Lindsey I am really enjoying these "snapshots" of your travels. Please keep posting them or even go back to weekly vlogs. You are naturally gifted with your narratives and humor.
my advice . don't let anybody hug you or put his hands around your shoulders . inter gender physical contact is a big no and most of the time means more than a friendly gesture.
Thanks ever so much :) I've seen the look of the boats and they don't look that neat, just wondered if you had gone on it in the evening. Thanks again for your help !!x
I agree. Why did she let strange men touch her? Also, trying to sell them Viagra was a way to see if they were single. They shouldn't be talking about their sex lives to strangers. I'm uncomfortable just watching. I would have told the men to keep their hands to themselves.
I understand your concern, but the souks we were in were packed with tourists as well. When I'm traveling I really like to get into the culture and go to places I wouldn't be able to go at home. When we were at the Dubai mall I felt like I was still in America. I definitely think staying out of the souks in some places is good advice, but not for Dubai. They are very safe and are a main tourist attraction. :)
Ahh i remember when i went to Dubai... they will not get off you, i was offered fake Rolex watches and fake designer handbags.... Hope you had a awesome trip!
they are the professional people for marketing. they behave with people according to them. respect for respectable and vice versa. thumbs up for brothers
You are way more calm w/ these shopkeepers than I would be. I hate when random people come up to me at the mall to buy stuff, I couldn't imagine what I'd say to say to these guys. Anyways, I'm really diggin' these vids!
"BEST PRICE FOR YOU MY FRIEND. TOP QUALITY. RIGHT NOW DEAL." Haha, I just visited the Souk today. Was quite the experience. Bought some fake Yeezy's for 300D
Oh no! There are so many places to visit in Dubai other than the Souck. I would say that the Souck is pretty much the ghetto side of Dubai!! and really Dubai is more of shopping centers and hotels. Believe it or not I am Saudi and when I visit I still get pushed into buying a lot when I walk by, I can just imagine if you are foreign! I hope you enjoyed your stay!
@LinzLoves - we are travelling to Dubai in a weeks time and thinking of doing the evening dinner cruise on the creek or marina , did you do either of these ?? if so , would you recommend them ? thanks xx
I wouldn't waste your money on the dinner cruise. I saw the boats the cruises are on and they don't look very nice. Definitely grab a bite to eat at the marina or at madinat jumeriah. Check out Time Out Dubai's website for some dining options! Hope this helps!!
Now I know this might be kind of a personal question, but how much did your trip cost in USD? I'd want to go but I have no idea how much it would cost since the money isn't the same over there.. Thanks :)
They bargained better than a lot of people. Could they have gotten a lower price yeah most likely but keep in mind you are also paying for the whole "bargaining experience" and the shop keepers are not complaining about being filmed so in the end all good for everyone involved.
I'm an Arab and I go to dubai almost every year twice, going to these souqs is a good way to see culture BUT I dont go there myself cause its quite dangerous. and they can be really clingy. plus everyone who works there isnt arabic. if they were arabic they would show more respect and they wouldnt touch you and definitely give you your space. You should have taken an arabic friend or someone who knows his way around so you'd go to the best places to see the REAL beauty of Arabian culture.
Hi, Years ago you when phil was losing weight you guys were making a peanutbutter and chocolate smoothie thing in one of your videos. can you pleasssseeeee give me the recipe or link the video where you make them!! im still craving them all this time later!! :D
They're not like this in every part of Dubai, the souk is a more poor part of Dubai and the people there are mainly from surrounding parts of the UAE and they aren't educated and don't really pick up on social cues, which is why they seem touchy.
I understand what you're saying. Shops vendors in middle east are full of people like this guy. I am from Saudi Arabia and I almost always stay with my family when they go to malls, those people are quite annoying, and you never feel safe letting your family stay with these people.
i'm an arabian . just wanna say , they took a lot of money . All the stuff that you bought worth only 60 . they actually bring it from indai for a cheep price .
