Boy not only is the video incredibly informative in simplest terms possible, it is also shot in supreme quality - light, focus, sound and editing is just spot on. Many of such tutorial videos are shot in poor light, wandering focus, voice not matching what is being shown on the screen etc but none of that here. Subscribed. Just very, very high quality content all across. Please keep up the good work.

holy smokes, this is actually the first time following this guys instructions and he is spot on. Usually other videos feature instructions where they miss minor adjustments and details and you spend an hour trying to troubleshoot. This is the first video i have watched and followed the step by step instructions and it worked, FIRST TIME!!! more than a like here, subscribing to this guys channel.

That’s the best installation video of the 12 speed I’ve seen! VERY informative! I’ve just gone from Box Prime 9 to Shimano Deore 12 and I can’t tell you how easy that was to follow and dial in! I was worried it would be difficult because the Box was awful! How wrong I was. I’ve learnt my lesson now, Box can do one! Oh how I’ve missed Shimano!
    Great video! Thank you!

Thanks for the lesson! After watching the video 3-4 times, I was able to mount and set up a 12 speed Shimano SLX/XT system on my bike .I also found out that the 12s chain is very narrow and it doesn't fit a shimano crank for 11s if you don't change the chainring with one for 12s. The installation became perfect!

I own a 2009 Giant Trance X with 3x9 Shimano XT drive train. I haven't ridden In 10 years ( I had 3 kids, now they're older and I have more time for me again and my son wants to RIDE 😊 ), I use to race XXC. I went to ride the other day and the rear derailleur was broke, went to buy one and NOPE they don't make them anymore and I could only find used parts. I was shocked how much everything has changed in 10 yrs. Thank you for making this video.. ordered all the parts from your lists, it helped a TON! 👍👍

Getting back into biking is exciting. And yes, things have changed quite dramatically in the last 10 years. I di hope that you have ordered a cassette like this and not the Micro Spline Deore?? th-cam.com/video/COACxEtQUR8/w-d-xo.html
SunRace will fit on your hub, Deore 12s won't

      @@LoveMTBHi thanks for your reply,
      I did order the SHIMANO SLX CS-M7100 Cassette - 12-Speed, 10-51t, Silver/Black, Micro Spline.
This will not fit my current Shimano HG CS-M770 hub?
Is the Sunrace kit the only option?

This was helpful. I just installed a M8100 1x drivetrain on my Tallboy V4. Shifter indexing is always tricky for me, but after some back and forth I got it to work (at least on the stand). A video on troubleshooting indexing issues would be really useful. In my case I re-did all my steps from cable attachment, to the limit and B-gap screws and then re-did the indexing process two times. I eventually got it working correctly. Hopefully once I get the bike out on the trails it shifts as good as in the repair stand. The other thing I think some people are not aware of is that the end caps, aka ferrules, need to be put on correctly and very firmly. There will be some natural housing compression that occurs after use, so indexing might need to be fine tuned after a ride or two. Another tip, for full suspension, cut the chain with 7 extra links to start. Then see if you need to reduce it more. Once you cut, you can't go back and lengthen. In my case, the 7 links was too long and ended up cutting again to get to 5 links which was perfect.

@@LoveMTB wished I saw this video before I installed mine, would have had it dialed in from day one 😁 took a few bad shifting to get to the promise land 😂

      @@LoveMTB quite true....
One gotcha which would really help us is to clarify on close ups the alignment of the 12s Shimano cassette as I do feel that there is a slight sprocket raise on the last (smallest) cog if one looks at the cassette from the side (not top) even if one follows the markings.
I ignored this and assumed it is by design. @sickbiker attempted the video but did not touch on this point.
      Did you notice this too?

@@LoveMTB it was strange as the same happened on both my XT and SLX cassettes. I will double check again using your video in my next week's service of the drivetrain.
      Thanks a bunch.

@@LoveMTB Just wanted to say big thanks! Used the video as a guide as promised and yup I had a few misses with my XT setup:
      - clutch was too hard resisting the shifting once the clutch is engaged. Problem started once I engaged clutch 2 months after setup (I am so clueless 😐 😅)
      - slowest chainwheel was not aligned. Adjusted b-gap screw and al was golden
      - adjusted cable tension again
      - the cogs where setup correctly though, I was looking in on the last cog from the hyperglide grooves which confused me duh! 🤓🙈
All working and shifting beautifully now on both my XT 8100 and SLX 7100 wheelset setup.
Thanks a bunch and keep doing what you do for diy MTB mechanic enthusiasts giving the complex world of bike components setup. 👍🏾💯

This sounds like the best tutorial ever! Too bad I don't have money for anything xD
But if I was building a bike, I would def get Deore set.
