In the second ending Lily clearly switched bodies with Violet. Not only did her name display as "Violet?" with question mark, but also in the last sentence, she referred to the doll by "Violet". Creepy shit.
Hm, so in the first ending (the bad one), Lily kills Violet, freeing all the toys from the whims of an owner who can’t stay true to their devotion to her-as a sort of justice. It does seem to imply that the crow is a metaphor for Violet, since it seems like Lily kills the crow at the end, as well. The theatre seems to show the state of the relationship between the two, and who remains “stuck” in it (Lily will never have a real relationship with Violet, since the latter is dead, so Lily is trapped here, alone, obsessing over her relationship with the dead girl who can never again try to abandon her). The second ending (the “good” one), Lily somehow swaps bodies with Violet, trapping Violet in a doll, so that Violet will never leave Lily-instead, leaving Lily in power to make that decision (or not, as she likely never will). The crow is the one stuck in the theatre, as Violet is now the one unable to leave the relationship, and likely will lose any sort of sense of self before too long, hence the crow sitting passively on the sill of the open window. Lily is free to continue her relationship in as “healthy” a way as she is capable, so she isn’t trapped in the theatre. The final ending (true ending), Lily resigns herself to the relationship ending. The crow, the metaphor for Violet, tears Lily asunder (metaphorically), and both parties acknowledge the love and memories they shared, but that it cannot and will not continue. Thus, the theatre is empty, as both are able to move on. At least, that’s my theory.
The 3rd ending I thought that the Crow my have actually pulled one of the greatest anime betrayals and one shoted her after thinking about it And playing it out again in my head you're ending 3 makes more sense. After reading a comment from Hidden who's in a thread below the Crow could have stopped her from going through with the possession would lead to ending 2 that's then go's to the true ending that we saw instead, She could have picked herself off the floor if she could still move her head she could be able to still move her body and left the flower pinded As a last gift.
So Violet got Lily as a gift on her birthday, and they had the same eye color so Violet thought of Lily as a baby sister. Violet was lonely, and needed to have a friend before she could socialize at school with other kids her age, and she found that friend in Lily. Her father hated Lily, and wouldn't hide that fact from Violet. It made Violet hate him, she thought that because he was so mean to her 'little sister' he hated her. Whether he did hate Violet herself, I don't think there's enough proof of that. Violet probably really started hating her dad after he taped Lily's mouth. She could have been one of those dolls that have a voicebox, or maybe it was just because he got tired of Violet talking to a doll when he didn't hear anything? Whatever the case, it didn't matter. When Violent started going to school, she didn't need dolls or 'baby toys' anymore. She was making friends, and outgrew the toys she had before school. All the toys in Violet's old toy room were angry at being abandoned. In the best ending, although it's sad, Violet moves on. She abandons Lily too. But Lily realizes that it's for the best, and she has to let Violet go and grow up.
@@ruinadotime8374 The crow was probably an actual crow that got into the house. It's seen to fly in the ending where it takes Lily apart, so it doesn't seem like a toy. The crow was also in the attic, so it probably got in through a window maybe? Crows typically symbolize death, like white lily flowers do, so maybe that's why the crow and Lily end up traveling together. Besides their names though, the crow might be symbolizing how Lily and Violet's relationship is dying.
This made me so sad. When I was a kid, I loved to read, and, for some reason, a lot of the books my mom bought for me were written from the perspective of toys and dealt with how their kids treated them. I was always good with my toys because those books made me think that they all had feelings. Decades later, and I still can't quite shake that notion.

36:22 I agree with you. In the Ending Violet stays with Lily, it's when Lily sits by her side when she's sleeping and before she entered the room, she was smiling. In this Ending (True Ending), despite Lily sitting by Violet's side again, she was clearly sad when she entered the room so I think it was planned.
It was planned, hence why she had tears in her eyes while going in to hug Lily, as she was ripped apart, her head rolled to Lily to find one last bit of comfort in the girl as she started to pass, and once on the floor she finally acknowledged it was time to move on and began to cry out of happiness while dying. And yes I am tearing up because I'm soft as hell when it comes to stuff like this.

That last ending is why I find dolls to be so sad. A doll is something made to be loved by a child, but most eventually wind up abandoned when children outgrow them.
There are many stories of dolls coming to life out of hatred and grief for being abandoned after being loved for so long. Some cultures have rituals for burning, or "properly" disposing of the doll, so that its spirit can move on, and give the child a sense of finality to their childhood when it's time.

