Thank you for your honesty about your struggle with making this style of placemat by using the makers' directions. Showing examples of failed attempts made your lesson down to earth. You were clever to come up with an easier method; one that looks a lot better, in my opinion, than the one suggested. I have made many placemats and prefer using the standard fabric and batting, but this method might be nice if you are up for the challenge. ❤
I've tried these Bosal placemats and honestly they fall into the category of 'life is too short'. Seems simple on the surface but the tracing process just doesn't work and the closure is a nightmare. I chalked this up to an expensive mistake and tossed everything out. IDK if the answer is for bosal to provide a real template that can be used to sew around. But, I would not recommend this product as imo its a total waste of money. I tried the oval and it wasn't any better than than the scallop. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY! The idea that even you had to craft a work around to be able to close the placemats is imo INSANE! Kudos on trying though.
The package says it’s machine washable and can be dried in the dryer, but I’ve read reviews that say it destroys them to do this, so idk. These are very cute, but I’d rather make mine, quilt and bind them, using quilt batting I know I can wash and dry these and not worry about distortion. Misty’s are adorable and I love her choice of fabrics, but I’m not sold on this product.

I love the way your mind works Misty. Thank you
I really like this placemat! I don’t know how you figured out how to do that trick, but glad you did! Fun to watch!
Excellent idea. Thank you so much. 💕
That's bamboo stick is one of my favorite things!
Thanks for doing the hard work and the math for us. I love learning from others challenges.
Very nice, but also I love this fabric!
What would be cute is to embroidery a design on the middle fabric with a child's name. I see so many possibilities. Thank you.

Hi Misty oh you make it look so darn easy! Very cool place mats and I’m wondering if they are washable with the stabilizer in them??
