- In this episode I try to elect my top 5 fuzz guitar pedals, from a preselected group of 8 pedals.

Man, the versatility of that Z Vex is crazy! Having the gate option be variable like that is really sweet. I'm thinking it's a bias knob which most manufacturers put on the inside of the pedal if they include it at all.

Fuzz is probably one of the coolest effects ever. My friends and I always loved to say about a good fuzz that it makes it sound like the speaker has already blown and the amp is starting to melt down too! :-D

I don't know if I have a favorite but I agree with you that it's important for the fuzz to clean up nicely. I love just about any fuzz honestly but yeah, I guess if I had to pick just one, I'd want one with a huge low end that cleans up nicely and with an optional bias adjustment to get that gated sounded as a bonus.
So maybe the Z Vex is the winner? But they're all so nice. Great video Budda!

Never pick a favorite. Pick 2 or 3 and then use them in stages with an overdrive in the front and back.

Top 3 for me were Reuss Copenhagen and Purple Faze, and Axis Fuzz, in no particular order. Fuzz Factory was great but not into some of the spitty gated or theremin sounds too much. All were good but for me these three were tops. Enjoyed your playing and your joyful expressions!

I need that axis fuzz, but on a power supply.. Which battery you use in your Axis Fuzz? Carbon zinc seems more of a pain than regulars. Are they worth it? Or is there a way to get the same sound with a power supply?
If you get the Axis Fuzz version other than the Rocket it works with power supply. The carbon zync are super cheap.

Why not use the broadcast as a fuzz? It has tone control, and cleans up beautifully in high gain mode.
I use it as a fuzz too on my big pedalboard but it’s not a fuzz so that’s why I didn’t included it in this episode.
Very cool....not sure if I've found my perfect fuzz yet but using a Fuzz Phonics CV7003 EXP two knob fuzz Very similar to the Jam pedal Just sold my house so have some extra money so might get an original FF IF I can find a good one They are not all good (vintage)....so maybe Isle of Tone or an Ivor replica Good stuff 👍

How do you guys find the Fuzz Factory? Is it the jack of all trades, master of none? Or is it the beast on its own? Is it useable in a "regular" way or its just that crazy one you find supercool unless you own one?
It’s very versatile but it doesn’t get the fuzz face for me. But I love it
I use the fuzz factory in a way that sounds very thin and Velcro like; then I run it into a pharaoh fuzz for fat low end and then into an overdrive to sweeten the tone even more. Use fuzz in stages.

(1) I’m really a big Hendrix fan so axis would be my first pick. I could really hear Hendrix when you got up high on the Nick. (2?) Then I kinda like the peppermint fuzz. The (4) sun im sure is good and the (2?) Z fuzz has so many sounds. I would need to play with that one more.

That’s why I mainly use it. Because everyone can relate to their sound. The others are too specific

It’s just an incredible pedal and made by the main guy out there. He build it for Hendrix himself with Hendrix input.
