sides. And of course, thank that they FINALLY mentioned Daeron, who should have appeared in season 1, so as not to shock the audience now, but we have what we have... P.s. Aegon played by Tom Glynn-Carney turned out great. There is simply no more controversial character in the series. He literally drives you crazy, goes from hate to love and in circles.

Criston really pissed me off. I was angry over his nerve to blame the twin. I'm prior service and I get that it's not quite the same as being a knight, but it has some similarities. All I know that if a leader tried to pin something on me like that, I probably would've flipped out on them because of the bs. I never really got in trouble but I wasn't on board wiyh scapegoated. Criston would of raised my adrenaline and I would have been shaking trying my hardest not to punch him in the face.

In the book Daemon was rumored to have done countless of disgusting, terrible things but what made up for his darkness and evil was the love and respect he had for his family. Unfortunately it seems the writers in the show are struggling to depict a morally grey character and they are making him out to be worse than he actually was when it regards his family and Rhaenyra. They took away the main characteristic of him that made him gray, affection and devotion for his family and for those he loves (the choking and how he acted towards his daughters). He couldn’t kill Rhea Royce in the book, and he never appeared at Rhaenyra wedding to try to stop her from marrying and almost making out with her. They made Rhaenys responsible for killing dozens of innocents. Also, the Greens' action is based on mistakes and accidents, it even seems that the characters have no control over their own destiny. Like show made it seem as if Aemond's actions were unintentional, about murdering Luke, whereas the book implies the opposite. They made Alicent more sympathetic in the show too. Besides the people that "wrote" the book are green biased. It's ironic, thanks to Blood and Cheese, Aegon is in the same position his father was in. An ambitious, unpredictable, younger brother, and only a girl as his heir. You can see why Otto wanted this type of arrangement, but unlike Viserys, Aegon isn't so easily manipulated in his anger. Considering everyone's reaction to Criston Cole, it becomes more and more apparent in the book why Barristan Selmy spoke so ill of him as a member of the Kings guard.
After that conversation between Erryk and Daemon in Ep 1 about honoring his vows, I had a feeling he was going to die. The real ones with honor are the first to die in this world.

I agree it's a awful thing to do, nor do I agree. It's an evil act. But evil in general is so vast a concept that everyone and anyone tend to misinterpret. Once you fork up an entire track record that dates your whole entire life full of evil acts, you get qualified as evil. It's more muddled when your life is mixed between evil and good actions. Double so for the fact that he was written TO be the most Grey character outside of Jamie. He does evil things, but also has the ability to do good. Without spoiling I won't say more.
Would also really appreciate the sound being mixed slightly better. The show is so quiet, but the laughs are like breaking the speaker it’s so fkcn loud. Then I can hardly hear the show
I'm pro Green because it's clear to me that the realm simply didn't want a woman as queen. Jaehaerys is often looked back at as a golden example of a king, one of the best kings that Targeryens ever produced and he was of the belief that the realm wouldn't accept a Queen Regnant. He and Alysanne actually had a falling out over it. But when put to the lords to decide, at the great council it was like 20 to 1 no girls (I know it was more complicated than that was really Laenor v Viserys) but the implication was clear. Rhaenyra also went about being the first female heir apparent in a manner that was less than ideal. She fathered 3 bastards (I'm ignoring everyone who argues that this isn't the case there's always one) and was happy to have killed or maimed anyone who pointed this out and named one of those bastards heir to the throne. That's very much a slap in the face to the ones in the realm who already have an issue with a woman on the throne (doesn't matter in terms of blood though because whoever the father they were definitely going to be Targaryen) basically fomenting the grounds for a civil war Additionally while they acted crazy after the war started, anyone who's even slightly aware of the word realpolitik knows that Rhaenyra's best bet was to come up with some reason to kill her half brothers as threats to her throne. The only thing that stopped her from torturing Aemond for calling her boys Strongs was that she didn't yet have the crown. On the other hand Aegon didn't even want the crown (I know many don't believe this but I don't see too much of a reason not to) and drank and whored a lot. Aemond is exactly as bad as Daemon to me. I personally hate Daemon more, disliked him ever since his "heir for a day" comment. Daemon's definitely smarter though. I also don't recall the Hightowers doing anything particularly slimy, sure Otto had spies and acted in his self interest as much as the realms (if not more so arguably) but I've yet to see an intelligent character who doesn't do that and unlike Rhaenyra his ambitions aligned with the overall wishes of the realm.

