DUBAI, UAE - We’re in Dubai, and today we’re going on a huge local food tour with my friend @RuzainaHadgie . She’s taking us to a few of her favorite restaurants for affordable Dubai food - from local Emirati food to Bangladeshi food to Kerala Indian food.
Here are all the places we went:
Arabian Tea House (g.page/Arabian...) - First up on this Dubai food tour we went to Arabian Tea House which is one of the most well known Emirati restaurants and cafes in the city. Completely by coincidence we happen to meet up with the owner, Ali Al Rais, who hung out with us and showed us some of his favorite dishes on the menu. We ordered the Emirati breakfast set, plus Ali’s favorite breakfast, which included eggs scrambled with tomato. An amazing restaurant, great atmosphere and delicious local food.
Al Damyati Restaurant (goo.gl/maps/Zm...) - Next up we went to Al Damyati Restaurant, an Egyptian restaurant, to eat their legendary grilled lamb chops. They were spectacular, and incredibly juicy. Additionally we had some Egyptian pickles and hummus.
Bondhu Restaurant (goo.gl/maps/iP...) - Next up on this ultimate Dubai food tour we went to Bondhu Restaurant, a hole in the wall Bangladeshi restaurant. Their biryani and variety of Bangladeshi curries were incredibly flavorful. Once you have a meal like this, so packed with flavor, it’s hard to ever go back to less spicy food. An amazing place and highly recommended in Dubai.
Aaraamam Restaurant (goo.gl/maps/pg...) - Aaraamam Restaurant is a restaurant that specializes in Kerala Indian food, most famously for their beef fry and paratha. The combination is out of this world, beef chunks in either dry or gravy form, with so many spices, coconut, and curry leaves, all sopped up with extremely flaky paratha. There’s not doubt this is one of the best things to eat when you’re in Dubai.
Fish Market Dubai - Finally to wrap up this food tour in Dubai, we drove out to the Fish Market Dubai. The fish market is nicely set up and quite clean, and there’s a huge range of different seafood to choose from. Unfortunately it can be a bit of an aggressive environment. But hold strong choose your seafood and make sure you agree on a price. After you buy your seafood, you can then go to a restaurant and have them cook it on spot. A nice Dubai seafood experience and a great way to end this amazing food tour.

Truly one of the best cuisine i hv tried is Bangladeshi food... It often gets sidelined and many confuse it with indian or pakistani cuisine which it is not... the richness, the spice the procedure and variety makes the cuisine so tasty... had tried it in UAE and even got the opportunity to go to bangladesh recently to try out their authentic food... It's a must visit for food lovers.

So happy to see you finally trying some Bangladeshi food! We have been watching your videos from day one. We were eagerly waiting for you to try Bangladeshi cuisine. And finally it happened!! Just a recommendation for next time: in Bangladesh we don’t usually mix a lot food items together (unlike a lot other ‘desi’ cuisines). For example, the vegetable dish with prawn and eggplant is supposed to be eaten only with plain white rice. Then once you finish you take white rice again to eat with different curries (separately, not mixing all together). About the star of the show ‘Kacchi Biriyani’ or any other type of Bangladeshi biriyani, they are to be enjoyed with only what they come with like potatoes and eggs. Even Bangladeshi Kababs (Shami Kabab or Jali Kabab) go really well with biriyanies. But mixing curries with biriyani doesn’t really let you get the real taste of the biriyani. Curries are to be eaten with plain white rice to get the authentic flavours and taste. However, it’s just a recommendation because we can’t wait for you to visit Bangladesh and enjoy all possible Bangladeshi dishes. Nothing new to say, you are simply amazing! We love to see your love for food. Keep doing what you’re doing. All the best and stay safe 😊

Well said Mark. Bangladeshi food is so rich in flavours and spices that other foods like Indian ( which the world knows for its spices, but it isn't compared with Bangladeshi cuisine) taste plain. Perhaps even I would not realize it if I didn't come to Canada.
Mark I just crumble to pieces watching you eat this delicious Indian, UAE food. I just melt away with the scents and spices they use, it’s the best and healthiest foods.

Agree. I'm not Bangladeshi but my husband was, and I learned to cook Bangladeshi such as fish, dal, and more, it's really great when it's authentic.

I am a Bangladeshi. In Bangladesh we don't usually have anything with gravy with Biryani, we try to eat Biryani by itself, other than onions, cucumber, or green chillies.

Bangladesh is a diverse country from top to bottom and our food is also very diverse from meat, chicken, vegetable, seafood, breads, sweets and deserts we have it all here. We have a variety of traditional Bengali food. In the UK, USA, Australia & Europe majority of Indian & Bengali restaurant are owned by Bangladeshis from the Syhlet region and our food in those country have become very popular and has made many Syhletis very rich in income which they then invest back into Bangladesh and its local community.
In Bangladesh particularly Sylhet and Dhaka the Mughals, Turks and Persians aswell as other settlers settled there for business and to spread Islam for many years and whilst being there they introduced their cuisine which then got mixed with the local Bengali cuisine over a very long period of time that's why we have items like Biryani, tandoori grilled dishes aswell as other cuisines. Bengali curry and rice dishes have deep mossala flavours that is very rich in taste. When you have the opportunity please do visit Bangladesh. 😊❤️🇧🇩🙏🏽

I love the fact you did this tour of Dubai with a girl from Sri Lanka :-) - My heritage is Sri Lanka and I will be going to Dubai in July - (I know mega hot! - but it will be my first visit) - lovely to see what I can eat on a budget because the hotel restaurants look really expensive :-(
One question though Mark, - you always seem to really enjoy the food in all your videos - but do you actually enjoy all the food? - or sometimes do you have to fake that smile for the cameras and owners?
