I have the GWG-2K. The improvements over the GWG-1K are not just cosmetic: better lume; better illumination; much better LCD display; improved crown and buttons; lighter, thinner; better materials (forged carbon, SS, CCG vs plastic)

They need to add new features its so simplistic and does not provide much performance for the price. For the same price you can get a garmin fenix 6x solar that is basically a computer,fitness tracker, full map GPS and all. The garmin absolutly destroys the mudmaster in terms of functions and using it in a survival situation.

@@Michael-vf5id that's not good in a survival situation. People can track any computer. Its better not to add a computer. They should definitely make an option for a more digitalized g shock, but be aware that anything digitized is traceable.
i think that fancy vibe came mostly from color set. either 1a3 and 1a1 has silver-grey bezel or colorful rubber packing which makes them kinda weird. at least 1a5 model has matched color.
I cannot understand the negativity surrounding this watch. I think IT IS improvement since the new carbon infused body is way better than the regular resin one. It might look more blingy, but look on the bright side - it does not look that plasticky and lacks the after taste of faint cheapness the original had. I am not a fan of the Mudmaster, but even so - if I had to choose I'd got with the newer one.

I’ve been looking to get the GWG 1000 for years but I have worried about the size being too big. I have larger wrists but it still looks massive, then I found the 2000 and it looks noticeably smaller and more premium. I think I’ll be plenty happy with the 2000
As a "tough watch" the Gwg 1000 is better purely because it's easier to rebuild if you get it scuffed up. The Gwg 1000 has a one piece easily replacable bezel. The stell bezel on the Gwg 2000 is, I believe, 25 individual pieces. It is harder, more time consuming and much more expensive to replace.
I've owned the GWG1000 for quite a while now and I got to handle this new model a few days ago and I've got to say, it seems a bit more refined than the 1000 it seems fancier, if I were a new collector I would be quite happy with either of them, they are both awesome in my opinion.
Love the video. Love the channel. Can't agree not to upgrade though... I started with the GG 1000 so between the two, I went with the 2k and cannot be convinced the 1k was ever better.
Happy New Year Dude 🎉 There's a difference between the carbon core and the forged carbon fibre sections on the bezel, the carbon core is a polycarbonate, in this instance it's a mixture of carbon powder and plastic which makes it 100 times stronger than glass whereas the forged carbon fibre is a resin polymer mixed with chopped carbon fibre and forced into a mould at high heat and if over 0.8 to 1.5mm thick is 100 times stronger than steel. Both similar in compounds but very different overall.
You spoke of the lume, but not of the vastly improved light. The inability of the light to throw light on the LCD display at night ruined the older model. This improved feature alone in the new version made it worth buying - since I actually use it in the outdoors at night.

Any watch can be made to look classy. This is without doubt one of the best watches to come out of G-Shock in the last couple of years. Does everything, wear on the mountain, wear in the office, wear to a wedding, wear on the farm.
I have a gwg 1000 in green, and the gwg 2000 in black and the sand one. The only thing I hate about the gwg 2000 is the sand beige band gets stained really easily by clothing. Other than that, I love that it’s much thinner
My only G shock is a Gulfmaster. I bought a 2k yesterday and it will be here in 3 days. Ive wanted a mud master for awhile. Once i saw the 2k i had to have it.
I got a GWG-2000 Mudmaster 3 months ago which is the first one I ever got but I knew of the 1000 and prefer the look of the 2000 personally. Other than that, they both function the same.
I have both watches. They are very different. As already mentioned the lcd is larger and brighter on the new one. A huge improvement. It is also much more comfortable. Wierd though that is doesn't feel as rugged as the 1000 and the strap links in particular feel a bit weak to me. Also the city names and some of the other writing on the new face is way too small for me. I really struggle to see them which is another downside. On the plus side I got the new one cheaper than the old one and I do really like it. If I was buying now I would buy the 2000 for sure.
A watch is great.....speaking about a reliability, toughness and accuracy that thing is able to wipe up the floor with a lot of much more expensive big names. Really I don't understand why Casio had to put a negative display on the dial....positive would be perfect. That's not a Christmas tree....that's a USA sergeant army rank insignia. A watch should have more bling because on the end of a day, this is 21st century....and Casio has to adapt. Carbon reinforced plastic is just a plastic....but very durable, that's only a word, a way how to take a bit more money from the customers which Casio deserves a long time ago. A monstrous dimension of a Mudmaster is the only reason why I had a huge struggle to find a top dog Casio and luck for me I found a Protrek for a smaller wrists. That thing is worth every cent, and off course, it's much better, much nicer than GWG 1000....it's really hard to expect from Casio to make a worse watch than before. Nice video, nice watch Like

