A Quick Rundown of the 754* movement. The 7 denotes it's Automatic Couzin in the 7000 caliber. By that Argument the 7s26 calibre has the same chasis as the 7546/8/9/50 and the 7c43 and 7c46 QUARTZ. The 5 means it has 5 jewels. Now the ××46 was used in dress watches, the ××48 was in divers watches and the ××49 was used in the TUNA. The differences are ××46 had the crown at 3'0clock and it also never had a Battery Strap - the caseback held the battery down in place. The ××48 had the crown at 4'0clock while the ××49 had the date at 3:45. Meaning the day/date wheels were different. Now the 7550 was Dateless and was used only in RAILROAD WATCHES. *The reason why I did this is to help the next guy when finding these movement. Meaning: if your 7548/9 is broke instead of spending $200 to repair buy a crappy $30 7546 dress watch and harvest the movement and swap out the day and date wheels. *The 7c43 and 7c46 is crap as its made out of plastic and cost cutting materials and parts. Also, since these 754* and 7c43/6 QUARTZ are based on the 7 series Automatic movement the crown stem will fit perfectly. Meaning: you can easily build your own TUNA or 7548 by buying the SKX Case for $40 from Ebay or Ali Express buy a 7546 dress watch from eBay $40-50 bux and build you an iconic timepiece. Same for the TUNA. Rdunae makes great Tuna cases with Saphire crystal and Ceramic insert. All in all, I love the 7548 over the SKX. It's well build. Thanks Felix
I have 3 7548’s - Pepsi, black and orange dial. Love them so much! I’m also in Australia (Hunter Calley NSW). I’d recommend sending it to Vintage Time Australia for an overhaul. I’ve sent a few vintage Seiko watches down to him and he has all the original parts to repair them properly.
These originally came on a Z199 bracelet. The Pepsi 7000, 700B and 700F came on a GL831 rubber strap. Uncle Seiko do both the Z and GL repros and are top quality. A good condition original Z199 will cost several hundred USD now. I have a 700B Pepsi since 2019 now. 1983 and keeps abt 1 sec per month. Was serviced in 2018 and cost 450usd. Best regards.
Wow thanks for all these knowledge you are a true Seiko fan, thanks again. I am surprised an old bracelet will fetch that much money? Yes the full service here with qualified specially will cost around $400 US.
Gaps in the bezel are for a spring loaded ball bearing. It doesn't have a click spring. I wish there was a countdown bezel insert like on some rare 6159s, it would be perfect on this one. I got mine few weeks ago for 500$ in excellent condition. It's now being serviced because it was gaining a second every 3 days. I never wanted to "collect" watches so I had a one watch only rule. This one changed it to 3. I intend to wear it as my main daily watch along with King Turtle and looking to pair it with a vintage King Seiko or Lord Marvel for a 3 watch collection.
Thanks for the sharing mate l learned something new from you. Great pick up on the 7548 congrats. Gaining 1 second in 3 days would make it 10 seconds faster a month? Doesn’t sound that bad? I am sure a service will bring the best out of it. Great trio of watches, best of luck with your journey.
@@Felix_love_watches_EDCs I was suprised how difficult it was to find a watchmaker with a quartz tester in Czech republic. Also still torn on whether to do a re-lume and crystal swap to sapphire.
@@JohnyPhate I am sure it will turn out great both ways. I got quoted by a local reputable Seiko vintage repairer, cost around $320 US to do a full service on it. But I like the condition as it is now, feels perfect for a 40 years old watch.
Fun fact: The 7548 is the watch worn by Brian May in their 86 Magic tour. This is one of the reasons why I like Seiko, their watches not just only tell time but they carry their history and heritage as well.
Well that’s amazing to know! Thanks mate. What I wonder is Artists such as Brain surely had enough financial means to purchase any watches back in the days and probably given a dozen of high end time pieces. And yet he chose 7548.
@@drbobsnightmare2521 Seiko used to do sixty click bidirectional bezels back in the days. For example my vintage Arnie H558-500a has a spring ball and rotation is done at every minute interval, so that is 60 clicks. And believe me the feel and feedback is better than the new 120 click bezels.
Love my SKX009! I still consider getting an SKX007 as well to mod. I'd keep my 009 original though apart from the crystal I already replaced. What are your thoughts on modded seikos? I'd be nice to have a video on it if you haven't made one already. Cheers!
Modded watch are excellent mate, if they done well then really they are arts! Yeah would love to do a video on it :) I haven’t personally modded any SKX but would learned more about it. Thanks for the comments and staying around cheers.

Right. He has a 7548-7010 200m bought new in 1985. There's an article on it by a UK Seiko specialist. Duncan something...

I've never seen a sixty click bezel that has alignment issues.
It also has a better action and feedback. And as always thumbs up for the video !