So from what i understood so far Violet really liked her doll , Lilly. So much that she would even dress like her and consider Lilly her sister. Her mother was worried about how violet would treat Lilly so she sent her to school where she made friends. Eventually , she forgot about lilly , and started playing with her friends more often. Her mother put lilly in the attic , since she wasn't needed anymore (?) So basically lilly wants to get back and be friends with violet again....i guess?...so thats why the mother tries to stop us ... but what the hell does the crow symbolizes ?
I loved this game's style, the Gothic doll paired with a talking crow really worked for this short experience. All their sprites were pretty great, they did a good job of giving Lily a personality even though she can't speak. The true ending's message is nice despite the sad end for our lead, but it's what's best for Violet and arguably Lily too.
11:17 "Just DIO Brando it" I love how Manly is such a weeb lol, I also realized, at 23:14 it says the Euryops Daisy means happy relationship. "When I tried to show them to him, he didn't even look at it, not that it mattered, anyway." Very clever
Okay but the main character/doll is SO CUTE!? I'll probably put my foot in my mouth further into the video, but as of a few minutes in it's hard to be creeped out because she's so adorable in all of these really well done illustrations.
The end(I still love you) Actually made me tear up cuz even after through years I've never abandoned this one plush even tho I feel like it's staring at my soul I still loved it and I feel safe with it too
As a kid i always was alone with no friends and to me my toys were like my family i always took very good care of them and when they were damaged or dirty i would make them feel all better. it was at a point i could empathize with the soul of being a toy existing to selflessly bring happiness to their owner and to me that was all the company and love i needed. though i no longer play with my toys i still keep them close to me. one in particular a stuffed sabertoothed red dragon named Dewy. though i have grown up and the toys seem much more inanimate then when i was young the sentiment gives them a life of their own that lives on to this day. I've made many friends now and its all thanks to them, my toys for their company that taught me how to be kind and thankful for them to be in my life that feeling i now give to my friends. Your toys will love you always no matter what. please take care of them.
Been watching this channel for last 2 months or so, found it one day. I never knew I'll enjoy watching someone play these sorts of games. Manly, your voice adds a lot to the experience. Not over the top, not totally detached, just... right, I guess.
To be fair, the note about the crow and the pebbles. That is indeed something crows can do. They can even differentiate between light and heavy materials and will form hook from branches, which they use to get longer branches, which then as a hook can be used to get a weight which then can be dropped into water to get onto swimming food.
Around 6:41, you will notice that the projector didn't cast the crow's shadow. Like how the game centered around the language/symbolism of flowers, the crow and lily (as a flower) might have also portrayed the symbolism of life and death (like others have commented). In the true ending, throughout Lily's journey of remembering her fond memories with Violet, she was able to accept both their fates will never intertwine again and finally found peace, before leaving behind the flower ornament Violent gave to her as a memento and as her final way of showing her love to Violet. Thank you Manly for playing this game and the creator Ochabashira (@inui014). Games like this easily make me cry (especially that ending illustration for the true ending), and I still am while writing this comment. This was a really lovely game. Really, thank you very much.

26:02 "I'm glad I'm not alone anymore"? Hum... With the fact on how the dad treat Lily, and with the title, it makes me think Lily's actually a doll... Also, Violet received "Lily" at her birthday. 29:46 She smiles for a fraction of a second. Thought I imagined it at first, had to go back. Good game. ^^
The song "Creepy Doll" is very funny to me, because it tells a story. A person buys an old cabin in the countryside after deciding to move out of the city. One night, they find a door to a room they didn't know existed, and inside they find a doll. Thereafter, the Doll begins walking and talking and "haunting" the person until they go insane and try to burn the doll, inadvertently burning their house down with them inside, killing them both. But the way the song describes the doll makes it seem... adorable... *_"When you come home late the doll is waiting for you._* *_When you fix a snack the doll says it would like one too._* *_The doll is in your house and in your room and in your bed._* *_The doll is in your eyes and in your arms and in your head..._* *_...You go downstairs and you make some tea._* *_And the doll disapprovingly asks if you really need that much honey."_* Throughout the song, the doll never once makes any hostile suggestions or violent movements, just casually existing as a roommate within the house. If I had a living doll of this degree, that exists happily as just another person, I would gladly keep it as a dear friend. Here's a link to the dong, by the way: th-cam.com/video/KrGtxf-8ISc/w-d-xo.html

