I have had my AKASO V50X for about a month. I absolutely love this camera. It works much better than the other two sports cameras I have had. Much easier to love because it is so easy to set up and change the settings. Some of the reviews are not impressed with the sound. I photographed NASCAR for 8 years and my hearing was damaged. I am able to hear and understand the replay much better than most of the others. None of the others are better, some are just equal. One more thing that is very important to me. How does the manufacturer look at the customers. Well, I will put them up with Apple and Canon. I am totally impressed by the camera and the company. JE

May I know does the Akaso v50x come with adjustable angle (wider scene) while the distortion correction is on for video recording? I tried the SJCAM SJ8 Pro for my dancing recording and I do not like the fish eye effect, thus I turned the distortion correction ON but the scene was not wide enough afterwards. Please kindly advise. Thanks.
@12:35 you show bubbles on the screen. Those bubble are air trapped under the "screen protector" (like what many people put on their cellphones). My V50 Pro had a bubble too. To be precise about this... there is a thin plastic sheet you pull off like you would most new electronics products, then there is a screen protector Akaso seemingly applies to the LCD. It is this next sheet that can also be peeled off. Warning: do not peel beyond these two sheets.
I just got an e-mail from Akaso that let me know they would be selling an external microphone for the V50X which hopefully will give it much audio. Hopefully you can get your hands on one soon so you can test it to see if the audio is significantly improved.
Another excellent review - thank you. I think this is an excellent option for folks who don't want to spend more than $100 on an action camera - hard to beat this camera's 4k/30fps resolution plus its EIS at that price. Its color profile looks more red than the original, however. I thought the original looks most natural of these 3 Akaso action cams.
Thank you Sir. It for my grandson, he is very young, 9 yrs. Want to help him set it up and mount it on his bike. Will look for " 4K@30 for the best image, EIS set to on and everything else on "auto" "- settings, he will be set too roll. Till Christmas however, I have camera in hand already as of today.
I have the V50 Pro...however I like the colors of the V50x better from what your video showed. Hopefully the sound issue will be resolved......the fact you have EIS on all speeds is hard to beat....especially at this price. Good video....thanks for making and sharing.
Hello Andre, what is a good all around camera setting , to simply let the camera do its thing, as in maybe a better term " automatic" or perhaps does this camera have auto and manual? Thanks. Yes, also, same place of purchase. That is where we bought it.
I would say 4K@30 for the best image, EIS set to on and everything else on "auto" , really good all around camera and at it's current price a great buy amzn.to/3FugXMC
Hi I have a Thieye T5e. Is the Akaso V50 a much better offering and would it be worthwhile upgrade? Also which is the best V50 version. Gopro is just way over my budget
The image quality and audio is much better on the T5e, but if you're wanting to upgrade, these 2 cameras are on a great sale right now and worth saving some extra money to buy either of these and get what you pay for, which is the best offerings of today. amzn.to/3aWy3mx or amzn.to/2RMi6ri
@@Styla78 : The EIS (stabilization) is the only thing better on the V50X but at the cost of a major cropping on the image. The T5e is a fantastic camera for it's image and audio
Okay, I've had my V50x for about a couple of weeks and love it. I purchased an external microphone and sound has improved immensely. However, I have an issue with the camera freezing. it just started to feeeze and not record. I had to pull the battery to gt it to turn off. when starting back up, some freezing takes place. I hear this may be connected to using the Wi-Fi function which I do use. Can anyone confirm and, if this is the culprit, offer a solution?
Hi. I purchased a V50X after reading several reviews. The sound playback is terrible so I contacted AKASO and they sent me a link for the up to date firmware. However this made no difference. I purchased the camera on EBay in the UK and Agaso wouldn’t help further. I purchased their external microphone but alas it’s just the same. Any ideas please? Thank you.
My V50X arrived ( no audio sync issues so far) and neglected to consider mounting options. It seems a frame/cage mount will suit me best as a base to work from. Since there are none available I figure to get a more generic one and Dremel out the bits I need. Please, can you tell me, oh kind and wise Pixelmaster, if the V50X dimensions are close to those of a more popular/mature cam that may have a frame available? Also, will other lenses and covers fit? Something with a foam gasket that can be pressed on would be great. This is my 1st action cam and I am a clueless noob.
Hello Eddie, I am not sure about a frame that will fit this camera, also I don't have any lens covers that fit it properly (yet) still looking around ebay though to see what I can find. Might want to contact Akaso customer service about the frame, it "might" be something they will be offering or can steer you in the right direction to one that fits.
