I have been a fan since "She's About a Mover" was first on the charts. I played him in the barracks while the other sailors were jamming to Pink Floyd and Super Fly. Once in the early eighties I mentioned his name to my wife's ex, who was managing Mitch Ryder at the time, and he had a story of Doug seeing him on the street in New York and jaywalked to talk about some new project he had going. He remembered everyone he met.
AUSTIN TX ~ as a teen-age hitchhiker in '74 i spent a memorable month or so cosmic cowboys ... groover's paradise ... street singin on the drag with a National steel guitar ... met a fella named Harry had a National too so we played as the "dobro duo" for a minute or two - he played pedalsteel w/Doug and I saw 'em all out there somewhere ?? LoL lotta stories from that brief times
Texas legend Doug Sahm was known by those that mattered. And by fans here in NCAL for his old spirit, music and love of the region. We must build small villages in the middle of nowhere and make them CENTERS OF AUTHENTICITY AND CREATIVITY. We won't allow in ANY BAD PEOPLE unless they meet stringent requirements for having a genuine personality and character.
I indeed remember as a child of 5 , she’s about a mover and at 8 Mendocino, correct. But I lived in Belgium and Germany…..and it made a very strong lasting impression on me. I sang the songs numerously as a child 😊 thanks a lot .👍
I read in an interview in either The Chronicle or The Current in which Doug hinted very strongly that he lived in Austin because San Antonio could be too humid for him.

Brilliance!
I dig….it’s all about the cosmic art!:)
I first saw him on Letterman with the Texas Tornadoes and I put the face to the name and voice. That video is probably on TH-cam

He was his own pied piper.
