- Upon their release in 2022, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet were mildly criticized for now having any actual evil villains like previous generations. But that's not entirely accurate. What if I told you that, not only do Scarlet and Violet have an evil villain working in the shadows to bring down Paldea, but also that this antagonist may even lead to future DLC in Fall 2024?!

Something I would like to note is that this theory also lines up shockingly close to the story and lore of pecharunt. Pecharunt Al’s poison mochi has the side affect of drawing out someone’s greedy desires, and it too is a ghost type lining up with Ryme’s comment. Maybe she ran into Pecharunt at some point and became hexed by its mochi, causing her to steal treasure to satisfy her greed.
Omg, I hate that I wrote this script before Mochi Mayhem came out. That would have been the *BEST* bow to tie this video up with!
The only push back I would give for Pecharunt being the one behind Raifort's actions is that A) Pecharunt was inactive in Kitakami while Raifort was in Paldea, and B) The dialogue between Raifort and Ryme I captured took place aftter Pecharunt had already been defeated and the spell had been broken.
Other than that, Pecharunt would've been an unbelievably great conclusion!

FINALLY, SOMEONE ELSE SEES IT! I've been screaming that Raifort is evil since these games came out! I think she's not straight up controlled. She wants Paldea to fall because she wants modern to become past. She wants to create the chaos and ruin that she so clearly loves studying. If given half a chance, she'd definitely wipe out most of Paldea, though she might let the academy stand: if she could get rid of the most recent addition to the architecture of course.
I like that angle, too! I probably would've went that direction had Ryme not mentioned ghost possession! I absolutely would love a DLC that focuses on the Treasures of Ruin and Raifort!
Well done! I think a neat plot for a DLC quest would be being sent back in time to when the Treasures of Ruin wreaked havoc across Paldea, and being tasked with defeating them, only for them to be forcefully sealed away by the corrupt king, who's depicted as the ancestor of a character we know. Perhaps Nemona or Raifort herself.
I agree wholeheartedly! I recently suggested to DustyGogoat that a great game would be a Legends Arceus style game where you are summoned by the Paldean King to take down the Treasures of Ruin one by one
Originally I assumed Geeta was the bad guy but everything about Raifort is so mysterious. I may not have seen Horizons yet but if she’s in the anime I hope she ends up being the true villain during a certain arc
I think we all wanted Geeta to be the villain, but it wasn't meant to be. I know there's a short clip of Raifort in the anime but idk if we'll get a full story with her. That would be awesome though

I LOVE Raifort... I really get into ancient mysticism and can truly relate with her. The "evil" undertones are stereotypical of ancient/occult presentations. Leave my sugar momma alone and May the Champion Spirit be with you.

Maybe I'm wrong, but Raifort's been my favorite since I started the game for the same reasons, and she still comes off more "evil"-y than normal.
IMO, I'd think that she wants the Ruin quartet to study them, or to use on her team to have an advantage over others. Obviously she is incredibly interested in them, so it makes sense.
The other bits implying that she is a thief, I think work out well, so headcanon, I think she was just sort of a tomb raider or petty thief and then got hired by Clavell, and then SEPARATELY she just wants to study the Ruin quartet. Not entirely evil ;D
@razdahooman I agree! It's just hard to ignore that Ryme saw a ghost hexing her, maybe it was Gengar! I definitely would love to see TPC expand on Raifort though!
I am kinda curious about how some of the students and staffs of naranja/uva academy will react if they found out that raifort was secretly evil all this time
It's honestly hard to say. I was hoping Raifort would have more special dialogue with the other teachers and gym leaders
I love Raifort she's a great character, she's the type of character that would absolutely be the end game villain. I both love and hate that she's not the villain in the end. On one hand it's great to have more complex characters that aren't relevant to the main story to make the world richer and more interesting. On the other hand I like having big bad villains, and it feels like there's so much more to expand on and explore with Raifort and I wanna know it all! Perhaps she'll be the villain in a later game though.
I think it's genuinely possible that GF and TPC set SV up in such a way there they could either make a second DLC after Hidden Treasure came out or not, depending on the sales of the first DLC. Kinda like how SV has a ton of Easter Eggs to both Unova and Johto so they could pivot between a Johto or Unova remake depending on where the fans were at. I think they left enough clues that Riafort COULD be a DLC villain, but since she is a background character, they could choose to ignore it and not do another DLC. I love having these conversations.
@@EliteTrainerKenway It's a perfect set up! Even if they already decided on a Unova/Johto game on day 1 I'm glad they aren't making it too obvious and are giving clues and references to different regions too.

I think pokemon is entering a phase where they are gonna stop dropping hints to multiple projects with every new game so that they can pivot when they need to. It gives us fans a way to get excited about what's likely gonna be next!

