    I'm greatly enjoying the Raff symphonies, with which my prior acquaintance was limited. Your choice of recordings is always excellent. The accompanying descriptive analyses are concise and informative. Thanks for your consistently exceptional uploads.

    I had this in a Nonesuch release from 1973 ... nice to hear it again.

    The first movement is definitely taken too fast by Neeme.....I miss the poetry of the melodies.

      That is arguably true, but according to the booklet notes, the conductor followed Raff's metronome markings.

      It's perfect IMO. Follows the composer's metronome marking and keeps a consistent joyful energy in the melodies. In other recordings this movement is way too anemic.
