- Arkansas runner Joe Falcon beats a loaded field with a 3:58.06, enough to edge Olympian Peter Rono, as well as future Mile champion Robert Whelan of Kentucky and Frank Conway of Providence. This was Joe Falcon's second Mile championship at the NCAA indoor track and field championship. He won the mile in 1988 and 1989.

Something about watching athletes from many decades prior makes me super anxious and fluttery.
The guy who won can run 3.52 or faster outdoors.
He ran 3:49 in 1990! 1990 Dream Mile, it’s actually on TH-cam.
Dang pretty darn fast. If he would of ran professional y he would have the American record.
@@trinidadrodriquez876 He did run professionally. I remember seeing some of his 1991 training and I think it was too much because 100 mile weeks were too much. It was strange at the elite level to race 10,000 meters and then 800 meters before the 1991 1500 nationals (to me). He fell in the 1992 Olympic Trials. You can search his name for a few other races that are on YT or other places.