Never mind you pointed out what I saw - there is a purple hue in the video where the tree shadow and sky meets. Odd. I don’t know. That would bother me.
how to connect wifi with akaso v50x model.it doesn't connect with my wifi.its coming on mobile screen connected but no internet.please give me the solution any body, and how to use eis,i am not seen any eis botton is there
I think the wifi for action camera is different from normal wifi, I got to connect the phone and V50X via wifi, than I can view the stored images and videos on my phone.
Nice video, for gutter cleaning I need a reliable app for remote controlling the camera from the smartphone , what about the akaso app ? worth it or not ? , if not do you know a better app/ better camera ? thanks (I already have a gopro 7 and am interested in buying another cam)
@@WORTHITORNOT I 'just' need a reliable display on the smartphone of what the camera sees .... The gopro app is far better but I suppose it's not compatible with akaso cam ?
I have two v50 pros and love them but this 'x' version seems to kick ass on stabilization but the color looks off. That said, post can fix that perhaps. Are you sure the purple fringing is not chromatic aberration? Thanks for the review. I'm going to get one and check it out. The nice thing about running several cameras is you can use the best audio. With all these budget cameras, one should be running several at once to get different angles anyway.
I got my V50x today and first tests kick butt. I would love to see this compared to a GoPro 7. I do wish Akaso would standardize a menu on their cameras though. That said, I like the controls on this (V50x) over the v50 -- you can start a video without accidently turning the camera off. Good for helmet cam work.
I'm looking for a new action cam and the stabilisation on the V50X looks great. But the picture looks a little hot to me. Sure that can be fixed in post, but I still think that it could have been fixed at manufacture stage. So, at this stage I'm still tossing up between the V50 Pro and the V50X with a leaning towards the V50X. As I will have to be using it with the waterproof housing (I kayak) I'm wondering what the sound quality will be like. Has it improved at all?
I took off the initial peel off cover/sticker as it says to do. I understand that its a protective layer for the touchscreen but it has air bubbles under it and cannot be removed. It does not affect the touchscreen performance, but just shows a rush to put together IMO.
This makes no sense. You can keep it on as protection, ok. But if you want to take it off, in my opinion it should be ok. But its only my opinion! Anyway, great review!
Good review, thank you. On my V50 X, when I turn on EIS, the image shifts to the left about 10 or 15 degrees, so that the direction the camera is pointing is not centered in the recorded image or the viewfinder. With EIS on, you have to frame the video with the viewfinder, or it is way off. Turn EIS off, and the image is centered. Anyone else experience this?
Yes its a common issue, this firmware at least fixes that issue. www.amazon.com/clouddrive/share/wo17RgqWq8567ZlcTVb8anlTWoz9bgo3GuZpaS3YWpX?_encoding=UTF8&%2AVersion%2A=1&%2Aentries%2A=0&mgh=1
Just got it, and honestly I'm starting to have a few questions. There's a Micro USB connector that on the user manual is mentioned as micro HDMI, but it works as USB and I can transfer data on the PC with it, so what is the other connector that is naed Mini USB on the user manual? Did they mistake names? And if that's the case, how is the camera supposed to support an external microphone in the future?
Thanks for the review. Would you be able to get your hands on the Akaso Pro SE and compare it with the V50X and the V50 Pro. I wonder is the Special Edition is actually all that special. It claims to shoot 4K at 60fps.
So after doing a few test videos, the thing that bothers me most is the very choppy digital look when panning. Unless it’s very slow, it creates a very blurred look (on my computer screen). Will I find the same issues on a GoPro 6 or 7? I’d rather pay more to not have this effect.
Matt Brinton : GoPro put out a firmware update to fix that issue on the Hero 7. Stabilization is very good with Hero 7 but that’s because they added 1 GB of memory to work with the GP1 chip to get that type of stabilization. The V50X at $99 has the best stabilization for that price range.
Hello! I'm trying to choose my first action camera and have difficulties to decide between these Akaso models, Firefly 8se and Mijia 4K. First thing I want to use the camera is for snorkeling. Other things is for family videos on vacation. Good quality video, audio and stabilization is what I need. Which do you recommend?
Good review! I am hesitating to choose between the Firefly 8SE and the V50X. I don't necessairy need 4K since I don't have any 4k screens. But would 4K recordings look better on 1080p too?
@@WORTHITORNOT Thank you kindly for your quick reply! The colors on the 8SE look more alive. But the downside is that with 4K there is no EIS. I watched your other comparisons and review too. Is the EIS on the v50x much better of is does the 8SE perform well against the v50x?

