I run top dragster and run nitrous with methanol. The big issue is vaporization of the fuel. Alky is harder to vaporize than gas, and adding nitrous makes it worse. Best thing you can do is engine temp. I kept gaining power the hotter I had the engine. At about 190* it runs best, and works very well with the nitrous. My suggestion is don't be afraid to put some temp in the engine when running ethanol or methanol. They like temp and make best power when much hotter than gas.
This is the first time I’ve seen you or your broadcast. I definitely liked what you did and I’ll be checking you out more. I’m a 3rd generation racer and builder and I’ve done everything from stock eliminator to pro-mod. I mostly do forced induction on methanol but I love playing with nitrous. The best setups for me were always running a separate fuel system for my nitrous and using race gas in the one gallon fuel cell. Best of luck and I look forward to seeing more.
One the best drag racing videos I have ever seen. Really appreciate the tremendous effort you put in to provide us with comprehensive, accurate and detailed information.
Yes. E85 or e90 through the carb and C16 or Sunoco ProNos in the cell for the kit. It works great and is a helluva lot easier to tune because unlike "E" the race has will actually color the plugs!! Truck's definitely blowing through the converter! Not seeing much drop at all on the shift. Rollin hard though...no doubt! Can't wait to see how much better it gets.
Just now saw your video. That 400 is rocking! I didn't realize you were running AFR 210s. You are definitely right about that being too small. You should send them out to Eric Weingartner and have them ported with some bigger intakes installed. It will definitely pick up some power.
Nicely done video. I ran my s10 with n2o and E85 for a few years. Last 408” sbc went 10.40-132 n/a. 95n jet in a stinger plate it went 8.40’s 159. 3140 lbs. don’t give up on e85 in the plate. It can work.
Thanks for those tips. Mine was just stock bottom end 400 with top end mild built and My s10 with that 400 setup had a lot more power than my 350 with 305 ho heads. I’m never going with anything less than 400 cubic inches in any kind of hot rod I mess with. My truck in My yard will be getting the LS but 400 plus cubic inch. I’m going to check plugs and check timing marks on plugs thanks for showing how to set up nitrous system. Keep up educational videos.
Love old man garage channel. I have a 1987 monte carlo ss. Has a 400 inch sbc. Single plate nos system. (Omg) is copying what me and my dad build few years ago lol. So it's amazing to see the same combo (very simular) to cross compair results.
My man that was the best video by far Mr sparkles last hit was a gangster with that 60 foot time you have got that truck rolling love the combo I have my big block for my g body but I'm hoping to build a 421 if I do it's going to take along time because it's going to cost the same as my big block or more so I know what you mean about doing what you can on your budget. I really love your truck I hope I can find a really nice roller to build. Thanks for the video and sharing all the info with us. Your friend from Louisiana Rick 427
I have a 06 Silverado with stock 5.3 with just cam and Bolton, fti 3600 stall4l80e and 4.10 on a 250 only running 7.09 in 1/8 I only gain .04 in the from a 200-250 it falls on it face just before the 600 foot mark, what you it may be tighter converter more gear limit of the heads
Your right about the heat David vizzard goes over a lot of these problems in his book about building nitrous oxide engine great read fyi what you need to do is switch your oxidizer from nitrous oxide too something like nitromethane or nitropropane you’ll find alot better results and you can inject it as auxiliary fuel so you don’t have to deal with issues that running nitro all the time brings best of luck hope too see more testing!
I have a question purely out of curiosity I've never ran this stuff so I have no idea do you think it's possible to run maybe the propane and nitrous setup like they do on a diesel maybe that would put heat into the motor thanks
Boy I must be the luckiest individual on the planet because I never do that I had a 350 with 14 and a half to one I had a 400 small block with 18 to 1 and I never had any problems with overheating on the street or at the drag strip so I have no idea what you guys are talking about as long as you got them steam holes for the 400 drilled in the heads you going to be fine finding gas at the pump might be tough too
Race has in the plate with meth in carb is the best way to fly ......the cooling of the no2 is to cold and it keeps the alcohol from atomizing correctly....gas in the plate warms stuff just enough....done this for 15 yrs. In mud racing all the way to 500hp shot ....just my .02 ....
Remember that ethanol you need 30 percent more to equal the same as gas it doesn’t have the same energy get back to back runs I bet the second run is faster then the first
It'll be interesting to see the results with race gas on nx side. Bill on omg is having success so far. I get the limited budget. I'm trying to figure out which way to go this winter with my 6L LS. 94 s10 SS.
Hey Tyler I seen on your video on adjusting valves it looked like you might have a flange with studs on your heads for your headers I have afr heads on my big block is that a kit you bought or did you make it? Because the way headers always leak or you all the time have to tighten them I was thinking about studs so I don't mess up the treads but it looks like a flange maybe you have unless I'm tripping can you tell me what you have that your headers bolt to? Any help would be appreciated thanks Rick 427
You must have a real heavy truck. That engine isn't making much horsepower... That 406 should be way faster without the nitrous! Those heads shouldn't be too bad for that engine. Maybe the 227 would be better but have to have special parts to use them. I have a 66' Chevelle SS tube chassis race car with 4 passes on it. 468 big block, SV1 carb. Parts in the engine are over 30 years old, but are new. Powerglide trans, 180 low gear, 4.86 gear, race C12 race gas. Roller cam, 12.3 comp. BB-2 310 cc heads. Brodix round top intake W/turtle. Have not jetted it yet or mess with the timing. Oh! It is a four-link car. Goes 5. 62 et. at 123 mph in 1/8th. Convert that time over to 1/4mile and the car would have ran 8.82 et. at 152mph... They gave me two 1/4 passes with the 1/8 mile times. When I get to the 1/8 I get off the gas and put trans in neutral and apply brakes and coast and the car ran 9.49 et. at 104 mph. and the other pass it ran 9.50 et. at 102 mph... Pretty fast for coasting. I couldn't get a good burning for the tires because my line lock would't hold the car. Also, I haven't got to launch the car off the trans brake yet like I should, just a little off idle. The car goes straight and has no body roll. 60 ft. is 126. Once I leave off the brake the car will pickup! Quicker 60 ft's, et. and mph! Once I get car dialed in it should go in the 5.40 range. It will run in the high 8's on 1/4 mile. Car is fast for what it is. If you want to pickup your 60 ft. times you can put longer collector's on the car. My engine puts out 800 Hp.
Nice truck,it's great how you documented everything. It's making great power.I run a S-10 with 383(10:1) old Brodix -8 heads/nitrous and 4:30 gear.. Pumpgas thru the mufflers. last time i raced it was when i had it up for sale. it never sold and sits in the garage now. th-cam.com/video/2WaAf1ME-_A/w-d-xo.html
An,t no meth always use race gas for nos enrichment i run nos on a sbc every way it could be run back in the 1990s to learn what worked and what didn't work for running nos .
You really do a great job man.

