It's really a shame when beautiful cars from a time when car design meant something are allowed to deteriorate to such a terrible degree. The owner should have taken steps to preserve it long before the trees around it grew so big. But I give you credit for making a try.
Flipped me out when you said "the dipstick is stuck" I don't think I've ever seen that before. Shame the engine is that bad. Hope someone still rescues the ol girl. What a regal ride she once was.
Maybe he will sell it to someone who will bring it back to life. The smooth look of the body needs to be seen cruising around, just badass.
Common on neglected Cars, sludge can weld the dipstick to his tube when some body never change nor check oil for a couple years
You are on for a restoration just to get it running! I’m sure no electric seats or windows are working, etc. Appreciate you looking at something else on his yard to keep the owner excited. You two have a great heart!
Babe! It moved! Every car guy needs a Christina. Great work from the both of you!
You'll have to get your own Christine, sorry😅
'' That car is a priesner and the trees are the jail bars ' ha hah, that's a good one!
Richard and Christina Hello Friends, God Bless you both for trying to bring this old Lincoln Continental 4door car back around !! It's really a shame that the owner left this beautiful classic car out in the woods like this !!!🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️😫😫😫😫
We need an educational campaign to teach casual car fans the "first do no harm." If you need to pinch a part from a derelict vehicle, at least stuff some rags in the hole and close the damn hood or windows. So many cool cars get ruined beyond restoration by idiots who might as well be vandals.
You guys are amazing at what you do even fighting against mother nature taking this one back but not all of them are gonna be runners. The effort is always appreciated to save these old gems!
Hello you two as a recent retiree i have so much respect for you. I wish i could find me a older car to have fun in.
Thank you for your continued support. There are lots of older cars in the South.
Awesome show! Please keep up the great content. This Lincoln appears to be a 1969 model though.
Thanks Teddy. Noted and corrected.
This Lincoln was beautiful when it was new !!
@@user-eg3yv3xr7s I'm inclined to agree (however, I think it would've looked even better on the inside if had had the Town Car interior option, which was new for '69 and my favorite '69 Continental interior but, you can argue it's my opinion).
@@thomasshort1784 No argument from me !! I like Lincolns. I like em all !!
@@user-eg3yv3xr7s Actually, they're my 2nd favorite luxury car (after namely, Cadillac and I mean the older Cadillacs, especially the Fleetwood Brougham; I also like Chrysler's old defunct Imperial, specifically the LeBaron; think conservative, masculine yet top-of-the line). In short, if the big 3 didn't make it, I want nothing to do with it!
I think your approach to this car was spot on. No point to get your volunteer team to try and work on a lost cause. It is a shame that the car was left in the situation it was. Onwards to the next rescue which i will be watching with enthusiasm!
Thanks Gavin. More on the way.
Richard and Christina. They did exactly what I said. They took out that rear tree. And pulled it back. Going to be a tough one. No plugs in it and no carburetor. I think you have met your match on this one. That much rust inside an engine is just the impossible. And your the best I have seen on will it run. Love y’all 💕💯👊👍
Impossible is the right word Terry. Even if by some chance it ran, the engine would still be junk, and it would have taken days just to get that far.
@@whattherust absolutely.👍
It’s ok guys, thanks for sharing Christina and Richard! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🙋🏼✌🏻✌🏻💯💯
The miracle has been extended!❤
Don´t be too disappointed, Richard, it´s not your fault.
that motor is now a ship anchor
Mr. B. Here ! 🍔🍸👀😎👍. LOL Remove from tomb, let see what adventurer it would be , what have you guys got to loose . 👀😎👍
It’s sad that this one was so far gone
I wish I knew you when I had my ‘66 Lincoln. Had the engine rebuilt (twice). First guy did it wrong. A racing team rebuilt it the second time. They did a great job. I ended up donating it to a veteran’s group
To bad it was that far gone! Would be so cool you drove it out there!