pretty impressive in the EIS for the50X, not a fan of the clicking when zooming in and out though. I thought the colors were a bit "shady" per say. Overall I thought they were similar...
Yeah that clicking is very annoying, I wish they did it like the SJ5000X Elite and just push the button one time and hold down and it automatically slowly would zoom in/out. The V50X is not as sharp as the other 2 and a bit muddy when compared. The EIS is really good though.
For what it is worth. I tried a 128 GB card in my V50 Pro and the camera recognized it. It shows twice the capacity as it does with the 64 GB cards. It records to it, plays back and the videos/images are uploadable from that card. I will try a 128 GB card with my V50X when it arrives tomorrow.
@@JohnZimmerman84: Mine also only shows gyro, but the gyro is the EIS for my cameras firmware version at least. At the beginning of this video when I said I turned EIS off, that was turning gyro off which shows that gyro is the EIS. I wish Akaso was not so confusing with all their different firmware versions as it confuses people, one person argued with me that gyro on my camera was not EIS, even though I explained that on "mine" it was.
@WORTH IT OR NOT?: that’s exactly my concern because if you read the V50X manual it shows gyro and EIS as separate options which can be enabled independently. Very confusing.
@@JohnZimmerman84 : I think it's just different firmwares for this camera. I sent Akaso an email about this but have yet to hear back from them. I just know that gyro turns on/off the EIS on mine and the EIS is really good on this camera especially for the price point.

Just bought the v50x! My menu has no options for image stabilization. It goes from resolution, to gyroscope, but the online guide shows “image stabilization” as an option. Does yours show differently? My first video was not at all smooth. Thx, and great review!
I have not had the chance to try the Brave 4, but heard good things about it's image. The V50 X has very nice EIS, just wish the audio was as good as the V50 Pro, but hopefully a firmware update will fix it.
Hi, I recorded myself playing tennis tonight for about 2 hours at 1080P / 60 FPS. The battery lasted about 110 minutes of continuous recording. Almost 2 hours. But when I checked the video files in my computer, they are broken up into many files. Each video file is about 13 minutes long. Is that how it works? It will not record one file about 110 minutes long? Or is there a setting to make each video file longer?
Love your review of the Akaso V50X. I was bouncing around with different models and your video cemented the deal for me. Hi, have you tried the Wifi connection? When I connect the camera with my phone via Wifi, it has a lot of lag? I watched another review of Akaso V50X and their wifi connection has almost no lag or very little lag? Does yours have very little or a lot of lag?
Noted that there will be some lag. But mine really lags a lot. I feel that if you call this Wifi connection as a feature, then it shouldn't lag this much. A little bit of lag within reason is fine.

Hi, do you know what is the difference between image stabilization and gyroscope? For sure I want image stabilization when recording video. But do I also need to turn on gyroscope?
On the original firmware, it was gyroscope only and that was stabilization, now they have added EIS and gyroscope and I keep both on when videoing. I will do a test to confirm, but I think that gyro is more geared towards taking photos but like I said I will test and confirm and report back.
Not really! It's not possible to activate time lapse and long exposure at the same time, the only way is trying a time lapse with the night scene activated and that's not enough for night sky.
Turn on camera, go to the gear wheel bottom right, tap it, then look at "gyroscope" and make sure that is on, that is your EIS (electronic image stabilization)
@@WORTHITORNOT Oh wow, first of all Thanks for your response. So its the same with the Image stabilization? Thanks in advance..!!
With any 4K action camera, you need a U3 speed card and these are what I use amzn.to/2nJy4Xf , Manufacture said it only supports 64gb but I have had some viewers state that they used a 128 & 256gb with no issues. I have not tested that report.
Newest camera or firmware seems to have dramatically improved the sound quality. I was expecting terrible sound, but not that bad on V3. Great image quality on 4k 30fps. Don't bother with any other sizes.
Interesting, when I connect to the app it does not show any firmware updates for the V50. Maybe the new sales versions are different. Mine has terrible audio and the video and audio go out of sync after 3-4 minutes or recording in 4K@30, but overall, it's a really nice camera with good 4K video and decent stabilization for the price. It does have a narrower field of view but that's how it gets such good stabilization by cropping in the image. I would shoot 4K with this camera for the sheer flexibility in editing. I've been watching reviews/tests on Akaso Pro / Pro SE / X to help decide which to go for. An observation is that various reviews have different issues with same model which I guess may be firmware version difference as that is not usually shown in reviews. In your test, the audio on the X was much louder than I've heard previously. The Pro when on 1080/60 EIS On often comes out quite 'rubbery' on the edges whilst others, like your review, was fairly stable. Still deciding .... Great work with the reviews!