Oh wow! That is not how the shopkeepers usually behave. As a middle-easterner, this was very insightful to me. I'm honestly very surprised that the shopkeepers were throwing themselves at you, and touching you so much! I think its completely hypocritical how these men "lower their gaze" in front of Arab/Muslim women, but get so handsy with tourists. You guys were too nice; you don't have to be nice to bargain here!
Just one quick thing, don't let anyone touch your shoulder or anywhere else. Don't smile too much and be firm with a straight face when you buy stuff. Those men attitude is disgusting. You share the blame
i gotta say, the guys in dubai seem pretty clingy, but its not as bad as other places! i've recently been on a trip to kenya and they shop keepers there are like ravenous wolves compared to the guys in dubai although, one time (in somewhere very close to where you were in this video, with the wooden overhang) one of the guys called me 'james bond' to get my attention XD
If this is the type of situation you find problematic, while I've never been to the Middle East, I've had similar enough experiences traveling in Europe and even at home, in the US. It's definitely not specific to a certain area of the world.
I'm just appalled and really uncomfortable watching this video because - A. They assumed they could just cross physical boundaries with you because you're from the west and "it's allowed" there. B. They completely left their own ideals from ideals when they saw you because they were like oh a beautiful western woman let me touch her and be extra flirty and smiley - ( they would never in a million years do this with a local woman) and C. They don't put prices on anything specifically so they can scam you and they tell the prices so outrageously high and without any sense of guilt behind it. Overall, just disappointed with the vendors you got to meet. It's sad, really. They wouldn't dare to act so cheery and rip off someone to that extent if it was a man from the west. The absolute condescension they see in the females is so blatantly obvious. I mean why the fuck would a shopkeeper ask you your age, and if your boyfriend's dick is working. Jeez. Absolute cringe to watch, and I'm really sorry you had to experience this Linz.
Yeah, I had to get over the whole "being rude" thing too. But honestly, when you're being pressured into buying something, you should never worry about being "rude". If you don't want it, you don't want it. As for the men with machine guns...I wouldn't enter a shop that was guarded by men with machine guns in the first place;)
hey linz @1:40 when the guy told you that it costs 1500 DHS... he lied to you ... it would not cost 10 DHS ..... + i am sorry for the bad experience you had in dubai but be sure that dubai has a very very very good police force that you can depend on .
Liam Hadla Because anyone who stares and thinks wrong things just because they can get away with it is disgusting to me. In this case, it is usually the labor workers or these market men. I've lived in the UAE for most of my life and being a Canadian expat, I can see how these men are exploiting the tourists, making them think that they are just joking around when in reality, they are thinking nothing but disgusting thoughts about these women and what they wish they could do to them. If that makes me pathetic, then so be it.
Hahaha, they brought the prices up for you by a ridiculous rate in the beginning. I laughed so hard when he tried to sell those figurines for 1500 AED, I wouldn't pay 15 for those. You could have gotten a slightly better deal for all of those if you were a native, but it was an alright deal over all! Great job though! I always see foreigners being lied to insanely and having to pay like 500%.
Lindsey I am really enjoying these "snapshots" of your travels.

You are naturally gifted with your narratives and humor.
I think it pleases all of us to know that Phil's machine is great. You go Phil.
"You're my best friend." Haha! I love how you deal with the souk shop owners... I wish I had you with me when I went to Morocco.
my advice . don't let anybody hug you or put his hands around your shoulders . inter gender physical contact is a big no and most of the time means more than a friendly gesture.
im going to dubai in october for my birthday, i love watching these videos! i'm going to be 18 and slightly scared of how they will be!
This is the worst side of dubai
Thanks ever so much :) I've seen the look of the boats and they don't look that neat, just wondered if you had gone on it in the evening. Thanks again for your help !!x
I liked your videos so much, it felt to me having holiday in Dubai. You both makes great video with your two great personalities.
I miss living there. This video brings back so many memories.