Thats the only reason Im watching
Great try on this Lincoln, you two! Sometimes they are too far gone. Cheers anyway!
Hello Christina and Richard ! Richard you have the perseverance and patience of a patron saint ! When I saw the intake full of forest fixings and no plugs , I would have bailed !! I know you were trying to save it for that gentleman , still you're a mechanic not a magician ! I was wondering when a pipe was going on your breaker bar !! Christina I always gotta applaud your camera work , you keep us right in the middle of the action !! Bless you guy's, your efforts are so appreciated!!
Thank you for the nice comment. I need to use that term "forest fixings" myself! I love it.
This is going to be good !! You should put a piece of pipe on the breaker bar for leverage that would move it if it was meant to be
The Lincoln Continental, WOW! That sucker is buried guys, watch out for critters Christina!😮😮😮 I know one thing Richard, I wouldn’t be crawling underneath that thing brother! Seems like the ole man wants the worst one rescued! lol 🤣😂🤣
Oh my God! He would pick the one with trees that have grown over hoods? Praying you can get it running. I don't understand why they don't protect the cars better.
The few I've ever seen are always black. Im really liking the white. Still worth saving i think
Yep, too soon the surrender.
Richard you are right when it done it done
Hi Cristina and Richard well wow I couldn't believe how bad that was but as soon as you realised there was no plugs or carb I suspected it was toast, never mind, can't wait for next project really enjoy your videos cheers 🥂
Thanks for the support, Paul.
I think the owner knew someone or him self had been trying to get that one to run because it had no spark plugs and no carburetor that's why he wanted y'all to do that one to work a miracle on it.
Gave it the ol college try...
My hat's off to ya. Can't wait to see what's next. I'm rootin fer ya!
Richard I am sure I heard it in your voice when you said the plugs and carb were out & off. The chances of that engine turning or running without a total rebuild needed a prayer answered. I was a bit surprised with your experience that you had not chalked all pulleys and belts before you tried to turn the crank. Even if the crank does not turn you can easily verify other stuck components water pump alternator air con. comp. Power steering. It is all nice to know where the problems are. What a big job that was to remove the trees. Good luck with your next selection.
The motor was totally neglected for many years.
Thanks for another entertaining video.
Even if by some great miracle the engine could have been started, the interior would have been a mess to get cleaned out. Once critters get inside it's almost a given they trash everything. It's a shame the plugs were out and the intake wasn't better protected, even if it meant putting a junked carb over the ports. Plus, with all the open ended hoses, that engine just didn't stand a chance....but you guys never give up and that makes for great videos.
I understand that you can't fix everything Richard but you guys are awesome together and I love your videos and I will watch pretty much anything you post.
Thank you for the continued support. We have some good stuff coming up.
@@whattherust awesome. I can't wait
I got a 68 Lincoln absolutely fabulous car! It’s to bad that sat for so long and the engine is stuck
I fell many trees never with a tree so close. Interesting!
You guys gave it a decent shot like you say sometimes it just don't work out awesome video thank you Richard and Christina
You're welcome Dale.
Christina i know you will find out all the tea of this vehicle! So fun to watch you both! ❤ The channel
Thanks very much Heidi.
Believe it or not, the dipstick sticks on my Crown Victoria sometimes....but not that bad. I think it's due to the engine heat. I just give it a little twist and it comes out. 😅 The part that you pull on is made of plastic, so that probably contributes to it. It would have been cool to get this Lincoln running, but unfortunately some of them want to continue to sleep. You gave it a great effort, Richard. Thanks for sharing!
Solid 428cui boat-anchor, lol.😅
You know nothing kid.
Ah Richard that was such a shame the engine was too far gone. It is such a cool car.
Great video guys what a find just wow and its got the suicide doors that makes it even cooler in my book thanks for sharing and see you in your next video.
Gallant try Richard! I agree the Lincoln isn’t worth going any further.
Thank you for sharing Richard
Had a 68 back in high school. Loved the thermometer style speedometer!!!!! Turned white as you accelerated and at 70 it turned red!
