    Zvex Wooley Mammoth, originally designed as a bass fuzz, has been used by several known players in this role.The Mastotron was made as a guitar equivalent, but because it has more controls, it loses some of the harmonics and brutality.This is why it's common to keep these circuits as simple as possible, as every time you add a switch or pot, you lose something which needs to be again compensated for.
    Zvex are one of the builders that opened all the doors; when you're shopping for fuzz, it's always better to go with the specialists, - Basic Audio, Skinpimp, Jext Telez , Reuss, Fredric,- all in.

      I’ve had a fuzz factory for 20+ years and it’s not an easy pedal. I sort of know how to use it, to get three different types of fuzz. It sounds good but I don’t think is very good for a live situation

    Thanks for the breakdown! I’d like to throw in another velcro fuzz for everyone to consider: Wright Sounds Fuzz Stang. The 4 knob purple version is the one I have. I also have the FF and had the chance to compare both. While the FF wins for having the ability of giving you the versatility of going from Fuzz Face , Octave Fuzz and madness tones, the Fuzz stang can give you pure velcro and volume on tap.

    I have all of these. Well, not the JAM, but a couple of other nice fuzz faces. Really nice demo of the capabilities of each pedal! Awesome improv playing too!! Really enjoyed that. Another velcro fuzz that I would recommend is the Red Witch Fuzz God II or IV. Very versatile and can get quite heavy. Make sure to play with the internal gain trim pot too. Also, my Fuzz Factory was modded to include a switch like the Fat Fuzz Factory for heavier tones. It's fantastic and quite easy to do. Would recommend that too for more bottom end on the Fuzz Factory, especially when dialing up the gate. Cheers!

    You really have a handle on these pedals. I've seen too many demos from people who absolutely do not understand the Fuzz Factory. That being said, that Carcosa is a lot more versatile than other demos have led me to believe.

    including
    2 from Analog Man & they're very cool.
    But the Carcosa does the spitty thang in spades & for the money...its genius
    Ive almost picked up the FF but it's a bit "over the top" for my style and needs to be reined in by someone that understands the controls to make it reliably useful... still...that can be the beauty if it for some!

    Fuzz Factory does not cut the sound for any reason. It is just a knob configuration. Make the knobs stays in a certain config, it will happen. Just move them a little bit, it will not happen. Know how to deal with the pedal and it will respond you as you wish, man. Fat Fuzz Factory is amazing! Best Fuzz pedal ever

    The Carcosa is intriguing to me because it seems to be able to do the squished velcro sound WITHOUT gating the sustain completely off like most bias-adjustable velcro fuzzes do.

    • @BuddaGuedes
      @BuddaGuedes  ปีที่แล้ว

      I don’t really understand what you mean!?!

    • @darwinsaye
      @darwinsaye ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@BuddaGuedes The fuzzes that get that velcro sound do it by having the bias between the clipping diodes unbalanced. On ones such as mine that has a bias adjust control, you can go from a smooth fuzz to a spitty velcro sound by adjusting the control to "unbias" the diodes, but one of the side effects of that is you get that gated effect, where your note only sustains for a short time, then suddenly cuts off. I was just saying that the Carcosa somehow gets that squashed, compressed attack when you use the "After" control to unbias the diodes, but *without* losing sustain from a sudden gating of the signal.

    The fuzz factory can make so many different fuzz sounds. in my opinion the huge flaw is that it doesn't have an option to save them as presets you can cycle thru. I may be alone in this but I would rather stomp my foot and change sounds than get down and start tweaking mid song and hopefully remember where all 5 knobs go for the particular sound I wanna call up.
