I don't understand comparing a 1980s iconic watch with a 2000 iconic watch. My 7548 from 1978 still runs great ! would a 40yo vehicle perform as well as a new one ?

If you send the Seiko 7548 which is a Quartz movement to Seiko repair, in New Jersey USA they will completely overhaul the watch, replace all worn perts for $185.00 US dollars. Ive been sending mine out since I own it. I bought it new in 1975 !

The 7548 was available in 1975? I thought it came out 78/79? It’s a great serviceable quartz diver for sure!

7548 first released in 1978. Did you make a typo with 1975 or is your watch not a 7548?

I don't get it. You bought a vintage watch from the 80s expecting it to work and look like a watch from the 2ks?
The 7548-7000 is as iconic as it gets concerning Quartz Divers. The movement is serviceable if needed. No problem at all.
Of course, the dial and hands will show patina on a watch that is 40 years old! IMHO that gives it a lot of charme.
If yours was a running example and you got it for 120.- you made a great deal. If it was for parts only, not so much.
Hope you're happy with the SKX. Wear it in good health.