I did not know that. Very cool!
Is that sound cicadas- that you got so used to you, can't get scared anymore😊
Yeah they were all around Tennessee at that time
Some you win some you can't. That one as soon as I saw the plugs out and the carbureter gone, and then the bore scope. Good try, next one hopefully. I always look forward to watching you two work miracles on most of these old rides.
Thanks Barry. More coming.
Poor Lincoln 😢. Great jobb om trying
Greatings from Sweden
Thanks for another , Brother !
Im 65, i remember seeing lots of this year Lincolns running around. My teacher had one. It was a pale light blue color. Sad that someone took out the plugs and let the damp air in it, same for the carb. Of course its possible the undercarriage is a rusted out nightmare too.
Beautiful car, great challange!
Lincoln’s were the top of the line then and now Christina! Richard knows that! Very much luxurious but they have always been high priced but worth it if you could afford it!
1969 model. Last yr for that body style which was from 1965. It was a mild restyle of the 61-64s. They are unitized bodies. Surprised it didn't break in half. The engine is probably okay or rebuildable. It needs the heads off to know for certain.
@garyruark9506 It is indeed a '69, which I posted in another comment.
Thank you for the correction. I fixed the video title.
Hi yall from west Alabama love yA
Hi Richard and Christina, yes, that's a shame that engine was in such a state that you couldn't possibly get it running. But it was a magnificent effort anyway. Looking forward to the next one! Many Blessings to you all!
Thank you for the support, Ronald.
I agree Richard, this is definitely going to be a MIRACLE CAR for yall! Let’s get er done guys! 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Good to you doing more videos again
nice work guys-even funny at times-but all you can do is try-good job guys!!
maybe try to find another junked/ used lincoln for the motor .plenty were made.
I think you may have met your match with the Lincoln Richard.
Great idea
I just started watching the video, and I know the both of you can get this running , no doubt
I remember the Omega car batteries. They were sold at Walmart stores back in the mid-to-late 1980s; maybe into the early 1990s. So, that’s likely when the Lincoln went ‘out of service’.
I've said it once, I'll say it again. You guys must have a direct link to my wish list. That Lincoln is on it, and if I lived down there, I'd snatch it up in a heartbeat. Too far north being in Minnesnowta, but that car is too hard to find to leave it there. I hope someone grabs it, and not for parts. Although, I don't know the underside, I see so much possibility, and those cars are true gangster cars. I see the lovable in the unloved junkers, and this is one.
I agree, it is a very cool car and it is not too far gone to bring back as a driver.
@@whattherust Yup. Stuck engine? No big deal. Hammer out the pistons and take it to a shop and have it resleeved and start over.
Richard and Christina Friends i hope that this classic car can be still rescue !! If the body , structure can be repair 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🙏🙏🙏🙏
It still has potential, but the engine would need to go.
Found your channel today really enjoyed it. What does shame after all that work you put into it looking forward to the next one Eddie UK🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
Welcome to the channel. More content on the way.
This was sad. Never seen a engine that bad. That car would be a gem restored. You gave it your best try.
Thanks Matt. I am hoping someone buys it for an engine swap. These cars are popular with the resto-mod crowd.
Save the Foxbody in the background!!
Right on. That is a rare Mustang Turbo Coupe, It is the first one I have seen in person.
The sad thing is that if the owner really wants it to run he would not have let it set up this long
I love the sound of nature in the background
Well cistena has a lot of hope god bless her for that
Thanks!
Thanks Terry!
besides the valves the lifters are definitely stuck with the amount of rust on the rockers. Nice try but I think the engine Is gone. R.I.P. Lincoln. Good video guys.