I have the V50 Pro...however I like the colors of the V50x better from what your video showed. Hopefully the sound issue will be resolved......the fact you have EIS on all speeds is hard to beat....especially at this price. Good video....thanks for making and sharing.
Thanks for watching Neal !
@@WORTHITORNOT oh...t5e is better?? Very surprised to hear that. I'll continue using it. 😁
@@Styla78 : The EIS (stabilization) is the only thing better on the V50X but at the cost of a major cropping on the image. The T5e is a fantastic camera for it's image and audio
@@WORTHITORNOT Thank you. I will keep the T5e until I can save up more for either a Gopro 8 or DJI.
I have had no issues with mine freezing. Might want to contact Akaso directly and see what they say.
Thank you.
Unfortunately no, you might want to return it.
Great review. Thank you.
Thanks for watching
Fyi, my v50 elite had the green tinge issue. I made a complaint to the company and they sent me a firmware update, which seemed to fix it.
Never mind you pointed out what I saw - there is a purple hue in the video where the tree shadow and sky meets. Odd. I don’t know. That would bother me.
Not just you, I even mentioned it a few times in this video
how to connect wifi with akaso v50x model.it doesn't connect with my wifi.its coming on mobile screen connected but no internet.please give me the solution any body, and how to use eis,i am not seen any eis botton is there
I think the wifi for action camera is different from normal wifi, I got to connect the phone and V50X via wifi, than I can view the stored images and videos on my phone.
I am still trying to find out where is the EIS. My unit just arrived last night and still figure out how to use it too.
Isn't mini USB for the charging port a strange choice nowadays? Or does it have any advantages?
No advantages at all, especially since all major companies have moved to USB-type C.
I would have expected at least micro USB. I've thrown out most of my mini USB cables....
Nice video, for gutter cleaning I need a reliable app for remote controlling the camera from the smartphone , what about the akaso app ? worth it or not ? , if not do you know a better app/ better camera ? thanks (I already have a gopro 7 and am interested in buying another cam)
The Akaso app is "okay" not bad, not fantastic
Audio inside the waterproof housing will be bad with any action camera.
Bugger.... Not exactly the word that I want to use ;)
What do you mean when you say there are bubbles on the screen? That is a protective film!
I took off the initial peel off cover/sticker as it says to do. I understand that its a protective layer for the touchscreen but it has air bubbles under it and cannot be removed. It does not affect the touchscreen performance, but just shows a rush to put together IMO.
It can be removed. It has one with writings that you already removed, and there is a second one transparent that you still have on.
@@paulograve3323 Interesting, I saw a video from Akaso telling people to not remove that last layer of film as it can damage the screen. Humm.
This makes no sense. You can keep it on as protection, ok. But if you want to take it off, in my opinion it should be ok. But its only my opinion! Anyway, great review!

Can i use samsung evo U3 or sandisk extreme U3? Which one better?
U3 cards must be used in 4K cameras and I prefer Sandisk

Awesome review thnx m8
Thanks for the review. Would you be able to get your hands on the Akaso Pro SE and compare it with the V50X and the V50 Pro. I wonder is the Special Edition is actually all that special. It claims to shoot 4K at 60fps.
If they send me one I’ll be more than happy to do a comparison video
chad murphy : Just got the V50 Pro SE sent to me.
@@WORTHITORNOT can't wait to hear how you think it compares to the other Akaso models.
Dynamic range seems to be better than the other two when you them under the shadow area.
Hello! I'm trying to choose my first action camera and have difficulties to decide between these Akaso models, Firefly 8se and Mijia 4K. First thing I want to use the camera is for snorkeling. Good review! I am hesitating to choose between the Firefly 8SE and the V50X. I don't necessairy need 4K since I don't have any 4k screens. But would 4K recordings look better on 1080p too?
The Firefly 8SE is a better all around camera, better 4K & 1080 video quality and much better audio.