This "True Ending" is kinda bullshit. Like hell, wtf? You don't destroy your things to 'move on', they can always have a place in your home as you grow up, and eventually they can be passed on to your children. A proper "True Ending" would be Lily placed on a shelf in Violet's room watching her grow up, and then the end cutscene is an adult Violet handing Lilly to her own daughter, Rose or something.
25:45 "How are you not writhing in pain, that thing must be crazy hot-" Me: ...guess she has no nerves. (Inside Intense Sweating) Oh no she's not human or animal well shit- There was a doll mentioned that the kid plays with, right? At first, I thought we were the kid that got her mouth taped that hates her dad but...it's starting to point to something else. 28:27 Are we though, you'd think we'd have our own key. Not only that, but the dolls were saying traitor and run Violet (which does make you think that we're Violet since we're trapped with them), but that doesn't mean they were talking about us, after all, why would they say 'she' and not you if they were talking to us (27:00)? Are we Lily? Spooky. 29:03 Yeah, sounds about right, because in the ending at 29:35 I think we're Lily and kill Violet because that look on the doll's face looks pretty murderous and yeah there's no denying that Lily is a doll because of how small she looks compared to human Violet. 30:28 Oh man we finally see Lily talk. Oof. Too bad she only took that tape off after murder, oop. ...also that smile and then we hear that crow, that ain't good. 31:09 Ooooh, it was the bad end? Welp, now that you actually escaped, Lily gets a ^^ look on her face when looking at the crow now. Maybe we got possessed by the vengeful spirits of the dolls then and do the deed. Oh hey, looks like we can walk around the room now! That drawing of Lily and Violet and that ??????? flower are very interesting... 32:26 Oh, looks like Lily seems content just being around Violet. You still hear the crow caw at the end though so maybe she didn't kill crow friend last time. ...actually, that look on her face looks a lot sinister, I thought her eyes were closed with the ^^ look but they were open, eek. 33:10 ...Oh lordy she totally possessed Violet and then plays with her now, oh noooo that's terrible. 0n0 34:26 Ah, so now you burn the flower to get the flower hair ornament like in the story with the goddess, correct where it was a flower crown thing? Hm. 'Is something supposed to be funny?' Well, that's ominous. ...at least Lily is happy, at least, when we get to the door. ...Oh! The window is open! Interesting though, crow is blocking the way out this time. 35:27 (Gaspu) CROW FRIEND I CAN'T BELIEVE! ...Well, Lily did fuck over Violet not long before so yeah karma, though Lily looked a lot more kind there. Also, you can see the flower ornament on the floor. Oooooh, so the Lily killed herself with the crow? Wild. Horror toy story indeed. I do like the true ending though, now Lily and Violet can move on. :0
Crows and Ravens are some of the most intelligent animals in the world. They have the intellect of a seven year old child (I think that's the age) and can be taught to speak
Burning of flower: Tulip (deep love) -> Bush daisy (happy relationship) -> Anemone (abandonment) -> Rhodanthe (unchanging thoughts). The white lily can mean pure love. Therefore it shows that initially, they had a great relationship and love until Lily got abandoned. However, this lead to Lily having unchanging... hate (1st ending), bad love (2nd ending) or pure love (3rd ending). Doll room: Lily's thought on the situation. She feels angry, and her anger is becoming dangerous; hence the last doll warns Violet to "run". If the anger engulfs Lily, that's when the bad ending appears. Goddess story: It's either Lily is goddess and Violet the girl or the other way around. The lily again means pure love. Tape on face: Still, the tape is a mystery. Violet's dad heard Lily cry and therefore taped her mouth. It could be that Lily was injured around the mouth, and dad taped her as a solution. Mum fixes it, but I assume Lily kept it on despite her ability to speak because Violet didn't like it (but took it off in the 1st ending). Crow: Crow hates Violet for betraying, but gets more remorseful/sad rather than angry when Lily kills her (1st ending). The crow still loves Violet and hence doesn't like what he sees in the 2nd ending. Therefore, the crow attacks Lily on the 3rd ending because he thinks she might hurt her again (the attack happened when Lily reaches her hand on Violet). After the attack, the crow stares at Violet (and not Lily), making sure she's safe before flying off. I assume the crow knows the 2nd ending because the 3rd ending opens after the 2nd ending, the flower is missing from the vase, and the window remained open. Entering Violet's room: 1st ending - angry, 2nd ending - happy (to play with Violet again), 3rd ending love and sadness (she loves her but is sad cause she knows how it will end)

All their sprites were pretty great, they did a good job of giving Lily a personality even though she can't speak. The true ending's message is nice despite the sad end for our lead, but it's what's best for Violet and arguably Lily too.
Yes, it is. I wish we had more of the story, but this was good too.

