The trapped character is called Dark, so the title could probably be taken as a semi pun. They're also confirmed to be a good person so we made the right choice... for now.

With the whole "Call me if you need me", it makes me feel there will be a future game where you'll need to come to this one and it'll progress the other game. That would be a very interesting concept.
To be fair this is basically the mechanic games that carry over info from older games in the same series use. The PS2 "Dot Hack" games did it in a few nice way. Mass Effect had a similar thing for the storylines. So yeah, it wouldn't be a big shock if the file has some other use.

recognizing stuff from other games isn't anything new. Psycho mantis is another great example of it, but it just has an extra layer of excitement when it's a meta game like this one, in my opinion.

I find it quite amusing at the idea of obtaining one item for one game and using it in another, as another comment pointed out it was be like "When Psycho Mantis reads the memory card of the player" which I do agree. I do get that some games have Rewards in other games based on what end they got. but it would be amazing how, for example if I made 2 games.
Example: Transfer the Crumbling Necklace from Game #1 into Game #2 to get the Hidden End in Game #2, and if you transfer the Amethyst Heart from Game #2 to Game #1, the innkeeper will say a few things about it and ask how you obtained such a relic without moving an inch.
The calling card is just a PDF file, rename the extension. Apparently says something like "DARK 3141".

I think you'd love "Sacrifices Must Be Made", a free gamejam release by Daniel Mullins (Dev behind Pony Island). This specific title is amazing enough that the support lead Daniel to make it his next full-fledged title, called "Inscryption", but the original game jam title is perfect for a 15ish minute video with enough horror vibes to be perfect for this channel.

I like how the files were part of the puzzle and I can see it fitting into an actual horror game. Alt-tabbing between the files and the game itself gives a window for jumpscares too (eg. you'd be distracted with the files while a monster approaches you in game). You can go even deeper with this mechanic and add a "player" file and a "monster" file where you see the files hopping around, letting you know if the monster is in (living room) folder or something like that. Maybe something similar to those Five Nights at Freddy's clones? Lots of potential.

That was pretty cool. I sort of wish the protagonist got paid in the end, but at least she avoided a bad ending. I'm all for games doing clever stuff with meta gameplay, having to mess around the files to move things in game has so much potential. As other comments have said, I'm willing to bet that calling card will be vital for a secret ending in a future game from this developer. Looking forward to it.

Yeah that's fine - you got her heart, body, & soul together, but you never got paid. The one consolation to reviving the red-eyed girl is she had better hair, at least imo anyway. Very clever use of the files to solve puzzles. You would need to keep that card file in order to see if it can be used in a future game... I'm wondering if somehow you could've gotten a reward with it! 💰 :D

When I read the title my mind went directly to Pet shop of Horrors. A nice manga, totally recommend it. If I'm not mistaken, there's an anime adaptation.

The art style even reminds me a little bit of a flat version of D and his petshop denizens. This was one of my most favorite manga I have ever read. The OVA is...very much to be avoided due to how it waters down D's character and eliminates Leon's relationship (and growth) with D. But it's good for shock value.

This developer makes some really nice games! They also made A Tavern for Tea, the one night, hot springs series, and a lot more. Their art style manages to work for so many different genres

This game is actually pretty tame to the other ones you played I mean the worst thing that happened here was a poor girl getting her heart ripped off off screen compare that to let's say doki doki literature club where The tamest thing to happen is a girl ripping into herself with a knife while showing it to you on screen.
When you see the title you automatically go "oh yeah? Totally"
the simple style reminds me of Touch Detective! (specifically, Touch Detective 2 & 1/2. - especially the player character and the ghost/demon girl - they remind me of Mackenzie and Penelope. I suppose the disinterested stare of the shop keeper also reminds me of Chloe a little)
I remember really liking that game, I've only seen some Fungi app games in recent yrs tho, I wonder if they'll ever do another one like that, or maybe a remake some time in the future

I've only seen a few games that treat the character you play as, and you - the player - as separate people, that's a really interesting detail, especially because the girl Dark (the trapped girl) can see between dimensions. She can see past the 4th wall