Great summary. I would add the carbon impregnated PEEK resin is much more stronger than the non carbon. This is a thing which they make a big deal about in their patent for these models. (amongst other things obviously).
I think there is small change in the movement, as the 2000 minute had updates every 5sec rather than the 10sec of the 1000. Thanks as always for your great work!
Beautiful G-Shock! I love watching it hit all the seconds markers, and the digital display in sync with that as well. Great, rugged piece. Everything you could ask for in a G-Shock!
Very happy owner of a 1000, the only thing that would interest me is the better luminosity but that's it. The digital display looks a bit easier to read but nothing to differentiate between the two. For the £550 odd it would cost can get a dress watch or a good seiko
I teach survival for a living , I personally would go for the 2000, be a use it is thinner, and less likely to be cought up on back pack straps, as you take them off, and more better for wearing long sleeves that are essential to stop sun burn and protect you from the weather.
Sticking with my 1000 and not "upgrading" to the 2000. The 2000 still looks nice but...it's not the 1000. The 1000 is the original rugged beast while the 2000 is a more gentle version. It's like the Hummer... the first Hummer was a beast and then they started making the more comfortable versions of it.

The lume u talk about on the gwg-1000 is actually even better than the 2000 depending on which models u get. If u get the 1a3 it has all the numbers and five minute indexes lumed
Yes for 15 minutes, what a shame on a 600 dollar watch, I actually have seen a 30 dollar cold led solar watch charger, I think I'll order just to see ifu battery ever reaches high charge
I would like to try this watch out at my local watch shop, before coming to any kind of conclusion. I definitely think a lot of ppl seem to right this watch off, purely because it doesn't meet their expectations of what a new generation Mudmaster watch should be.
i dont own a 1000 but when i saw the 2000 i fell in love. i cant justify the $800 price tag. maybe $500. is what i paid. i still love my gwg2000 and its my daily driver.

Your opinion on preferring the original 1000 tractor tyre look over its new SUV look, makes sense of why I'm not feeling over excited - not enough to upgrade or add to my collection. I suppose it's like any kind of upgrade, whether a car, vacuum cleaner or camera - its got to be worth the improvements and the GWG1000 is indestructible anyway …. thanks!
It is very beautiful. The old model is still competitive and have the same price basically. Casio cannot lower the price for the old model GWG 1000 because it will canibalise sales from the new one but also cannot afford keep the price up for the old model as well, nobody will buy it since there is GWG 2000 on the market already. Tricky situation. Best option to buy a GWG 1000 second hand because there are guys that will want to sell it and go for the new one.
Thanks for the comparison. I have a GG-1000-1A3DR which I'm very happy with it but definitely looking for something with a bit more for our mountain trekking trips in the Taurus Mountains. The additional barometer and altimeter will be a plus. I like both the 2000 and 1000 equally but the added ruggedness of the 1000 and better price too will take me in that direction! I wish the GWG-2000 has positive display and bluetooth connection, and maybe a way to set different light on time, like 3,5,10 sections. i find positive to be more functional as its easier to read.
I have both GWG-1000 and GWG-2000 but my GWG-2000 exactly color like you but I noticed my straps had a little bit black stain on it.. trying to wash and remove but the stain still there, do you have any idea what to use to remove the stain?
I have the GWG-1000 also. I might have considered buying the GWG-2000 too if Casio had added a bluetooth function like in the latest G-Shock Frogman. I think it was a missed opportunity.
@@ironman1080 l really would not know about that. l know that G-Shocks have been also made in Thailand, Malaysia, Korea and China. I have no issues with buying G-Shocks made elsewhere other than China because l have concerns about the quality control.
Everyone has their opinions and that’s perfect! But here’s mine: If we are to objectively compare which watch is better, to me the G2000 is the superior watch (ignoring the question if it is worth upgrading if you already have a G1000). It is lighter. The materials are subjectively better (steel bezel, forged carbon, carbon core guard), better crown, better lume and way better crown. The size and dimensions results in a much better fit for me (I know this is totally subjective and varies person to person). Overall, it’s a more refined version of the G1000. I have both watches. And to say the G2000 is somehow less tough or rugged I think is inaccurate. It is every bit as beefy, tough and “tactical” as the G1000. And to be fair to the G1000, it is a fantastic watch and I will always cherish it and will wear it often proudly! The fact that the G2000 doesn’t stray too far from the G1000 roots is a testament to how good the G1000 true was and is.