I love how Manly is such a weeb lol, I also realized, at 23:14 it says the Euryops Daisy means happy relationship. "When I tried to show them to him, he didn't even look at it, not that it mattered, anyway." Very clever
I don't remember where offhand, but in another video of his he gave his full name as Manly Badass Hero Justice Anime.
Okay but the main character/doll is SO CUTE!?
I'll probably put my foot in my mouth further into the video, but as of a few minutes in it's hard to be creeped out because she's so adorable in all of these really well done illustrations.
Wait, a little girl exploring a creepy mansion with a crow along with a theme of dolls...
Mad Father vibes, anyone?
Not just that...
1 violet is the name in the witch house
2 the crow is a ref of Alia Touhou
The end(I still love you)
Actually made me tear up cuz even after through years I've never abandoned this one plush even tho I feel like it's staring at my soul I still loved it and I feel safe with it too
As a kid i always was alone with no friends and to me my toys were like my family i always took very good care of them and when they were damaged or dirty i would make them feel all better. it was at a point i could empathize with the soul of being a toy existing to selflessly bring happiness to their owner and to me that was all the company and love i needed. though i no longer play with my toys i still keep them close to me. one in particular a stuffed sabertoothed red dragon named Dewy. though i have grown up and the toys seem much more inanimate then when i was young the sentiment gives them a life of their own that lives on to this day. I've made many friends now and its all thanks to them, my toys for their company that taught me how to be kind and thankful for them to be in my life that feeling i now give to my friends.
Your toys will love you always no matter what. please take care of them.
I audibly yelled "NOOOOOO" when Lily was crying
The menu screen reminds of the violin girl from courage the cowardly dog.
Oh dear
Been watching this channel for last 2 months or so, found it one day. I never knew I'll enjoy watching someone play these sorts of games. Manly, your voice adds a lot to the experience. Not over the top, not totally detached, just... right, I guess.
6:40 Interestingly, the crow doesn't seem to cast a shadow.
Sharp eyes
could be an error made by the Developer or was it intentional?
(twitter.com/inui014 this is the author's Twitter account)
To be fair, the note about the crow and the pebbles. That is indeed something crows can do. They can even differentiate between light and heavy materials and will form hook from branches, which they use to get longer branches, which then as a hook can be used to get a weight which then can be dropped into water to get onto swimming food.
Watching these early is like sitting down with a friend to play a creepy RPG they found, Manly's voice just gives that Saturday chill vibe
I love RPG maker horror games sometimes because you can find a lot of hidden treasures in it like Ib, Witch's House, Wolf and Rabbit, Mad Father, etc.
Seconded. Though I would like to see Manly playing a pure RPGMaker game with no horror slapped into it for the sake of diversity genres
Ah the good ol memories of RPG Make horror games
I love the art! I love how many different sprites there are. I also love all the ones of her holding the crow, so cute!
Also Lilly is super cute.

You got a point man
Prequel is before,sequel is after,¿no?.

Hoovy would like that huh?
I miss the old rpgmaker horror games :( I’m glad there’s still some floating around that I haven’t seen
I'm really glad these daily uploads have gotten you so much more subs Manly. Getting more than 70k subs in one year. I do hope you aren't burnt out though.
they had no business making that crow so fluffy and cute! love the art in this game so far
i love the art, but i wish the character moved a bit slower, the fast pace of things is a bit startling at points, otherwise i love it. im happy to see more stylised rpgmaker works and creators starting to make a reappearance
This game looks really great, the true ending really hurts tho 😔😭
26:02 "I'm glad I'm not alone anymore"? Hum... With the fact on how the dad treat Lily, and with the title, it makes me think Lily's actually a doll... Also, Violet received "Lily" at her birthday.
29:46 She smiles for a fraction of a second. Thought I imagined it at first, had to go back.
Good game. ^^
Aaaahhh I'm so glad you listened to my suggestion!
the art of the girl holding the crow is sooooo cute
15:25 “He scolded me and beat me… Bathroom.”
17:14 skipped dialogue: The crow says "What did you see?"

Throw a knife at it?
“Got all doll’d up”
Me: my time has come *proceeds to die of laughter*
I really love the little girl design so cute and adorable in a scary way
This channel will never get old
This story made me go hug my childhood dragon plush
I died when the same Prison Boys bg music played when the crow appeared, love that game so much
It’s 4am and I’m weeping over a doll.
manly, sometimes i just let your videos play for the comfort that comes from listening to a manly badass hero commentate
I would have taken Lily over real friends. I don't leave my house for much anyway and a doll bff that actually moves around would be sick.
But the way the song describes the doll makes it seem... adorable...
*_"When you come home late the doll is waiting for you._*
*_When you fix a snack the doll says it would like one too._*
*_The doll is in your house and in your room and in your bed._*
*_The doll is in your eyes and in your arms and in your head..._*
*_...You go downstairs and you make some tea._*
*_And the doll disapprovingly asks if you really need that much honey."_*
Throughout the song, the doll never once makes any hostile suggestions or violent movements, just casually existing as a roommate within the house.
If I had a living doll of this degree, that exists happily as just another person, I would gladly keep it as a dear friend.

