    I’ve had mine for 6 months and I love it so much that I’m always trying to find reasons to take it out for a drive 😂. Would I like it better to hear the roaring sound of a flat 6? Sure I would. But I was finding the interior of the 981 too dated for my taste, I wanted a loaded version with modern niceties. Except when it’s on idle, I really like how the flat 4 turbo sounds anyways, it’s a treat for the ears to push 1st gear to 70km/h and 2nd to 130km/h. Oh boy oh boy oh boy, what reason can I find right now to go spin it for a bit? 😅

    I’ve had my Cayman S for a few weeks, and between my M4 Comp and Mustang Mach 1, it’s the one I look forward to driving most. It seems 350hp is quite enough…

  • @peterj5751
    @peterj5751 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    The big question most people have, including me, is what advantages the S has over the base Cayman with the smaller 2l engine. The claim is that the 2.5 has substantially improved low end torque and less turbo lag due to the bigger engine capacity and variable vane turbo but how does that play out in the real world? Is the difference noticeable?

    • @invictusporsche
      @invictusporsche  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      On the public roads the base 718 is plenty and in our experience it’s sometimes more fun with the base because you can use more potential of the car. The power in the s is noticeable but not significant.

      @@invictusporsche thanks so much for your answer. Can I ask about the throttle response and turbo lag difference? Is there a notable improvement in this with the bigger engine and fancier turbo?

    Nice looking car, perhaps better than the 981. But how about reliability? the new Cayman performs poorly in this area with lots of problems being reported. Sound wise, it's not too bad but it is generally agreed not nearly as good as previous version. It's why I decided on a 981 Cayman S.

    • @LateNightDateNight
      @LateNightDateNight 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I used to own a 981 S, now a 718 GTS 2.5, what reliability issues are you speaking of? Reliability reports on these vehicles are the usual Porsche spectacular.

    • @Dackah
      @Dackah 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@LateNightDateNight you mean you haven't seen the What Car report ?? quote "Reliability appears to be an issue for the Cayman. In a 2021 reliability survey, What Car? rated it as the third-worst new car on sale, with more than half of owners having problems and two-thirds of those having to pay for repairs themselves rather than being covered by the car's warranty"

    • @LateNightDateNight
      @LateNightDateNight 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@Dackah Well I own one and I can tell you for a fact it’s superior to my 981 S in every way measurable. I enjoyed my 981 S but it drives like a beetle in comparison, no issues so far and JD Power amongst a ton of others would debate that reliability blurb.

    • @bobjones7776

      @@Dackah That report seems dodgy. According to the report: Audi A3 (37), Mercedes A Class (36), VW Golf (34) are the worst out of 37 total. I don't see how that can be possible as all these cars are generally seen as reliable. And in sports cars the Audi TT (#2) fares a lot better #15 (last) the 718. But I've had a TTS a very well looked after example and the coil packs die extremely quickly (60,000km), then I had the windshield wiper motors stop working, then they examined and saw water pooled underneath, and nearly short circuited the whole ECU (under wipers) which would've cost 20% of car cost to replace. I honestly doubt this is even remotely accurate.

    Hello Basheer, as a petrol head I’ve enjoyed watching some of your Porsche reviews. I’m also a keen cyclist. 14 seconds into your video you close pass a cyclist at a fair speed. Please do try to watch out for vulnerable road users. You should give a cyclist at least 1.5m of room when overtaking. Thanks.

      @AM-uk7jv while sound is arguably subjective, the average conclusion from even Porsche owners, is that it doesnt sound all that great.
      Funny thing, too, it doesn't take ownership of a Porsche to validate ones opinion. I can look at a Lambo, while not owning one, and think that it is beautiful, and many people will agree. Try getting over yourself, but it may be difficult to see through your own hubris.

      @@DraegerV1 Stop projecting. You don't have a Porsche. You just parrot what other non-Porsche owners say about this car. I don't have a 07 Z06, but I know it's a horribly made GM product and it's only saving grace is that it has a 7 liter V8. After hearing literally hundreds of straight piped pushrod V8s from GM and Dodge over the years, I've come to the conclusion that they all sound like raspy, loud diarrhea farts in an enclosed metal box. Try getting over yourself, but it may be difficult to see through your own hubris.