The firmware on mine is : V50X-FX-20190619-V1.0
WORTH IT OR NOT?: Does yours show the EIS setting and Gyro setting? Mine only shows Gyro.

Gyroscope is the image stabilization
Ok great! Thanks!
Giena Giena : Yes, apparently some cameras say “gyro” and some say “EIS” but the same thing as gyroscope means stabilization.
$64.000 question is, does this version offer an external mic connection of some type?
Not at this time, but maybe a firmware update will provide that feature soon.
I want this feature as well. External mics (without an adapter) are a must anymore.
I like them all 3 as a Akaso Brave 4 usser for a year now i think the V50x or V50pro will be my next actioncam.

Most all action cameras have a file max of 4gb video file then starts writing a new file.
I see. Got it. Thanks.

Hi, have you tried the Wifi connection? When I connect the camera with my phone via Wifi, it has a lot of lag? I watched another review of Akaso V50X and their wifi connection has almost no lag or very little lag? Does yours have very little or a lot of lag?
I have not but all of the other action cameras I’ve tested there is always a lag because it’s over a WiFi signal
Noted that there will be some lag. But mine really lags a lot. I feel that if you call this Wifi connection as a feature, then it shouldn't lag this much. A little bit of lag within reason is fine.

With any 4K action camera, you need a U3 speed card and these are what I use amzn.to/2nJy4Xf , Manufacture said it only supports 64gb but I have had some viewers state that they used a 128 & 256gb with no issues. I have not tested that report.
Is it better than sj6 legend?
I'm confused between these two action cams
If you need real 4K with very good EIS, then get the Akaso, if you want very good 1080 and decent EIS with much better audio, then get the SJ6 Legend
Maybe the new sales versions are different. also, could you please recommend me a budget camera with great quality 1080 60fps, great width range and great EIS?thanks a lot man!! keep it up!
It does have a narrower field of view but that's how it gets such good stabilization by cropping in the image. I would shoot 4K with this camera for the sheer flexibility in editing. A great budget camera with excellent 1080@60 would be this one as its one of my most favorite cameras I use a lot: amzn.to/2KKubcP
@@WORTHITORNOT thanks a lot man!! really appreciated, keep it up!

Yes, it will be available on Amazon soon.
Hello, how are you? Congratulations on the channel, I don't speak English. Which one is better for me to buy?
AKASO 50 X, PRO or ELITE? Or between AKASE and ThiEYE T5 Pro 4 K / 60fps; Would you help me? Thank you very much...
I would recommend the V50Pro as it has the best image quality
Hey, great video. Maybe you will do comparison between Akaso V50X and SJCAM SJ8 pro? It would be nice to see side by side them possibilities.
Cause I saw comparison V50X and YI 4K+. Akaso has much better EIS than YI.
Sure, I can do a comparison for you
@@WORTHITORNOT It would be nice, cause I thinking to buy one and we have some price difference. So I keen to see if it is worth to pay more.
@@TheSimas11 : Just did a quick video for you, should be uploaded in the next hour of the Akaso V50X vs the SJ8 Pro. Hope this helps.
@@WORTHITORNOT thanks a lot. You are amazing

I use these: amzn.to/2Ma3yhV
hello😃 how many gb(sd card) arr you using???
if you are use 128gb,how many can you take?(when recording by 1080p 60fps)
Only using a 32gb card in most of my action cameras, this camera only holds up to a 64gb sd card
Hey bro. I'm a new subscriber. I like your review videos and I also see that you reply to the comments which I really appreciate.
I have a quick question for you:
I'm planning to make Moto vlogs and I have set my eyes on the akaso v50 pro at the moment. My main concern is the compatibility of external microphone as I don't want wind blast to be heard while recording..
Could you suggest a good action camera that's good for Moto vlogs. Except go pros. And can v50 pro is compatible with external Mike. What do you say?
Thanks in advance.
V. Vignesh : Get the Firefly 8 SE comes with an external microphone that sounds very good and you can mount inside your helmet
I have the V50. I can tell a big difference in the EIS in your video. I'm impressed. Are you able to connect to wifi from camera to your phone? Either it was my V50 or my app itself.
I really don’t like using apps from these lesser known companies, but yes the EIS on this V50X is much improved
Whats it like in low light?
Like all Action cameras, bad.
Thanks for watching !
