I like how this figure looks, in both modes, and I like its articulation, too. Magic Square is actually going to release soon a second version that will feature some die-cast joints in the legs and a metallic paint coat. So it will definitely not be a "budget version" anymore.
Yep, they transform almost the exact same as well with maybe one or two differences. The other difference is the plastics used as the legends scale version is actually kind of hard to transform because the plastic is really flexible. Since this plastic is studier, it's much easier.
That second version looks amazing, very well might be the best prime MP scale when it's said and done. I'm curious to see how much more hefty and sturdy it feels.
I didn't know that it was LITERALLY just an upscaled version of their legend scale version, at least when it comes to transformation. It probably explains why it feels so light. Great video 👍
Also, there's NO diecast at all, and the plastic they used is the same faded looking & kinda cheap feeling stuff they use in their Legends scale figures.

TBH I'm a little bit annoyed by the new version. Diecast joints and parts plus fully painted for basically the same price as the original flimsy version. I wish there was a trade-in program.

@@ddp1863 Agreed, especially since the first version was only released six months ago. We basically all paid $130 to be beta testers and they fixed all of the issues people had with the first version in this new release.
I don't regret my purchase of the first version at all. So many people complain about the lack of metal and paint saying it looks and feels cheap, acting like the figure was a plastic hand grenade and looked like a cheap happy meal toy, when in person the Joints are so nice and solid. So much more than MP44 and even more solid than MS01 (I don't have my TE01 anymore to compare). And even the colors look really good, very similar to MP44s colors just minus the glossy finish which I find a bit overblown to begin with especially with how easily MP44's chips. Though I do love how Rich the Red of MP44 is, just again... paint chipping. A lot of people's complaints of this figure were so overblown or subjective. Even though even without the upgrades it's gonna get, it still has the cleanest most animation accurate sculpt both in Robot mode and and Truck mode, and the best articulation, while also having the simplest transformation only beaten in Simplicity by MP10. Even things like the weight, the lighter weight doesn't feel that cheap, especially with how solid the figure is, and the lighter weight is what helps it pose so good and pull off the amazing poses it can Only complaints I can really understand that aren't just subjective preferences is of course the fragile smokestacks and the little bit of the back poking out from the back. Which even that isn't that big if a deal because you don't notice it at all while posing it or even while it's standing. It's only visible ehen you look at it dead on, which the Front profile has such a good presence you don't really notice it. And I'd say that's a pretty good trade off for having legitimately the best animation accurate backpack of any G1 Prime ever And if we're gonna nitpick that, it's only fair we balance that against the abundance of ugly transformation lines and gaps of MP44 as well as it's huge ugly backpack (not to mention the floppiness of it's joints) Or TE01s rivet covered surfaces, visible side windows, visible ankle sliders, and thin leg proportions. (And of course it's less than stellar articulation) Luckily the new Premium version looks like it'll fix a lot of people's issues and we can finally have an even more definitive G1 Prime, and hopefully people can finally be satisfied.
Weight is more of a detractor to me honestly since owning the original. The first MS Prime is my favorite MP, for me it beats out all the FT figures I've owned, much more fun to handle and pose. I'm not upgrading to this new version. It's certainly improved, but those improvements are negligible to me.
I just got the ex version and think it’s great, but after playing with articulation with his legs, his upper thighs and side skirts are already scuffed. Any suggestions?
Yeah that square in the back bothered me in the pics. I waited and I’ll probably go with the painted version just announced. Magic square fooled me with 1.0 and I got all 3 versions the regular, metallic and then metallic painted version. You can use the trailer and a riser if you want to get it in your display.

The first MS Prime is my favorite MP ever. MS is more durable and fun than figures that weigh 3-5x as much. An absolute joy for me to handle, pose, and transform. All that said I see no reason to swap out for this. I love the improvements to the hands here, everything else looks negligible to me. I do not understand the logic of yet another MP Prime instead of doing Megatron. With several great Prime options and KOs available this seems like a mistake.
He looks great. I was wondering how he would look with the super toon accurate bots that have been released in the last year or so. I am going to buy my brother a masterpiece Optimus for his collection. He collects Ninja Turtles animated X-men figures and other cartoon characters from our childhood. I can always give this one to him if I don't think it fits with my toon shelf.
I purposely skipped this intro version knowing MS will make a painted version and the new version will be the best version just like MSs first LoF. ShowZ listed the painted Vers, I feel bad for everyone who bought this release, really upsetting actually.
I see that they have the white version of this guy for Ultra Magnus. What do you think are the chances they will do an OS version of their legends scale UM car carrier armor?
Honestly no one really knows cause the only one they've ever upscaled has been Optimus Prime. I'm hoping we get an Upscale of their Ironhide or New Age's Arcee
@@tydiriumhanger1320 Just based on how the 1.0 looks, and the fact the Fans Toys is releasing their own version of Ultra Magnus that does the whole armor thing, I can see this outselling Fans Toys just based on the price point and the fact that you can buy it in two parts spreading out the pain on your wallet. If done as well as their 1.0 in 2.0 scale it would easily be as good or better than Fans Toys version.
what MP10 should have looked like in the first place too bad Takara at that point is confused what version to do or route to go hi tech robot or animation look - imagine if both magic square and I.T. makes a version that would rival MP44 - that backpack should really be compressed - great comparison
Depends on what you're looking for. MS01 has a more stylized MP10 esk aesthetic meanwhile this is completely cartoon accurate. I recommend thid cause it's just all arlund better on every other aspect, but also MS02 is MUCH mkre availabke especislly with the premium version just coming out for preorder on ShowZ
I absolutely love the original. I'm not upgrading, but if I didn't have either, it looks like this ones better. The hands especially look to be a big improvement, the rest is negligible imo.
And THIS Is exactly why i DONT collect tfs....yet ANOTHER optimus prime that is NOT needed....dont mean to annoy anyone but i DONT need 50 million versions of the same chracter
@jaws None of this stuff is "needed." No adult needs a collection of $100+ toys, it is all for fun. And companies make Optimus Prime figures because Optimus Prime sells more reliably than any other character. Companies are in this to make money, not flush out holes in your collection.

Yep it does look a lot like their 2.0 and that is similar to what they did with the first MP prime
Glad mine is not broken. For me this figure is better than mp44.
This does many things better than MP44 and hopes the EX delivers in paint and heft

I just recently saw that from Sony at TMreviews. I quickly put in my Preordered. Cant wait. Good thing i passed on this original one and waited.
This one will look more toon and the EX should have more of a shiny metallic look to it but I look forward to comparing both

Yep that first metallic did not feel premium then they put out a premium paint version. I hope this next EX version is straight to the premium paint
They have the painted version up for pre order now, with added diecast. I may check that one out.

The armor goes on the 1.0 so they would need to redesign the armor to fit the 2.0. I would love to see that though but I doubt it
