    Do you watch Sydney Plant Guy's channel? The chop and extend method he uses gives him the extraordinary jumbo sized leaves. This past year I've adopted that method and it's working well.

    • @AroidDistrict
      @AroidDistrict  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey, yes I watch his channel sometimes. Glad your chop and extend worked for you. I use different type of pole that makes it easy to propagate for my Etsy shop. I also like to do my own thing and show alternative ways to do things.

    Dave I’m glad you’re ok please take care of yourself. Let fools be fools. The mix of leca with pafcal sounds amazing and when I saw those roots my jaw dropped. I was going to use tree fern and perlite on an import I have coming but I think I am going to use the pafcal instead.

    • @AroidDistrict
      @AroidDistrict  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you, I always stay careful and avoid craziness, I just draw the line at someone approaching. Yeah perlite and fern fiber sounds like a great option too. I've used that for smaller Anthurium. Let me know if the Pafcal works out for you.

    Hey, sorry about the road rage incident. Good to hear everything turned out okay. Love the plants, that’s a mean El Choco brotha! Also Becareful with that copper fungus once it’s in there, it’s there. Quarantine it for awhile to be on the safe side. I think they may be arriving with it. Once I thought back to those weird looking marks. And super duper disinfect and clean everything after using it on any plants that you think has it do not reuse the substrate unless you boil that shhht pass he’ll and back!😂 Seriously tho there isn’t to many videos on the internet about copper fungal in Aroids. So I was super stressed out about it. You’ll know if a cutting has it because it’ll almost never grow roots and Weill have the copper color on the flesh immediately after being cut. Sorry about the book I just wrote lol just wanted to share what I’ve learned so far incase it could help. 💯🌿🌱

      @AroidDistrict  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the concern, some of these young bucks be wilding' over here, but I handled it well lol. I usually spray my own Neem oil solution if a plant has fungal spots, but I'ma try this Fungicide I bought a while ago. I'll report back on how it goes.

    I don’t think I’ve seen a totally clean melanochrysum plant; at least one leaf has some sort of damage. I’m having similar issues with mine. Thanks for sharing Dave!

  • @StanWatt.

    You El Choco and Melano looked fabulous! I hope mine grow as well. I might by a pair of secateurs to make cleaner, sharper cuts. They also make it easier to cut through thick or tough stems. Excellent video.

    • @AroidDistrict
      @AroidDistrict  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you, I actually have better tools for cutting like Exacto Knife, but I'm so casual and just used scissors real quick lol. I figured all the cuttings will be fine as usual.

    Your melano is growin at least lol. I got one a bout 6 weeks ago. I had to root it again because I put it in semi hydro...i cant do dirt lol. Its first new leaf rotted in the damn sheath before it emerged 😢. It still has the apical growth point tho, so i hope the next leaf works out. Love ur vids and stay stafe in them streets Dave!

    • @AroidDistrict

      I understand, I don't like dirt no more either. Them Melanos usually get themselves together once the roots develop. Appreciate you tuning in, thank you and be safe as well.

    You done UPSET the congregation cutting that el choco 🤣 we all jealous! - but Ecuagenera plays I haven’t imported with them since they disrespected the set. I’m glad you’ve been having success tho. Melanos are 👎 for me, they play.
    Last thing 🤣 I’m bout to cut my warocqueanum thanks to your advice. God bless you!

      Lmao! I should’ve cut that El Choco in private lol… I needed more inventory for the Etsy. Show us how you cut that Waroq, it might take a while to bounce back, but that’s the only way I know to do it.

    Great video, Dave. Your serpens looks nice. Verrucosum and Verrucosum like plants don't import well for me. If they arrive alive its a very long rehab road. My experience with ecuagenera has 60/40. I get more losses than wins. Especially on thin leaf plants. They still have great deals so the risk is worrh it for a good deal. On the flip side my success rate is better with their US site since most plants have been acclimated. Hiw is your irecolor doing?

    • @AroidDistrict
      @AroidDistrict  ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree. I go for the cheaper imports because the risk and learning experience is worth it. My Iricolor is actually doing ok outside! I know a slight temperature drop at night is important for Verrucosum, so I think the outdoor greenhouse can provide that and get it established.

    aye.. How long does generally take for you to get your plants from the Ecuador site? For me it seems like forever..

    • @AroidDistrict
      @AroidDistrict  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah it takes about a month and a half. They ship to US only once a month, then let it acclimate in Florida for a while. I normally forget what I ordered during that time.

    Love your philodendron melanochrysum but mine has wonky leaves and not sizing up. I give up it's going to be traded real soon. I'm curious to know why didn't you air layer the el choco aren't you afraid of leaf size decreasing.

    • @AroidDistrict
      @AroidDistrict  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I understand. I didn’t care to air layer the El Choco because I have another one. The leaves full green and lose all red color if the plant keeps getting bigger. So I don’t mind starting over and listing some of the props on my Etsy shop, which will be shipping size.

    Such beautiful plants, so brave cutting up the El Choco don’t think I could do that, definitely not confident in myself enough too do.☺️Not sure if you would be interested or something you may already know, I’ve seen several people do, if you have a plant on a pole and want the roots to go into the pole wrap the node area in plastic wrap, we call in cling film in the UK not sure what you call it in the States it helps hold in humidity and helps the roots latch into the pole substrate 🌱💚.

    • @AroidDistrict
      @AroidDistrict  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey, the potting mix is called Pafcal. It’s a natural sponge material that last 10yrs. It used in Asia to prevent root rot. I filmed a video about it, titled “Pafcal? Is It Better Than Pon”.
