Pentax / Ricoh need to start making these again with stronger internals. We don't need the bells and whistles of modern technology like wifi etc...But this little pocket film camera is exactly what the film world needs to help resurrect film since Leica is way too ridiculous in price range.
I loved my GR1. A properly amazing camera. Then it broke and I couldn't afford to repair or replace it. I sold it for parts (with tears in my eyes and sorrow in my heart). I've got a friend who owns two of them, spent hundreds in repairs, and still hasn't got one that works. I've got an R1 (fun 24mm) and an R10 (with weird message printing options). Both almost as good, and just as much fun. And less painful to say goodbye to when they break. But ohhh, I want my GR1 back.

Who designed the GR1? Or rather who designed the R1 since it came out first. I know Hiroyuki Higuchi & Tomohiro Noguchi we’re on the design team of the GR Digital that obviously gave way to the GR/GRii & Toshiya Inaba designed the new GRiii and GRiiix I would really like to know.
I bought a mint GR1 at a yard sale with original box and manual for $5! can't wait to experiment with it.

I only have a griii digital but it’s been fantastic, never had any issues. I’ll have to try this one as I still shoot film and have a darkroom too.