Another very good episode. Y do I feel more people r more upset with criston in this episode over daemon who literally had a child killed? U guys smirk and laugh at daemon just smiling when he hears the news of the child death and then u say criston is ur most hated character? It makes no sense. Ive been saying this for the longest daemon and Otto r two side of the same coin. They are upset with their kings and queens because neither listen to them, they both want to be in control, and when they not in control they both over step. They only difference between them is that they use different tools to attack their enemies. Daemon uses the blade and otto has his tongue.
14:30 If you'll remember, in the immediate aftermath of Viserys's death, Otto wanted the twins to get Aegon out of the city walls and meet him there. That always struck me as odd. Like, you'd think it'd be safer in King's Landing and the Red Keep, right? My theory is that his intention was to kill Aegon, blame it on the White Worm, and install Aemond as king instead.
That is a completely harebrained theory with absolutely no evidence for it. Otto may be an ambitious asshole, but there is nothing to ever suggest that he would consider ever going as far as murdering his eldest grandson and in his mind, the rightful king. The whole point was that Otto and Alicent were competing who would get to Aegon first and thus could guide them however they saw fit and decide how Aegon's coronation would happen. It would be counterproductive for Otto to find him and then just bring him to the keep to Alicent's reach. He most likely wanted to hide Aegon outside the city, out of the reach of anyone else for a while, so Otto could prepare him and the nobility for Aegon to usurp the throne, while keeping Viserys' death a secret. Instead Criston and Aemond got to Aegon first and Alicent decided to crown him immediately.

I agree it's a awful thing to do, nor do I agree. It's an evil act. But evil in general is so vast a concept that everyone and anyone tend to misinterpret. Once you fork up an entire track record that dates your whole entire life full of evil acts, you get qualified as evil. It's more muddled when your life is mixed between evil and good actions. Double so for the fact that he was written TO be the most Grey character outside of Jamie. He does evil things, but also has the ability to do good. Without spoiling I won't say more.

Because I know the outcome of the story, i'm just in it for the dragons.
I'm pro Green because it's clear to me that the realm simply didn't want a woman as queen.
Jaehaerys is often looked back at as a golden example of a king, one of the best kings that Targeryens ever produced and he was of the belief that the realm wouldn't accept a Queen Regnant.
He and Alysanne actually had a falling out over it.
But when put to the lords to decide, at the great council it was like 20 to 1 no girls (I know it was more complicated than that was really Laenor v Viserys) but the implication was clear.
Rhaenyra also went about being the first female heir apparent in a manner that was less than ideal.
She fathered 3 bastards (I'm ignoring everyone who argues that this isn't the case there's always one) and was happy to have killed or maimed anyone who pointed this out and named one of those bastards heir to the throne.
That's very much a slap in the face to the ones in the realm who already have an issue with a woman on the throne (doesn't matter in terms of blood though because whoever the father they were definitely going to be Targaryen) basically fomenting the grounds for a civil war
Additionally while they acted crazy after the war started, anyone who's even slightly aware of the word realpolitik knows that Rhaenyra's best bet was to come up with some reason to kill her half brothers as threats to her throne.
The only thing that stopped her from torturing Aemond for calling her boys Strongs was that she didn't yet have the crown.
On the other hand Aegon didn't even want the crown (I know many don't believe this but I don't see too much of a reason not to) and drank and whored a lot.
Aemond is exactly as bad as Daemon to me. I personally hate Daemon more, disliked him ever since his "heir for a day" comment. Daemon's definitely smarter though.
I also don't recall the Hightowers doing anything particularly slimy, sure Otto had spies and acted in his self interest as much as the realms (if not more so arguably) but I've yet to see an intelligent character who doesn't do that and unlike Rhaenyra his ambitions aligned with the overall wishes of the realm.

The Queen s atitude is also result of inbreeding where some people end up having predictions powers and very critical interpretations of reality. I would compare her as someone onthe spectrum, her expressions are not as dramatic as everyone else but it doesn't mean they don't care. They just act differently. Also she asked if the boy didn't want to be a king, and I feel like was part of her strategy.

Ive been saying this for the longest daemon and Otto r two side of the same coin. They are upset with their kings and queens because neither listen to them, they both want to be in control, and when they not in control they both over step.
They only difference between them is that they use different tools to attack their enemies. Daemon uses the blade and otto has his tongue.

14:30 If you'll remember, in the immediate aftermath of Viserys's death, Otto wanted the twins to get Aegon out of the city walls and meet him there. That always struck me as odd. Like, you'd think it'd be safer in King's Landing and the Red Keep, right? My theory is that his intention was to kill Aegon, blame it on the White Worm, and install Aemond as king instead.
That is a completely harebrained theory with absolutely no evidence for it. Otto may be an ambitious asshole, but there is nothing to ever suggest that he would consider ever going as far as murdering his eldest grandson and in his mind, the rightful king.
The whole point was that Otto and Alicent were competing who would get to Aegon first and thus could guide them however they saw fit and decide how Aegon's coronation would happen. It would be counterproductive for Otto to find him and then just bring him to the keep to Alicent's reach.
He most likely wanted to hide Aegon outside the city, out of the reach of anyone else for a while, so Otto could prepare him and the nobility for Aegon to usurp the throne, while keeping Viserys' death a secret. Instead Criston and Aemond got to Aegon first and Alicent decided to crown him immediately.