Check out old man's garage! The Malibu he's running with a sbc on E85 and his NX system on race gas is working great!!!! It can be none!!!!

Converter looks like it's working good for NA but seems really loose on the spray. I like to see 900-1000 rpm drop on the spray between gears
Good nitrous spec converter it will go 570s easy

after driving a 4 cylinder one my Dad had that could barely go 60 mph in overdrive , this S-10 would make me nervous but yers goes nice and straight

Side note you can pick up a few tenths just by taking you breather cap off especially when spraying nos
Good info man.
NEEDS A GLIDE THE REPLAY SHOIWS THE REVING TO QUICK IT DIDNT GET TO USE ITS CUBES OR BJK OFF GEAR
Are you located in Maryland.
Looks like the best expenditure of funds for you would be to buy yourself a practice tree.
So are you spraying nitruos on pump gas or stand alang race gase system
Whar octagon of fuel do nee to ru nitrous safely tdd
There's no replacement for displacement
The only problem you'll have with that statement is getting traction
There’s quite a few guys out here running e85 with a 400hp fogged and pulling zero timing…

Are u interested in selling ur nitrous kit
👍🏽
👌🏽👍🏽🙏🏽
3.50 gears for nos because you run out of track before you run out of engine RPM

@@TPVPRO no on the exhaust on your head is that studs you put in your head instead of using header bolts?

Coolant design has nothing to do with compression
The extra fuel in the cylinder required to hit the same target AFR does. I was probably not clear in the video my apologies.

My car is super good on gas it'll take that gas and make me go 120 real fast yup my engine is the best with gas