GWG 2000 is better watch than GWG 1000, because : The GWG 2000 model contains a Forged Carbon part, especially the fenders (around the numbers 12 and 6, which are the most vulnerable to damage) and fairings that give it a Premium look, and is also the first G Shock to use a Forged Carbon part. The GWG 2000 also has improved vibration resistance, then the GWG 2000 model has a reinforced case with carbon fibers (Carbon Core Guard), it is more comfortable in the hand because it is smaller and lighter than the GWG 1000 model (because of the carbon), and another advantage of the GWG 2000 model is LED lighting, which is much brighter than on the GWG 1000. The GWG 1000 does not have any advantages over the GWG 2000
I am researching the gwg 1000, gwg 2000 and the gwg b 1000 .looks like there are improvements in gwg 2000 and gwg b 1000 over the gwg 1000. How about the solar charging improvement because both the b1000 and 2000 look like they have better solar panels.
Still sporting my first of 2 GWG-1000's as daily wear while the second waits in pristine condition for the day it needs to step in... I've considered all digital G-Shocks but analog time is too ingrained and faster to read and reference for situational awareness - i.e. "Inbound @ your four O'clock" may have little meaning to those who have only lived in the digital age...
Gwg 2000 after 5x times returned. Reason? They had particles and 1 tiny hair cloth. Of course with flashlight. Now buying again and see if it is there again or not.
I really like the new look of the 2000. Actually that metal bezel makes it for me! Together with that camo-effect carbon case. As for that “Xmas tree” mode indicator…it adds character to the dial yes, but I’m still not sure if I actually like it yet 🤔 this still might be my next G-Shock mind. It’s pricey though…
I just attempted to buy a GWG-2000 from the Casio website in the UK. They are out of stock, so contacted them asking when they are going to get some more. The reply from Casio was that this model has already been discontinued. I wonder if there is any plan to update this model with a GWG-3000 at some time in the future?
I find the 2000 more comfortable. The 1000 always reminds me that I have a big watch on. Imo they did a great job improving the comfort and look. The 1000 also slides more easily under my shirt, or jacket sleeve.
I now have 4xgwg1000. I'm thinking about getting a 2000 just for the fun of it. But in my opinion it's a cheap knockoff of a gwg1000. Square module on a round watch? Carbon is maybe stronger, but not stronger on impacts. Which is important.
does GWG-2000 has Mission Log, which is enabled by holding ALT for 6 seconds? I found this feature super cool on GG-B100 and don't want to loose it upgrading Other thing I was disappointed - sunrise and sunset times are gone - this feature I also found super useful and sad to see it gone on newer models.
I want to get the GWG 2000 1A5 but it's only available on line because they don't make that model anymore, any trustable and reliable place on line you recommend to buy it?
question: does this watch have dual (GMT) time function? In other words, when I travel can I set the digital time on f.i. CET and (when I go to the USA) the analog time on US-time?
Been doing offroad adventures with the Mudmaster 1000 for ages. The only thing I need is Bluetooth connectivity for me to easily change time and world time.
Both the GWG-1000 and the GWG-2000 are fantastic watches. If you have never owned one and want to buy one, then you are lucky to be able to choose which model you prefer. Whichever one you choose, you will be happy, because like I said before… they are BOTH fantastic watches.

I have both the 1000 and the 2000 versions. The led is noticeably brighter and the digital display is more legible on the 2000.
This is what I have been waiting to hear . Those were 2 weak points on the gwg-1000 that I wanted resolved .
But if you had a 1000 would it justify purchasing another mudmaster - you're talking around £600
Right now I wouldn’t run out and pay full price for one unless it’s your first mudmaster . Im waiting for somewhat of a deal on one .

I have two G2000’s and can confirm that the minute hand still moves every ten seconds. Unlike the analog frogmans which move every 5 seconds.

It is very beautiful. The old model is still competitive and have the same price basically. Casio cannot lower the price for the old model GWG 1000 because it will canibalise sales from the new one but also cannot afford keep the price up for the old model as well, nobody will buy it since there is GWG 2000 on the market already.
Tricky situation.
Best option to buy a GWG 1000 second hand because there are guys that will want to sell it and go for the new one.
That exactly what I did purchase a gwg 1000 second hand for a very reasonable price and good condition.

Thanks for the comparison. I have a GG-1000-1A3DR which I'm very happy with it but definitely looking for something with a bit more for our mountain trekking trips in the Taurus Mountains. The additional barometer and altimeter will be a plus. I like both the 2000 and 1000 equally but the added ruggedness of the 1000 and better price too will take me in that direction! I wish the GWG-2000 has positive display and bluetooth connection, and maybe a way to set different light on time, like 3,5,10 sections. i find positive to be more functional as its easier to read.

I have both GWG-1000 and GWG-2000 but my GWG-2000 exactly color like you but I noticed my straps had a little bit black stain on it.. trying to wash and remove but the stain still there, do you have any idea what to use to remove the stain?
I have the GWG-1000 also. I might have considered buying the GWG-2000 too if Casio had added a bluetooth function like in the latest G-Shock Frogman. I think it was a missed opportunity.
The 1000 made in Japan the 2000 made in Thailand I think it’s not the same toughness as the 1000
@@ironman1080 l really would not know about that. l know that G-Shocks have been also made in Thailand, Malaysia, Korea and China. I have no issues with buying G-Shocks made elsewhere other than China because l have concerns about the quality control.
Added Bluetooth, skipped depth gauge. On a Frogman... I think Mudmaster is fine without Bluetooth, it is a standalone product.