@@Crimsontiger133 wait but there is a story of a possessed doll that was friends with a little boy & could move on its own. His name is Robert the doll. None of these dolls are pretty like Lily though 😂 I couldn’t help but think of Chucky because of his Good Guy line “I’m your friend till’ the end”

*_whispers_* the fairytale of Vasalisa has a cute, living doll that gives you advice and does your chores when you give it something to eat.
Woow the art style is very good :0
sad music got me moving into tears
First sound effect: huh that sounds familiar..... o sh*t
Yep mad father
This "True Ending" is kinda bullshit. Like hell, wtf? You don't destroy your things to 'move on', they can always have a place in your home as you grow up, and eventually they can be passed on to your children. A proper "True Ending" would be Lily placed on a shelf in Violet's room watching her grow up, and then the end cutscene is an adult Violet handing Lilly to her own daughter, Rose or something.
25:45 "How are you not writhing in pain, that thing must be crazy hot-"
Me: ...guess she has no nerves. (Inside Intense Sweating) Oh no she's not human or animal well shit-
There was a doll mentioned that the kid plays with, right?
34:26 Ah, so now you burn the flower to get the flower hair ornament like in the story with the goddess, correct where it was a flower crown thing?
I love this art style
started watching Manly because of RPG maker games and it gives me so much joy that it's been a year or so and the RPG style games still keep coming
I tripped over your let's play of the Cthulhu dating sim, glad to see games with good art styles get attention...
Manly how doll'd up are ya?
The stare of the doll in the changed main screen, reminds me of spinel somehow
I love that manly uploads always just in time for me to watch him play and fall asleep to;; his voice is so soothing and his play style is so chill👏🏻😴
That artstyle is just adorable, especially when Lily is scared or hurt
I love birds that talk, flashbacks of other crow/raven sidekicks
THAT GAVE ME MAJOR MAD FATHER VIBES! :'O even the sound the menu makes, the soundtrack... I love it!
Stumbling upon this man's channel by accident been the best oops of my life. Lol.
Okay, That Was Sad... Also Lily Was Freaking Cute.
2:55 lmao i legit read this in English class in like 3rd or 4th grade
Crows and Ravens are some of the most intelligent animals in the world. They have the intellect of a seven year old child (I think that's the age) and can be taught to speak
I fuckin Love the music change when we meet the crow. It sets up the difference in character so hilariously. Super about it.
YES more rpg horror! I missed you playing games like these so much!
The art for this game is so goddamn cool dude I love it
When I saw lily cry (in the "good"? ending) I wanted to cry too
jesus christ, the art is fucking amazing!
The art style is really good
I really like the art style and story.
I love lily's character design a lot
This is the first time in months that TH-cam has notified me that you had a new video 😤
35:33 bro used wing attack
sometime I just pause the video and capture a screenshot
More like a heart wrenching RPG Maker game.
love the doll and crow aesthetic, so pleasing looking chars
"Just Dio Brando it"
I should have figured you for a Jojo fan with Manly as your name
Burning of flower:
Tulip (deep love) -> Bush daisy (happy relationship) -> Anemone (abandonment) -> Rhodanthe (unchanging thoughts). The white lily can mean pure love. Therefore it shows that initially, they had a great relationship and love until Lily got abandoned. However, this lead to Lily having unchanging... hate (1st ending), bad love (2nd ending) or pure love (3rd ending).
Doll room:
Lily's thought on the situation. She feels angry, and her anger is becoming dangerous; hence the last doll warns Violet to "run". If the anger engulfs Lily, that's when the bad ending appears.
Goddess story:
It's either Lily is goddess and Violet the girl or the other way around.
Entering Violet's room: 1st ending - angry, 2nd ending - happy (to play with Violet again), 3rd ending love and sadness (she loves her but is sad cause she knows how it will end)
i love that she calls the flathead the "minus" screwdriver
Minus is the standard term for flathead in Japan. Plus is what they call a Phillips screwdriver.
@@bluishwolf
but they didn't change it to flathead in the _translation_
minus and plus are exactly what a kid would call them in English too, and whether intentional or not, it really works well
Im so glad to see rpg horror games again from manly. Especially in this time of crisis