It does sadden me to see this vehicle in this condition. I mean one can tell that the body of the car has been repainted and it does indeed have the rust cancer in the usual places. But the car appears to be fairly complete. The reason for it being in the junk yard is not really known, but it is sad to see it left out in the elements for so long. These Lincoln Continentals are beasts. The drive train on these cars are heavy duty Ford truck (I took the running gear out of one that was being scrapped). The interior creature comforts of these cars have left no stone unturned. And there was no electronics in the operation of all of the devices in the A/C controls and so forth. It was all vacuum chambers and there must of been miles of vacuum lines. I gutted one of these out for a fellow who had bought it for parts and the body was in bad shape and we scrapped it. I see the usual rust in this car but this car has all the stuff. This is one you should get and put a 100 point restoration on for Christina to drive.
I could envision her driving it.
For the record I saw the water pump pulley move about a 1/2” the first time Christina saw it move. 😂
Great effort! Great job! Great to see!
Thanks Michael!
It's going to take lots of work, lots of time, and probably lots of money to get this car back on the road.
Lots of vacuuming and Lots of Creeoil!🤷🏼🤷🏼🤷🏼 Guys if it doesn’t work, don’t feel bad! Just another day! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Richard is going to get the most out of those orange gloves!😂
Yeah. There’s a technical term for the condition of that engine. It’s just not a term you can use on a family channel. You gave it a real good try though. 😊
Right on.
If yall are going to keep doing rescues, yall need to find a rescue truck with toolboxes for everything Richard needs to get the job done and preferably a 4 wheel drive so he or you can pull the vehicle out of its grave! I really enjoy watching Richard and Christina’s rescues, you guys ROCK,
Hello Richard & Cristina. Even if you were able to get the engine free and maybe in a running state, I really think that it has so much residual crud and foreign objects internally that you couldn’t vacuum out that it would be a constant problem trying to keep the oil pump screen from clogging up and the engine basically frying itself. Probably the best use of that engine would be the external parts to use on an identical engine in much better condition to get it to a good running condition.
100% agree. Sure, with a huge effort it might run, but it will still be a junk engine.
Excellent video Christina :) ,.Eugene :) , Richard :) also have one Dipstick for Engine Oil do same this did on Lincoln car , but do remember my older brother 1979 Chevrolet Monte Carlo LS Dipstick on Turbo 350 3 speed Automatic transmission was get one years and what happen tube squeeze of bottom and took a pair vise grip pull out ! Then pull tube out put different in and Dipstick went in fine plus pull out too! Next one was was a Costumer vechile 2002 Chevrolet Cheyenne with 460LE 6 speed Automatic transmission and 5.3 Vortex V8 350 (327) engine oil Dipstick truck was in vechile accident ! Bend tubes on both and was task to do!
I like the 65 Fairlane sitting next to the Lincoln
GodBless Your Effort But that Yard Had A lot of Great Patients To Rejuvenate
That was unfortunately beyond repair, but you at least investigated it. Can't win them all.
Back in the days when they made real luxury cars.
Definitely.
60s Continentals are some of my favorite cars. I was rooting for this one.
It is a neat car, just left to the elements too long.
WOW, open top end is bad news! Never know what’s down in the engine, at least moisture! If you can get it to turn over those piston rings are probably going to be bad! Waiting for Richard to fill it up with penetrating oil, possibly get her to turn over! The old man definitely picked the WORST ONE! Good luck guys but you know Richard is a magician when it comes to mechanics! I have faith in Richard’s ability! And his “waa hoo “! lol 🤣😂🤣😂
Good job guys, sometimes you have to walk away. Who knows, at some point in the future someone might drag it into their shop where they can tear the engine down & rebuild it.
Hey guys my dog Bender and I love your channel! Teague & Bender the dog.
RUST IN PEACE!
thanks man
I like your videos it's great
I think 🤔 you might get it to run 🏃 you have a good day 😮
Sad such a neat old car with suicide doors. You all have new subscriber .great video. Thanks for sharing .
Try PB Blaster lubricant. Its absolutely incredible at loosening stuck metal parts. Try it out. An incredible car. Cheers.
That's a 460. Possibly 68. The intake is a 68 as evident by the C8 casting number.