Back again…I did decide to upgrade. The 2000 is so much nicer, well built, comfortable, brighter LED and just overall much more premium. 👌🏻

addition ... have now the Tactix 7 Pro ... and this is REAL Outdoor-Sport-Adventure watch. Garmin do what Casio wants them to look like.
Everyone has their opinions and that’s perfect! But here’s mine: If we are to objectively compare which watch is better, to me the G2000 is the superior watch (ignoring the question if it is worth upgrading if you already have a G1000). It is lighter. The materials are subjectively better (steel bezel, forged carbon, carbon core guard), better crown, better lume and way better crown. The size and dimensions results in a much better fit for me (I know this is totally subjective and varies person to person). Overall, it’s a more refined version of the G1000. I have both watches. And to say the G2000 is somehow less tough or rugged I think is inaccurate. It is every bit as beefy, tough and “tactical” as the G1000. And to be fair to the G1000, it is a fantastic watch and I will always cherish it and will wear it often proudly! The fact that the G2000 doesn’t stray too far from the G1000 roots is a testament to how good the G1000 true was and is.

GWG 2000 is better watch than GWG 1000, because :
The GWG 2000 model contains a Forged Carbon part, especially the fenders (around the numbers 12 and 6, which are the most vulnerable to damage) and fairings that give it a Premium look, and is also the first G Shock to use a Forged Carbon part. The GWG 2000 also has improved vibration resistance, then the GWG 2000 model has a reinforced case with carbon fibers (Carbon Core Guard), it is more comfortable in the hand because it is smaller and lighter than the GWG 1000 model (because of the carbon), and another advantage of the GWG 2000 model is LED lighting, which is much brighter than on the GWG 1000.
The GWG 1000 does not have any advantages over the GWG 2000
$800.00 US = $1,050.00 Canadian, pricey, but, I think as owner of other G’s, well worth the money. On my bucket list.
My only complaint on my 2000 is the plastic buckle.

I am researching the gwg 1000, gwg 2000 and the gwg b 1000 .looks like there are improvements in gwg 2000 and gwg b 1000 over the gwg 1000. How about the solar charging improvement because both the b1000 and 2000 look like they have better solar panels.
Still sporting my first of 2 GWG-1000's as daily wear while the second waits in pristine condition for the day it needs to step in... I've considered all digital G-Shocks but analog time is too ingrained and faster to read and reference for situational awareness - i.e. "Inbound @ your four O'clock" may have little meaning to those who have only lived in the digital age...
Gwg 2000 after 5x times returned. Reason? They had particles and 1 tiny hair cloth. Of course with flashlight.
Now buying again and see if it is there again or not.
I really like the new look of the 2000. Actually that metal bezel makes it for me! Together with that camo-effect carbon case. As for that “Xmas tree” mode indicator…it adds character to the dial yes, but I’m still not sure if I actually like it yet 🤔 this still might be my next G-Shock mind. It’s pricey though…

This GWG 2000 now has a steel ring bezel on top of its sapphire crystal. Do you think the bezel will be easily scratch when we bring it outdoor ?
I just attempted to buy a GWG-2000 from the Casio website in the UK. They are out of stock, so contacted them asking when they are going to get some more. The reply from Casio was that this model has already been discontinued. I wonder if there is any plan to update this model with a GWG-3000 at some time in the future?

I find the 2000 more comfortable. The 1000 always reminds me that I have a big watch on. Imo they did a great job improving the comfort and look. The 1000 also slides more easily under my shirt, or jacket sleeve.
I now have 4xgwg1000. I'm thinking about getting a 2000 just for the fun of it. But in my opinion it's a cheap knockoff of a gwg1000. Square module on a round watch? Carbon is maybe stronger, but not stronger on impacts. Which is important.

does GWG-2000 has Mission Log, which is enabled by holding ALT for 6 seconds? I found this feature super cool on GG-B100 and don't want to loose it upgrading
Other thing I was disappointed - sunrise and sunset times are gone - this feature I also found super useful and sad to see it gone on newer models.

Been doing offroad adventures with the Mudmaster 1000 for ages. The only thing I need is Bluetooth connectivity for me to easily change time and world time.
Both the GWG-1000 and the GWG-2000 are fantastic watches. If you have never owned one and want to buy one, then you are lucky to be able to choose which model you prefer. Whichever one you choose, you will be happy, because like I said before… they are BOTH fantastic watches.