Since you asked, my bets on who hexed her was probably the owner of the tomb rather than a Pokemon itself. ScVi may have had it's technical problems, but I love the story and characters so much, I'm not ready for it to end. 😢
I almost did this video when the games first came out, then I shelved it and just never got around to doing it. When I found out Raifort was able to come to Blueberry and have special dialogue with other coaches, I knew I had to check every one of them! 😁

I had another thought. Remember the reveal trailer for Gimmighoul? The one where the Gimmighoul hexes a little girl to gather 999 gold coins for it? What if it was Gimmighoul that hexed her, but something went wrong where instead of her seeking out gold coins, she is now hexed to seek out treasure in general, including a certain quartet? That would definitely explain why she trades you a Gimmighoul instead of a lower evolution of one of her own pokemon. She never ended up finding the 999 coins because she was searching for other treasure. Cause, I mean, why else would Gholdengo NOT be her ace? What better partner for a grave-robber than a ghost type who's literally made of gold?!
Also, kind of unrelated but maybe not, I think she could have been a Hex Maniac when she was younger. I mean, besides her skin tone, her hair and eye colour match perfectly. Either that or maybe a relative of Acerola? Would explain all the Alola relics...

After watching a few theories about Raifort, I've come to the startling realization that it is heavily implied that she is the former Paldean king's ancestor (or wife, but I'm still stewing on that one since it involves immortality or time travel). In her history class, she talks about how the former greedy king showered a merchant in gold coins for the 4 treasures of ruin. The chests of Gimmighoul can be found in the ruins and towers scattered around Paldea, which seem to be the ruins of that kingdom. This leads me to believe that the king's hoarded chests of gold coins eventually became the Pokemon Gimmighoul.
Raifort is constantly hounding you about the treasures of ruin, almost obsessively. And when she finally trades you a Pokemon in the League Club Room, what does she give you?
... a freaking Gimmighoul.
I was suspicious of raifort for a while now and I was surprised that the devs at game freak didn't expand on this much during the dlc since I had a feeling she would be tied to the trip that happens in teal mask and would also be tied to indigo disk
so the fact they didn't give much for her in the dlc other than the stuff inside indigo disk is suspicious and I now assume she'll have importance in the future
I think thenplan might have been to give her some lore in case they wanted to do another DLC, but not have her front and center, in case they (didn't make enough in sales on the first dlc and) chose not to

The professor counts as a villain I think. Their intentions may have not been malicious, but they were still willing to kill anyone interfering with their goal.
Overall they're more insane than evil, but they potentially endangered Paldea.

@@EliteTrainerKenway The real professor. The AI was forced to attack because of its programming, and did what it could to shut down the machine.
With how normal they seemed when you meet at Kitakami. As well as The AI, a copy of their mind, not understanding their reasoning. I'm pretty sure they completely snapped sometime after finishing their assistant. Why exactly? Not sure.
If this were in a Spin Off with Ranger or Coliseum/XD Style game, Raifort would certainly have taken the Treasures from the Player by force, either stealing secretly or calling the player asking to bring the 4 Treasures so she can examine them calmly in a secret location of hers and when the player arrives there with the 4 in the Party she would knock out the Player and catch them, then Clavel would probably show up to explain things and start a Guest about it, this would definitely happen in a Coliseum/XD game , I think the “activation condition” of the event would be to have the 3 conversations with her at BBA and make the exchange with her, then I would just fly somewhere and she would call.
I particularly love who in Orre is in Ranger not all conflicts are resolved with Pokémon Battle, use of brute force, traps, explosives or simply blocking a door or path so the Player cannot progress, this makes games much more realistic or at least shows that the villains are smart enough to use any tactic to achieve their goals without limiting themselves to just battle or having to follow “laws” or rules.
So, a second dlc titled the scourge of the treasures of ruin?

@@EliteTrainerKenway Yeah, I heard that, initially, Raifort was gonna be revealed to be an international criminal. I am hoping they utilize that plot point in gen 10 (especially if gen 10's region is based on China, South Korea, or India), similar to how SM brought in stuff that was scrapped from XY

Well, at least we have Drayton he clearly was evil. He just was lazy he used the player to torrment Kierain. I agree it would have been better if Kieran doubled down on being evil. He probally still views pokémon as tools. Maybe he is just biding time. Would, be interesting if he only gets close to steal Ogerpon & Terappgos.
Image they make a third game where after you do her quest and stop the mochi mayham, you get a extra side story that had you helping her once more and she straight up turn on you as your looking for legend. She took your team you brought, which is mandotory to have the Ruin Pokemons, she use them agsaisnt you using some sort of energy.
And depnding on your friend ship oints you have, would makr it easier to break free from her control.