Those prices are too high for those items. He totally ripped you off. And he shouldn't be so touchy, that's not the norm here. Pervert alert!
I agree. Why did she let strange men touch her? Also, trying to sell them Viagra was a way to see if they were single. They shouldn't be talking about their sex lives to strangers. I'm uncomfortable just watching. I would have told the men to keep their hands to themselves.
Weird how a boat ride is much cheaper than one of those small items
I love your negotiation tactics. As a thift shopper i'm very proud!
These vids are class.. I really wanna head Dubai check out the souks!
so you took the metro to the first souk and then used the water transport to get to the spice/gold souk??
You really let the guys take advantage
yep! you can also take the metro to the spice and gold souk. but the fastest way to get from one to the other is definitely by water taxi:)
Thanks for taking us with you
Great video! I think I would get sea sick on those boats. How was the ride?
Ahh i remember when i went to Dubai... they will not get off you, i was offered fake Rolex watches and fake designer handbags.... Hope you had a awesome trip!
I'm from Dubai its better to be aloof with the sellers because they tend to push their products on you. I'm glad you guys had fun :D
Wow you're so good at the souks!! They terrify me pressuring me and I get really annoyed and mean with them but you stayed so calm!
Linz your the best haggler from America! if that was a competitive sport you'd be at an Olympic level haha.
OMG Lindz that was sooo entertaining...thx!
they are the professional people for marketing. they behave with people according to them. respect for respectable and vice versa. thumbs up for brothers

Additionally, if they dared to speak to a Local woman like that, they'd be quickly dealt punishment in the Capital form.
Did you have any trouble bringing the spices to the US or you mailed them before?
@LinzLoves - we are travelling to Dubai in a weeks time and thinking of doing the evening dinner cruise on the creek or marina , did you do either of these ?? if so , would you recommend them ? thanks xx
Hahaha wow. Can't wait for the next video
how there r touching yaar n what's police doing it's wrong
I'm so jealous. I want to go to Morocco so bad. One of my top places to travel to.
That's was so nice vid and i'm not gonna worries about you guys , because you're smart and got a strong heart!!! "cheers" x)
I wouldn't waste your money on the dinner cruise. I saw the boats the cruises are on and they don't look very nice. Definitely grab a bite to eat at the marina or at madinat jumeriah. Check out Time Out Dubai's website for some dining options! Hope this helps!!
you doing great job on to processing of negotiations on things ...the sale man is very annoying i leave dubai too...
hope you had a lot of fun .. you should visit Saudi next time ..
you cant live without shopping :D great enjoyable video.
I'm from Dubai, I found this video shocking. I never thought of such thing to happen here! why didn't you report this salesman to the authority!
so did you learn any Arabic words in dubai ?
Now I know this might be kind of a personal question, but how much did your trip cost in USD? I'd want to go but I have no idea how much it would cost since the money isn't the same over there.. Thanks :)
They bargained better than a lot of people. Could they have gotten a lower price yeah most likely but keep in mind you are also paying for the whole "bargaining experience" and the shop keepers are not complaining about being filmed so in the end all good for everyone involved.
omg theyre sooo touchy
One thing I hate about bartering wherever you go is if you're in a hurry and just wanna buy something quickly you can't without getting ripped off
LOL, hope we can meet them in the final. And then we will see :D
Thanks! :)
good to know phil's machine is great
this men need education
What is this?i have been to souk and don’t let them wth
Glad to know Phil's "machine" works great :P
I'm an Arab and I go to dubai almost every year twice, going to these souqs is a good way to see culture BUT I dont go there myself cause its quite dangerous. and they can be really clingy. plus everyone who works there isnt arabic. if they were arabic they would show more respect and they wouldnt touch you and definitely give you your space. Hilarious! That guy was obsessed with Viagara! Good bargaining...
Are her and Phil still together?
those men were so touchy, I would've been like watch the hand, just cause I'm foreign doesn't mean I won't mind!
