    I always think of Jesus and the disciples be much older, around 40+. But yes, Jesus was 30 when He started His ministry.

They obviously treated their teenagers as much more mature and capable than we treat ours today. I think today's society is reaping what it has been sowing.

    I saw somewhere in Jewish history that only woman and children could stand next to the cross,which could explain why only John was there. You had to be 12 or older to leave your father and follow a teacher,so John was at least 12 but probably no older than 18,20.

    I have a question. Jesus said to Peter, upon this rock I will build my church. But then Paul showed up and gave us all the rules and wrote all the letters to the church. What happened to Peter's assignment by Jesus?

    • @kiwiburciaga
      @kiwiburciaga ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Peter was given the mission to spread the gospel, like the other disciples.
      In other words, Jesuschrist is the Rock; not Peter, peter is a little rock that is what Peter means little rock.
      Jesuschrist is the Rock in which the church is established by the apostoles.
      Because Jesuschrist was rejected by his people.
      1 Peter 2:1-10 Jesuschrist compares all the apostoles like little rocks.
      Peter is ( petros) Rock ( Petra).
      Jesuschrist used two different words for rock, since Peter was the first to spread the Gospel.
      Acts 2:14-47
      Acts 8 and 10.

    Jesus and Peter paid a temple tax (Matthew 17:24-27). This tax was required of those 20 years and older, but no mention is made of the other disciples paying it, which suggests they were under that age. Jesus didn't always follow Jewish customs did he? So could it be that he didn't follow the customary practice of when he took on and how old his disciples were? I'm not sure, just asking. 🤔

      @deanfry879 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      It may be possible in many respects Jesus did not follow customs of either the Jews or the Greeks. But older people are usually considered more knowledgable and wiser, which would have made a challenge for the other disciples if one of them was older than Jesus.

But not everyone has the patience and compassion of Jesus Christ who showed His disire to change lives with His own life. It's absolutely important when you relate it back to the naked neaniskos who flees when Jesus is arrested. It provides context to why the disciples say to Jesus that people don't like the way he's touching children and he replies "You'll scandalize me...".
      He's engaged with little boys to a degree very reminiscent of the pederasty rampant in the Greek world.
      Zeus and Ganymede.

      @@piedpiper6425 What kind of sick thing are you trying to say here? Jesus is pure and holy. You are not quoting scripture properly. I am assuming that you are referring to Matthew 18:6, the verse says "But he that shall scandalize one of these little ones that believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone should be hanged about his neck, and that he should be drowned in the depth of the sea." I don't know how this verse has anything to do with what you are trying to suggest. Jesus is God and he is not like other disgusting pagan "gods". Jesus loves you and died on the cross so that you may receive forgiveness and eternal life through him.
