    I love your video. i like how you took the old drain pump motor apart and showed the yuk that accumulates inside. the details on every little thing is wonderful and so educational. this is so expensive to have a technician come and replace this when it isnt difficult to do yourself. Thank you for this video.

    I had used other tutorials to disassemble my washer up to where I had to remove the plate holding the pumps down. I didn't know I had to unscrew that plate at the time until finding this video (specifically this part 8:25) with a model of washer similar to mine (WM8100HVA).

    I just replaced mine as well as the recirculating pump and the shocks. I lubricated the O rings with silicone grease to create a better seal. After 7 years it seems like it is a common maintenance. Hopefully it'll last a long time.

    I really liked your video. I liked how you overcame the problems without losing your minds. This is an example of really bad design and cheap parts (but not cheap at the same time.) Looks like you can access the pump by tilting the machine back? Correct me if I am wrong?

    • @manuelarriaga2004
      @manuelarriaga2004 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      you are correct.. Tilt it up, underneath is a hole /access to remove the two screws seen at 12:08 then remove the front screw seen at 11:16 ( use screw driver to pry little bit) then the drain assembly can be pulled out under the big bottom hole/access- without removing any hoses.. replace pump then do it in opposite, the longest part is tilting the machine - quick and easy

    Before you commit to replacing the pump, there's that little drain hose in the front to empty the pump so you can pull that coin filter. Pull that hose out as far as you can, and inspect it. Mine had a hole worn clear through it, and I didn't even realize it until I was carrying the pump assembly into the kitchen to put the new one on, and it was leaking all over me and the floor. I went ahead and replaced the pump anyway since I had it out, and there were no visible signs of leakage from the pump. O-ring in good shape, no tracking, etc. Meanwhile the machine had been leaking like a sieve.
    Another place they can leak (and mine was) is the hot and cold inlet valves. Pull the two screws from the back and pop off the top panel as seen in this video. They're located inside the machine on the top rear where the hot and cold supply connects to the washer. They'll be rusty if they're leaking. Cheap even for OEM, and super easy to replace. If you're going through all this to get to the drain pump, you might as well put in new ones. It was like $60 for the set. FYI, my machine is the WM8000HVA.
    Also, thanks for the video.

    first of all - i’m hard pressed to find anything in my entire life that i relate more closely to than your video / traumatic washing machine experience .
    i was also seriously starting to believe that i was the only person in the world with those 2 hose thingys & not just one. so then began panicking that my washing machine was potentially not a washing machine at all seeing as how it didn’t work anyway & instead some secret spy device that’s sole purpose was to capture evidence of americans losing their damn mind at the hands of technology.
    thanks for having the two hose thingys & reaffirming for me that my machine is not actually a spy device at all but instead just a really big PITA.

      @@pondarosalife7790 checking back in to let you know that you are a saint, a scholar & someone’s saving grace - & today, it’s mine, as i have just finally stripped the last screw & said f it anyway , slammed the door & pushed speed wash & sure enough - it neither exploded nor imploded but rather - DRAINED INTO THE WHITE PIPE THING BEHIND IT … & i’ve never been so relieved to hear such a god awful gurgly noise as i am right now.
      i dedicate the 3+ weeks of laundry sitting on my kitchen floor that will soon smell of gain - to you.
      ps - i am jealous that when your husband just kinda hovers - he doesn’t insist on providing “better” repair “suggestions”… mine hovers , picks up my tools just to misplace them, & always has a suggestion of a “better way”…. (for me to do whatever it is i’m doing that he most certainly is not 😂)

      (pps - husband comments are jokes. & i love the support that yours so obviously gives to you & though mine does lose all important tools & falls asleep on toliet as i am holding up the roof or some other incredibly important thing… he always tells me i was right at the end of the day😂)

    People should not do a Fixit video if they don't know what they are doing.