Hi, Years ago you when phil was losing weight you guys were making a peanutbutter and chocolate smoothie thing in one of your videos. can you pleasssseeeee give me the recipe or link the video where you make them!! im still craving them all this time later!! :D
Are the owners of this chsnnel alive??
Nope, these were the Bur Dubai and Spice Souqs. But yes the ones at Jumirah were definitely very different and touristy.
Saffron pretty nice, now you should make some paella
Omg! It looks like Egypt!....and Jordan.....and Israel.....
Why are they so touchy???
They're not like this in every part of Dubai, the souk is a more poor part of Dubai and the people there are mainly from surrounding parts of the UAE and they aren't educated and don't really pick up on social cues, which is why they seem touchy.
Natasha Zaman But their English is pretty good!
***** How come?
***** That is just disgusting.
***** I am sorry to say this, I think this man is an opportunistic scumbag.
OMG hahah I was cracking up the whole time, ya know, those guys wouldn't dare talk to Arabian women like that.
You're awesome linz.
I have a question.
Duz u liek eet uen teh chicks b al ap een yo grill b?
i'm saudi and i totally agree
I understand what you're saying. Shops vendors in middle east are full of people like this guy. I am from Saudi Arabia and I almost always stay with my family when they go to malls, those people are quite annoying, and you never feel safe letting your family stay with these people.

The Iranian seller man so fuckin funny 😅
Oh wow! That is not how the shopkeepers usually behave. As a middle-easterner, this was very insightful to me. Just one quick thing, don't let anyone touch your shoulder or anywhere else. Don't smile too much and be firm with a straight face when you buy stuff. Those men attitude is disgusting. You share the blame
Yes, these women share the blame because they are practically encouraging the men to behave the way they do.
Same as in Grand Cayman. Just keep walking.
i gotta say, the guys in dubai seem pretty clingy, but its not as bad as other places! i've recently been on a trip to kenya and they shop keepers there are like ravenous wolves compared to the guys in dubai
although, one time (in somewhere very close to where you were in this video, with the wooden overhang) one of the guys called me 'james bond' to get my attention XD

Viagra for your grandfather. I so do not want that picture in my head. Those guys were great. Really enjoying your videos.
watch out girls these guys seem to be very hungry :)

women in the west are open minded.
This looks like a great experience :D
That 'big' camel costs 30 durhams at Day-to-Day or Happyland
Yeah, I had to get over the whole "being rude" thing too. But honestly, when you're being pressured into buying something, you should never worry about being "rude". If you don't want it, you don't want it.
As for the men with machine guns...I wouldn't enter a shop that was guarded by men with machine guns in the first place;)
190 was still expensive you would've easily got it for 100/120 all items
at 5:30, that man was SUUUPER interested in what you were saying..shoulda told him your youtube
LOOOL
This man is laying I live in Abu Dhabi it is just for 110
OMG linz! dont let them fool you, you could have bought it with 100 dhs
They played y'all all the items you bought are like less then a 100
hey linz @1:40 when the guy told you that it costs 1500 DHS... he lied to you ... it would not cost 10 DHS ..... + i am sorry for the bad experience you had in dubai but be sure that dubai has a very very very good police force that you can depend on .
I saw those same people

OMG you were totally ripped off!!
I don't know whats creepier when they stare at you or when they put their arms around you.
All these locals Tryna Cop a Feel..... or just plain stare.
Liam Hadla Because anyone who stares and thinks wrong things just because they can get away with it is disgusting to me. In this case, it is usually the labor workers or these market men. no trouble:)
I think you guys caused the Dubai financial crises with your bargaining methods.
if i were to go i would hate the fact that they are always touching you !!
408 US dollars for a camel which is probably made in China for $1
Right, if they bought it from eBay from china they would have got all those things for a few dollars
i have been to that market and they usually quote me a fair price. I have seen the camels go for like 20-30aed.
$1 is high.....only $ .05
I would spend so much money if I were there because I would feel bad saying no!
Is that Mario at 5:30?
